1. Epiphone Eb0 horrible things. Only literally one horrible tone, awkward to setup right. They do look nice and are fairly well made. All Hofner violin basses they have one good tone Imo. Ok for playing certain things , useless compared to other basses for anything else. They do look good but are not well designed or made in any of there price range, stupid control panel. And too add awkward to get the intonation right in fact you can't it's a compromise. If not for you know who they would not be around today. I'm pretty sure they could modernise them somewhat and still retain the soul of the original too, but they don't.
 2.
Ashdown B - Social featuring Doug Wimbish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IUISyWXxF4
Really nice demo and playing. However as said above me what's it like with your standard bass line that 99% of bass players will be playing mostly. It did sound like it had nice clarity, actual bass sounded a bit weak.
 3. Too add that lighter sting typically have less tension so they might move around more so this might affect how you have to play or how you typically like your setup. It's very subjective.
 4. Probably it will move a bit, but some necks move more than others so just try it.
 5. Keith Richards under the influence is on Netflix in 4K Uhd too so you can really see those wrinkles. Good documentary.
 6.
You just never know when that empty hole in the headstock of an ex-7stringer might come in handy to hang it up!
Hahaha! Have you seen how he modifies 2 saddle bridges with an angle grinder? For better intonation. It's possible this does have some positive effect but come on.
 7.
As now a short scale player. Couple of other issues I find with short scales is there is a slight tonal difference to long scale even if they were the same design, this is due to string tension and length I think. Not as many short scales to chose from unfortunately. And dare I say some genuinely look like toys almost. Not as much string choice. Other than that there great.
9.
You'd think that while working on a headstock they'd take the time to cut the string slots deeper on the nut, for ease of fretting those open chords, especially for guys with big hands.
Haha! I hope this is a joke about what or should I say who from eBay?
 10. Bought a dha vt1 pedal from Chris, was an easy transaction and the pedal was sent very quickly and well packaged. Many thanks
 11. What a stunner if I had a spare 2 grand I would buy this on looks alone.
 12. Here is a good example. If I'm fretting the f# 9th fret on the a string. And also playing the open e string, One after the other with both fingers, with the f# always fretted, letting both strings ring out no muting, It gets pretty boomy. Does that make sense? Lol. That's part of something I play. And I never used to have boom/droning problems but since I first started playing it, my amp and bass I use has changed many times.
 13.
We already did that last year at the SE Bass Bash. We put valve, SS and D class amps through a Barefaced 212. The results were closer than you'd expect. There were no turkeys and nothing sounded bad. Also, nothing sounded good enough to make me want to sell my TH500, which sounds perfect when going through either my Bergs or Barefaced cabs.
Was this filmed? If so I would like to see. Was db measurements taken? Slightly jealous I wasn't there sounds interesting.
 14.
Is your amp close to a wall? That can cause boominess
Nope middle of the room push at present. And I've had the problem in other rooms.
I would start by checking your bass/technique/strings/EQ before blaming it on the amp alone. With simple EQ you can take the boominess off any amp without it sounding too thin. - What strings are you using? How old are they? - What bass are you playing? How do you have the controls set? - How are you setting the EQ on your amp? Are you cutting the mids and boosting the bass?
New rounds or old flats, new flats or medium age tapes Multiple basses, multiple setting on the bass depending on what I'm playing. Just a thought I'm playing shorts scales at the min I'm sure they amplify the issue maybe? Due to there string tension etc ? Run amps fairly flat at the min, generally small tweaks for different things but when playing higher notes or two notes in quick succession, again higher notes I get this boomy sound I can't eq out without sounding thin. Thinking maybe something with a tweeter would help and something known to be very articulate in how it reproduces sound.
 15. Not scientific but for fun. Why doesn't someone get together at the next bass bash a small selection of class d amps and a small selection of other amps similar power rating. Then run them all through the same cab etc would be mainly for fun. Then we can all agree that class d lacks uumph and that valve watts are louder and not forgetting that Trace Elliot British watts are louder too lol. Is it not a case of class d amps power ratings are actually close too there ratings and that manufactures these days are not underspecing there ratings. It seems a lot of older quality amps were indeed really under rated in what power they were putting out in real world use.
 16.
Recommend the Roland Bass Cubes. The 30w version has served me well for 5 years.
Had one and sold it on here. Not boomy but I didn't like its tones in general but a good little amp all the same but not for me.
 17.
Phil Jones Cub and there's one for sale on BC right now.
Yes was looking at them a while ago. Also maybe one of the small speaker Mark bass combos maybe
 18. looking for a combo or even an amp and little cab that has good note definition and isn't boomy, just for home use and jamming so doesn't have to be too powerful. Been using a variety of combos and amps, cabs of late and seems at a certain home volume I like to practice at, they all seem to have this droning, boomy sound and a lack of note definition on some things I play this is mainly in the higher notes. At really low volumes or too much volume for the house it's not to bad. I can eq it out but by that point the bass is very thin. Wishing a kept my little vintage traynor valve combo now, although even then I had to run it open backed which is a bit of a no no but it worked. It could be the room as well but I don't have much choice, I've tried moving the amp and raising cabs etc , I have had this problem before in other rooms, houses. So I'm thinking of investing some decent money into a home rig that's better than what I've tried so far. bit frustrated with it actually.
 19. Fender rumble 15 In very good working condition (hardly used). Nice little amp. £40 that includes postage (uk only) Now sold
 20. I shall no doubt be attending probably bring my gf along. Have a bit chat with folk.
 21.
This is no good. Links! we need links for gods sake! Wont somebody think of the children
Indeed!
 22. When changing strings which I do a lot of. I've came across odd buzzing strings in many brands. First thing that I do which normally cure it is check the seating, push down on the string at the bridge just in front of the saddle, then retune, this normally works, also do the same at the nut. Second remember at the E string to always especially on 4 in a row head stocks, make sure there is a good break angle at the nut by have a good number of wraps at the tuning post, this pushes the string down creating that angle. And of course check the gauge some rattles are from gauge changes and the nut slots aren't right for it.
 23.
I don't know that amp specifically, but a lot of amps from that era had a capacitor soldered to the back of the mains switch. If yours has this then change it. It's a simple thing to do and the caps are cheap enough to make it a worthwhile punt.
It Does have two green packet things soldered onto the switch I assume these are some sort of caps? No value on them. So really unsure about them if they had a value I would replace them. On the switching off thud this isn't a thud it's a loud bang/pop so I turn it down before I switch off issue solved. I checked the caps and resistors and zero signs of any damage at all. Amp sounds great really liking it, shame about the noise. it's useable for now though and not as bad as some old valve amps I've had.
 24. Victor Conte of the balco (steroid) scandal, probably more famous in the states but he is a bassist and one time member of tower of power.
