1. Second dibs please if it falls through and pick up from Cheltenham no problem as I work there!
 2. Only 1 loop though! Slightly off topic but do like the look of the new GigRig Quarter Master! You have to try the MXR though it may work for you - just for me it lacked a bit. I still the think that the Aguilar Filter Twin is a great pedal though. If a GR2 comes up on here then I may well go for it but think there may well be a queue formed in front of me already!
Tht's what i'm affraid of the MXR, i get the feeling that it still may not have the same bottom (in lack of a better word) than the GR! The LS2 is out of the question, besides the fact that it would mean another pedal on the board (i want to minimize it) it doesn't have true-bypass, if i was to take this route i would me more unclined to a Z.CAT Blender: http://www.zcatpedal...910290108414IHj Cheers
3. I found the blend on the MXR M82 really useful but just did not like the sound of the filter - very trebley (is that a word?) and lacking a little in depth if I was honest. A Boss LS2 would enable you to blend some dry signal with any filter though so why change?
I LOVE my GR and the only reason it's not in my board is because i wanted to see if i could get a similar sound from the Proton and gain (in fact loose) pedalboard realestate! The Proton wasn't able to take it's place... I agree completely with Shep's description of the Proton vs GR, right on the spot! I think i can see some (not much) use for the blend on the GR2 that's why i have the MXR on it's way - cheaper way to see if the blend is helpfull! I'm now starting to feel a new GAS comming up from the MXR side, their range has everything i need and i'm dreaming on a all-MXR pedalboard... humm... not for this topic, i think i'll start a new one to see if anybody can put some scense in my head...
4. I think that the MuTron is much better in the studio then it ever is live - agreed that it does struggle to cut through live. The MuTron does sound great after the Brown Dog on my board - much better than the Aguilar Filter Twin but so tempted to hear a GR2 there now!
It is very close to the MuTron... But I always thought the MuTron was a little weak sounding. The issue you have is that the GR s based on the stripped down core envelope of the Lovetone Meatball - Which is a hugh fat subby envelope. if you put any envelope filter next to Meatball they are going to sound thin, as they do next to the GR. Fact is though, that in some musical situations that tone is harder to cut through and the MuTron rarely struggles to cut through as it has far more mid range, hence the Proton is likely more usable in many band situations. That doesn't stop the GR sounding MASSIVE though After a gated fuzz the GR is THE envelope to use for synth bass stuff IME.
5. Cheers Shep - it is weird though becuase Spencer at 3Leaf tried to emulate the MuTron exactly with the Proton but the GR2 is more popular!! Maybe he did not get as close to the 'Tron as he had hoped?
 6. Know what you mean - I was like that before I bought the MuTron and look at me now still hankering after another bloody envelope filter!! What is the Proton like? Seems to me like the GR2 is always preferred though by most for some reason.
Me too, i'm waiting for the arrival of my new(ish) MXR M82 thus leaving me with 3 wha's !!??? (3Leaf GR, 3Leaf Proton and MXR M82) and i'm still thinking that i should sell all of them and get a GR2...
7. Interested to hear updates from anyone on this pedal. Agree ref the Subdecay I got rid of mine for the same reason! Now if the GR2 could get somewhere near the Mu-Tron I might be interested to make some space on my board and also to leave a "valuable antique" at home!!
 8. Is it feasible to use the extra channel for a slap only sound and then switch between the two as and when you need it? I have never owned a two channel amp you see!
The MB500 is basically the same amp as the MB200 but with some extra switches to play with and of course the extra channel. The MB Fusion has a valve pre and a few more controls. I can't remember what's added/removed on each off the top of my head but it'll be up on GK's website. I'm REALLY tempted to get an MB200, they're so small it'd be easy to put it in a gig bag and forget about it, then if anything ever does happen, there's a head sat there waiting to be used. Notts, I have a fair old pile of GK gear (as per sig), if you ever want to play with a fusion and have a comparison, you're welcome to pop round sometime and have a twiddle.
9.
Finally loaded up my Pedaltrain Nano with the bare essentials. Wot no envelope filter?!!! Is that the tape from the GigRig? Sadowsky Pre-Amp/DI with Korg DT-10BK on the Tuner Out, into Aguilar TLC, into MojoHand Cream Pie. Sorry for the crappy pic. iPod Touch strikes again!! All powered by a Johnnyshredfreak power supply. I'm thinking of getting another couple of Nanos and going with a modular setup. Seeing as a Nano will fit 4 regular sized pedals, that will always leave a spare output on the Daisy chain so I could power more than one board with one power supply. All held down with Pedalboard Tape (ripped all the velcro off the board and pedals. It's brilliant stuff, can't believe how strong it is!) and wired up with George L's.
10. Me too - first time I will have bothered going to the CJF since JTQ played it a few years ago now!!
im just down the road and im SO going to be there.!!!!!!!!!.. thanks for letting us know Mike... Gafbass alert.... not sure if hes into Marcus Miller
11. Mark Bass heads work really well with the Bergantino cabs but it really does depend on what sort of tone you are tying to get from your bass for the music that you play! 12" cabs are really popular at the moment as they give a nice defined bottom end but still cope with the mids and highs too - I love 'em. As Chris b says the Aggie cabs are really nice and very portable too but to my ears when I A/B'd them again the Berg's they just sounded a bit shallow. Let us know what stuff you are playing and I am sure that we will all give you a suitable suggestion!!
Morning all, Ive decided that now I really have got the bass bug again (not gigged for ages until last saturday, now im chomping at the bit to gig again!) that Im going to go for a new amp and cab (prob second hand). I absolutely love the Mark Bass stuff - always blown me away when ive seen it, no matter who has played it - so whether new or second hand im going to get a Little Mark 2 or 3 (300w at 8R, 500w at 4R). That leaves me with a quandry over which cab to get? Im looking approx £200 second hand. Which runs best with the LM2, a single 15 or a 4x10? Mark Bass heads work really well with the Bergantino cabs but it really does depend on what sort of tone you are tying to get from your bass for the music that you play! 12" cabs are really popular at the moment as they give a nice defined bottom end but still cope with the mids and highs too - I love 'em. As Chris b says the Aggie cabs are really nice and very portable too but to my ears when I A/B'd them again the Berg's they just sounded a bit shallow. Let us know what stuff you are playing and I am sure that we will all give you a suitable suggestion!! I also notice a lot of Mark Bass stuff uses a single 12, which is confusing matters more! Ive seen some great deals on the Ashdown ABM15, several Warwick 4x10s and Hartke XL 2.5 2x10. Any help greatly appreciated.
12. Yeah it could work becuase if the only option of a programmable board is the Gigrig or Octaswitch then a 3 or 4 loop option pedal could be the only other alternative. Can you buy them in the UK?
sorry mate, i deleted it as, i realised that you wanted something programmable, but if it fits the bill, then cool !!
13. Not sure where the post from Phi.i.Stein went but the Wounded Paw Super Blender looks interesting - could well do the job?
 14. Do any of you pedalheads have any suggestions for a pedal switching system like the Gigrig Pro-8 or the Carl Martin Octaswitch Mark 2. I am looking for something like this which is programmable with dip swithes etc but on a smaller scale like 4 loops etc that would then fit on a Pedaltrain 2. Does such a thing exist or am I dreaming?!!!
 15. Going to try and get to Bass Direct on Friday to try one of these out.
 16. Yeah I have noticed that when you turn the dial around it goes to a menu called User, does that mean that it only dials in your sound when you turn it to that position and when you move off that it goes back to the presets?
You can edit the oscillators on the 'Custom' option in each patch. Each patch has some preset oscillator tunings... 8 I think? It's been a while?? The last position of the knob is custom for you to tune your own. To save, when you are happy with your effect, click and hold the position number at the bottom of the screen. Hold it until it blinks and it's saved.
17. Stuart Zender used an old Boss ME8B on the first two Jamiroquai albums and that was how he got the nice funky squelchy sounds! I had a Q-tron but have to admit that the Mutron III is a much better pedal. I would still be keen to try a Soundblox Bass Envelope Filter Pro though to see how that compares.
I use my Sound Blox Pro Envelope Filter as much as I can! I have always had an envelope filter in my pedalboard and I have had loads of different brands under my feet over the years. The Sound Blox pedal is the most flexible one I have used thus far (until something else comes out that does a better job!). I played in an acid/jazz band when I was 20yrs old and I used an Electro Harmonix Q-tron. We used to play a lot of Jamiroquai covers and I used it for Blow My Mind and Just Another Story. I don't know if that was the pedal that Stuart Zender used for the recordings, but I could get very close to the same tone using the Q-tron.
18. Since that post I have rigged up the MBSS to my laptop and had a play but have to say I was a little overwhelmed! Do you know why the oscillators cannot be altered on some of the existing pre-sets? Agree that saving a sound does seem a little longwinded! Funnily enough, I have just bought and LS-2 and am in the process of trying to work out what to do with my signal, I was going to run my whole board through the loop and then just mix A + B when using the synth to mix in more bottom end with my dry signal. Might try what you suggest though as an idea!
 19. Recently bought a Boss LS-2 from Steve, perfect condition and posted uber quick too - would highly recommend.
 20. Excellent band - we used to do a cover of Joyous when Zang Tang was going, loved playing the bassline in that one!
 21. Nice looking case - where is that from?
It seems the days of people posting about expensive basses over the festive period are long gone. Personally I was delighted with my fitted hard case for my Jazz and a little Vox practice amp. Good stuff
22. There was a really good cover of this tune by Snowboy and the Latin Section, you may find that on the web or itunes etc.
Another in my series of impossible to find bass tabs/notation/anything! here is The New Avengers theme music it starts at around 30 seconds in. Listen to it its pretty cool and definately imposible to find any way of finding out the bass line for a non reader like me. I have tried my best at picking the bass out by ear and cant get anywhere near it. Can anyone help ?
23. Ta! Looks like a more complex LS-6 to me then!!
Here ya' go - http://www.facebook....&type=3
24. Does anyone know what the Quartermaster 6 is in this pic and what it does? Looked on the web and nothing and also nothing on the Gigrig site at al! https://www.facebook.com/thegigrig.page
 25. Yes I know I am a wimp but I have managed to get my gear downsized enough that I can get in and out of a venue with all my gear in one trip! Taken years to do this and not about to go back on that now! My pedalboard is the worst bit though - too damn heavy! Very tempted for one and at that price I dare say that I could keep my Little Mark too!
The weight? You wimp! As for the Bergs, yes, they work nice together nicely. They are smoother than the EBS cabs with a less excitable top end but the EBS cabs with the tweeters up aren't to everybody's taste anyway. Birdy runs his EBS with Bergs and his rig has always sounded spot on.
