so long as you can play it sufficiently well to do the music you want.
Well that is another question! Lol, it's punk I'm sure I will manage. Also got an offer from an acoustic group too that do Beatles and Eagles etc I should be ok there too for the most part. But will see where this punk thing goes as it sounds more ideal for me to get started with. One good thing about me I will give any genre of music a go, so I'm really not limited that way, just limited in experience.

Ok placed an ad this morning found someone interested in jamming and hopefully forming a band. Doing punk type stuff. Oddly enough we messaged each other at the same time haha. Had a good initial message. I then suggested we meet up for a pint talk a bit about music more etc in our home town centre. All good there. I'm wondering what would then be the best way to approach this maybe agree on some tunes to jam learn as many as we can but not a confusing amount as we are both relatively inexperienced. And then just have a jam. I'm also a bit wary about meeting anyone or telling them about any equipment I may have. It's maybe best to check the other guy put and not mention to much what I have or any value etc. Any other advice? I must say feeling very nervous it's not often these days I go out and meet anyone new, but I think it will be good for me as well as playing. Hope he won't be a nutter ha
Would it be deeply immoral to suggest that keeping the original fan and popping it back in if there's a problem might be something worth considering..?
I don't think on an ancient Trace Elliot combo anything would be immoral haha. Anyhow just keeping it as is. The breeze will be nice in the summer, amazing how much air it pumps out though. A simple solution would be to fit tape across the front not blocking the air vents just redirecting the flow.
It's my new Peterbuilt fretless Jazz... very pleased with it although it is very very yellow... Out of interest, what did you trade your ACG for?
Did you do a nbd thread would like to see more, I think the colour is fantastic. A few people have asked about the Acg I traded for a Jim fleeting custom, has a east pre in it that's much easier for me to use and if I'm honest I hated the very asymmetric neck on the Acg, while pivoting the thumb in various positions it didn't feel right going from thin to fat depth. A quality bass though, looked great. Disappointed about having to let it go.
Just checking mine still works... Seems OK but if the functionality for direct linking disappears then Photobucket is useless to me and i'll have to use something else...
I'm loving that bass!

I sometimes wonder if it's actually the more modern voicing of some basses and that people might prefer the older pu voicing.

Polishing frets/Rosewood fretboard cleaning
Twincam replied to titchfieldrelic's topic in Repairs and Technical
If a bass really need the frets polished (autosol chrome polish) then it will get done, fretboards get oiled b@q boiled linseed once a year. I don't think that frets need to be kept highly polished just relatively clean. -
I'm still gutted about my Ibanez SR505M that I traded (badly) for on here a few years back. Major regrets.
Out of curiosity what did you trade it for?

Musicman stingray 3 band low output!
Twincam replied to Jimbogubson's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hmmm that does sound low. I assume you have the eq turned to a reasonable level not all on very low. I don't think string to pick up height would make that large of a difference but it's worth checking the pu is at a correct height. -
Noodled! http://soundcloud.co...mixes/noodle-01 To paraphrase Jessie's Diets* from the Fast Show: "this month, I have been mostly been playing funk and disco." Played on a Cort Rithimic V with the tone dialled towards the bridge. Recorded DI into my computer via an EBS combo amp, everything set flat. Some compression applied in after FX. I left the hi-hat track I'd used for tempo as part of the mix. Doing this really makes me aware of how much I need to work on my timing and muting. That's a good thing, right!? *For reference:
I liked the funk. I listened very carefully twice, I could hear the strings but the muting I didn't hear anything in particular, maybe a case of your hearing it more from the bass than what's coming out? Or maybe covered over by the click track/metronome whatever lol Sounded great to me. Anyone else going to get there noodle on?

I fully get what the op's point is. But it's a fully natural process Such is the way of the world if a design of anything is good then it will get eventually assimilated! This happens in nature too.

Nice bass, nice pics too. I've never played an old style precision what are they like to play in general, are the necks massive on them? Are the custom shop versions exact replicas?
-
Maybe we could make it so the price and also put UK or EU is in the title just make it that tiny bit quicker? Runs off to change own ad! Lol

Ok I get the above points. I don't mind browsing myself it's fun, but to suggest someone is helpless just because they want some search options or God forbid another sub forum is taking the pee. I really do understand the points put on here that's fine I'm surprised at the level of opposition to something that would make the forum better. I do have one other question is it possible to have the obvious traders in another category then?
Hi Twincam Absolutely stunning - you are giving it away! If I didn't need the cash for my MOT I'd be on this. GLWTS

OMG that's beautiful. If only you'd take trades,I fling my Sandberg at you in an instant.
Thanks yes it's a great looking bass and don't let me not being able to get on with the filter based pre put anyone off. Forgot to mention that the side dots glow in the dark when charged up.
I use the search facility. Simple.
What if I don't know what I'm looking for but I have a certain amount of cash, or I don't want to look through ads that are outside the uk which there are many.
The issue here is that any decent e-commerce site contains powerful controls for filtering and sorting results, and so we've all come to expect that. Unfortunately basschat is run using community forum software, which isn't specialised for that task. The closest that we could get would be to agree a tagging convention that allows us to do more effective filtering - for instance, you could filter to all postings with the "under £500" and "UK" tags to see just the items that would be of interest to you. The downside here is that it only works if everyone sticks to the agreed conventions. S.P.
Surely it would be simpler just to add a sub section and post in there if your bass is under the amount. If you have a bass more expensive then you lower the price well just leave it where it is or ask a friendly mod to move it (not that I want to burden the mods)
I like it because I can perv at basses I wouldn't normally look at. I say we leave it as it is. If people can't be bothered to filter through a few ads then that's their problem.
With exeption that if people can't be bothered to look through a load of ads then also the sellers will lose out as people won't look. I'm not asking for the world here just a few easier shortcuts to finding things. Paul S I see your point there. Can we just have a section for uk basses and ones abroad then? As many don't want to buy from abroad but there's no way of telling unless you've already clicked.

Surely if it keeps coming up there is a good reason. I'm not being funny or anything there btw.
What was the verdict last year, that I presume you want to overturn on appeal? Not that I use it, so my opinion is largely irrelevant, but I'd have thought lots of multiple sections that basically all say "Bass for sale Mk1, 2, 3, ad nauseum", would be more of a slog, not easier.
I don't think I mentioned this before. What I mean is maybe have a sub £500 section and so on, and I think we need separate sections for basses in the uk or Europe or some way of filtering all this. I'm pretty sure maybe just having a cheapo section would generate interest? One for high end basses too. I don't know haha I don't hate the market place it's just a thought. Anyone else with me or is it just me lol

I know there was the thread last year but want to bring this up again. Im wondering if it would be possible to make the bc market place easier to use. Or should I say easier to find what your looking for. Say different price sections or basses only in the uk, basses just for trade, sale or both. Have a separate trade only section. And another for our foreign members. This would make it so much easier all round.

Discreets statement would not sound good in a court of law! Hahaha!
