3. Only selling as need funds for a pc or parts. I bought one a few days ago after my old laptop broke, and within 12 hours use the new one literally blew up apparently it had been over clocked or whatever by the previous owner to make it faster. Bad times. Overwater classic j Upgraded. Excellent condition upgraded with duel stacked volume/tone control all cts pots etc made by Kigon. Near new fender flatwounds, frets level and polished and its setup great. Comes with 2 scratch plates, the one in the pic and a black one. Very nice sounding bass. 5. Hmmm worst bass in my view I've played/owned is probably the hofner violin bass there just horrible instruments, I like there sound, and how they look. but the build on any of them is suspect and they just are terrible in design, especially hating the close string spacing. Then there's the epiphone eb0. Actually there decently made in general for the price, and they look great. But I could never get them setup how I like and they sound is very very one dimensional.

7. HB jb75 a deko model i bought for my girlfriends dad a few weeks ago, but we bought him an electro acoustic bass instead. Would of kept this if not for it being left handed. Is a deko model but new and not played other than for setting it up etc. Ive levelled, re crowned and polished all the frets and set it up to Fender specs. Cosmetically its good. Does have the famous D stamp. Plays well and sounds canny, the electrics all work as they should. Ash body, all maple neck, Wilkinson hardware and pick ups. D'Addario strings. A good looking bass. Asking £60 picked up or £80 posted. which I think is fair as I did spend a few hours on the frets and setting it up. And for my Basschat friends I will even throw in a used (3 month old) set of Fender black tapewounds in with it. 8.
My Deco 5 string acoustic is fine, but it's fretless !! Actually all it needed was a tweak of the truss rod and the bridge saddle lifting a smidgeon. I'll probably take the nut slots down a bit soon too. Otherwise, great!! G.
Haha. I've had them in perfect cosmetic condition and close to being perfect. But always had to put a fair bit of work into the frets to get them right. Surprisingly the nuts have all been really good. Had a few electrical problems too but nothing really bad.
9.
I was looking at a Fender Modern Player Jaguar on eBay today. £350 bin, didn't sound much to me for a Fender until I Googled them and found you can buy them for less brand new. I just laughed. I wouldn't let it get you down, it isn't really your job to police the secondhand marketplace. And if it so happens you want one of whatever they are offering but it isn't rare, one will come along at the right price soon enough. They always do.
Very true.
10. How are people getting playable Dekos out the box I've had a few now and not one has had decent frets that are anywhere near acceptable. In fact I've had a few new harley bentons, basses and guitars and the frets really were not great either on new ones. Is it bad luck or are people not fussy over not having level frets with any sort of finish. I should add I do have high setup standards and I see no reason why a cheap bass shouldn't be setup as good as any high end boutique bass, After I've worked on it. I don't expect hb basses to be great out the box but non of them come close to my standard and the Deko ones I've had a terrible
11. Not on here. But I often get offered basses, mainly for stupid prices. And they often add very rare when in reality a quick look online will tell them it's not. And that there bass is worth less than half the asking price. I keep wanting to tell them the truth about there bass, in a polite way. But I hold my tongue and don't answer. Are people just trying it on or just lazy to look things up. Either way it really bugs me.
12. Was at a gig where the bass player used a mark bass 2x10 with a fender rumble 350 no pa support. And the band while not loud were not short on volume they had been told to turn down!. And it was a small venue but I thought for a 2x10 it did very well, was surprised.
13. You could buy a El cheapo multimeter and test the resistance of the pickups its will give a very general idea of them.
14.
Happy New Deko Bass day. BTW: There is a deko ukulele up on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ukulele-bass-Ubass-/331647055093?hash=item4d37b474f5 The listing does say that it's a 'deko'.
Yeah that's mine. It arrived perfect not a mark on it, however the frets were bad the third fret made it unplayable, but that was its only issue. As the ad says all the frets are now level, crowned and polished to a mirror finish. And it's set up very well. The current start price reflects my time put into the bass approx 2 hours or so in all and the rest is eBay PayPal fees I've added on. Which I think is fair as this bass I know will play better than a new non Deko one.
15.
Well his current ads seem to be still up unmolested. A search for "Harley Benton Guitars" led me to another old favourite, remove the pickup cover, call it "unscreened" and "Ker-ching"!
Haha is that the Tele with the front pickup cover removed. That guy never fails to amuse and annoy me. He probably does in a haphazard way put work into his guitars. Its just the rubbish he spouts and his prices are wrong and misleading
16.
It doesn't need to be illegal, it only needs to be against eBay's policies/terms and conditions. eBay may feel that the items are not accurately described. @theButler - congrats on your getting something done and your free stuff - result! What has actually happened on eBay, and what has Thomann done? Could you give us some more details?
Thing is its not against ebay rules, the seller is actually doing nothing wrong. They are new basses and his buyers have been happy. He is just not disclosing certain details. I'm not defending the guy at all and I do think its wrong but he is not breaking any rules technically and I will bet nothing will happen. The best thing to do is buy a bass from him and leave a negative comment.
17. I've sold a few dekos now. But always listed as such and listed as used including the stamp mark on the back.. And I list what work I've put into it. I've seen the ads on eBay your referring to and i didn't think I would be bothered but I think it's a blatant attempt to deceive!. Especially with the dodgy chip/mark wording for the d stamp. However saying that I don't see any legal wrong in it and I doubt eBay will take action despite what might be said. Technically he is doing nothing illegal.
18. Left handed jazz for my girlfriends dad has came. Not much wrong with it, needs a little fret work and a setup but it looks and sounds great was surprised at how nice it sounds.
19. Bought a na Jazz at about 1pm just got the message sold out. So guess any orders after then would be sold out too.
20. Haha my girlfriend has now got a deco on the way, she got the last left handed jb75. Not for her but for her dad as a gift, hoping it has only minor cosmetic flaws and as long as the truss rod reasonably works then I can fix anything else. Guess that means I will be showing her dad how to play too. So soon I will have a band of 3 bass players. Slowly I'm forming an all bass band ha.
21. Harley benton uke bass a deko model which had some issues that are now fixed. Ok firstly i have no idea why photobucket made my pics weird from my phone i think its because my phone was on auto enhance. But hopefully they still show the bass ok. Let me know if you want any pics directly emailed. The bass has a couple of minor cosmetic issues. There is a small 2mm dent near a tuner. On the side of the head theres some little marks. And there is a 3mm mark on the back its not very noticeable and my phone couldn't pick it up. Other than that the bass is ok. And looks really nice i think. And to mention this does come with the Famous D stamp for deko. There was some bad setup issues. Firstly the frets needed a full leveling, crown and polish. There now perfectly level and have a mirror finish, fret board has been oiled. The E and G string were very low in volume and needed a lot of fiddling about with to get right, removing the bridge saddle and levelling it, re positioning of the pickup etc. The strings are now level in there output. The bass then needed setting up which I used kala u bass guide as a setup reference which is 4 - 5mm at the 12th fret, I went with average of that 4.5mm. With a little bit of relief. Due to the level frets this can go lower if needed. Bass looks and plays nice and has a surprising amount of power, even my gf liked its tone. Alas its not for me though really don't get on with the strings and nor could she. Here is the specs Spruce top, mahogany body, carved back, mahogany neck, C-shape, rosewood fingerboard, DOT-inlays, 20 frets, scale 534 mm, nut width 42,0 mm, rosewood bridge, black open gear tuners, B-Band u1. 5T pickup system with built-in tuner, Aquila strings, finish: natural satin. £60 pounds delivered or £50 picked up. I think that is fair considering it taken me a few hours to put right and has hardly been played in that time. Comes with all tags and the booklet for the pre amp. SOLD!
22. Got a Deko uke bass, has a few little setup issues. Had to work the truss rod carefully to get any relief in the neck. Some frets needed levelling in all sorts of places so had to level all the frets, although due to the higher than standard bass action height the frets were not much of an issue anyhow, but wanted it right. The body is perfect but the neck has a tiny 2mm dint near one of the tuners, hardly visible. I left the action height as is as really not sure how I want it. Plays nicely and sounds good all the electrics work as they should. Not sure it's really for me though, but it is fun.
23.
Big thanks to twincam first time a written explanation has made more sense than a lot of confusing videos on YouTube (for me anyway). Finally sorted my action on my very old very rough des armond. The Poor things always had a b string rattle seems ok now though cheers bro!
Glad it helped .
24. It varies from pickup to pickup. Because of there different designs some have a wider field than others. So if you haven't noticed a change its a cosmetic thing but it won't always work out that way and with another pickup it might make a difference in volume/tone.
25.
She definitely will! I always feel guilty asking people if they have signed for my stuff. Especially her as she isn't overly mobile and it must be a real effort to get up from whatever she is doing and clamber down the stairs and sign for a parcel that isn't even for her.... then she has to clamber down again to answer the door when I call after work.
I don't know why but I find a lot of comedy in this. I think some couriers do have the option to have to left at the depot. Try ringing them being overly polite and say you need to pick it up at the depot I'm sure they will sort it. If they say no go unethical and say your disabled and will make a complaint that will get the job done..
