  2. Yep, I took a break from mid 30s to 49. Glad I came back to it, but sometimes other things are more interesting / important.

  4. Important. ideally 16.5 is fine, I can sort of go up to nearly 18 before I start finding it uncomfortable to play, and those are the basses that basically don't get played. I had a gibson EB5 which was 19mm, sounded great (looked terrible) but in the end I just didn't play it, so no point having it. And I have to remember any time I am looking at a bass with a spacing of over 17.5, that I am never going to keep it.
  5. Also I would say that what you want from a live synth (quick access to patches and sections you want to change) and the flexability you would need in a studio / home.
  6. Impressive. I mean it sounds like one of those generic women karaoke singers in a pub, but it does at least actually sound human, so that is both impressive and a bit worrying at the same time.
  7. Certainly really impressive if you want to have japanese children singing in your song. I guess it won't be too long until you can get rid of the singer alltogether. Or have entirely computer generated supergroups.

  10. Not sure what that was - I had a 10 year old macbook that I used to use, but now I have a new one. I would probably still take the old one out if I was going to gig it at a pub. I have a modal Argon 8, which is pretty good although not very accessible for live.
  11. I find rolands are very easy to set up for live performances, although sound wise everything is going to sound good at that level. If it was just for home I would stick with the Roli and Equator 2.

I don't think so, just being around a while shows you how the values of some things is very transient, the guitarist in my band is in his 30s, loves jags, I was telling him how in the 80/90S you could pick up something like an XJS for sofa change, in the same way that you couldn't really give a 70s p bass away, now they are worth something. there really is no way to predict the value of something like a collectible, like a Wal currently goes for thousands, equally good things made at the time don't, can be just down to luck
  17. They are highly desirable, although december 58s and january 60 would also sort of be considered 59s. The neck changed quite a bit a the end of 58, and the finishes changed. The ones made in jan 60 would be models started in 59. Later in 60 the necks changed again and a lot of people weren't so keen on that. But the 59s are considered the most important by collectors, and collectors don't necessarily need a logical reason to collect things.
  18. Most of the people I know who care about vintage instruments are Millenials, so there are certainly some. I think they will have value just because they are measurable and rare, obviously all the stuff from later on won't appreciate in the same way as it isn't rare.
  19. Yes, I did a search on the net and found them.. very much one of those weird japanese schoolgirl things that seem a little creepy. I can imagine they are pretty popular, especially with the game connection.
  20. Apart from the limited number of strings, that is a really nice looking finish on that bass (and the case is rather good too). I presume that is the.. signitor? artist in the photo? looks different to her drawing. I presume the fretboard protector is just a shipping thing, I can't imagine using it again!
  21. Dry joints are a defect of manufacturing and occur within the cooling time of the solder, they can't be made afterwards due to heat. A dry joint can function and then fail later on for many reasons, heat / vibration / general stress, etc, but that would be just a side effect of an always defective connection. So in a way, its lucky it failed now due to the heat and not on a stage!
  22. Yeh, lets not discuss the possible sale of items or tacitly offer items for sale in the forum as its against the rules* and we have forums for those! Obviously if you want to message each other about it thats fine but if a mod sees it you could get a warning. * unless you are a supporting member, when it is just not recommended.
  23. And out of curiosity, I got the images for the 5LX and ethos 5 and overlaid them, lining them up at the bridge. It looks like this: Looking at the scale and the frets lining up, one of those pictures has got some kind of distortion on it (probably taken too close), however it does show that the bodies, while being the same shape, aren't the same size, and it sort of matches up with the way your case doesn't fit.
