1. Might help you to know that I can get my rig (only using 1 x 1x12 cab though) and board, bass etc easily into a convertible 3 series BMW and never had any complaints yet about the noise that I can generate at rehearsals or gigs!!
Right, potential change of transport incoming - not confirmed but if it happens, I will need to shift my stack and downsize considerably. Not too fussed as the new motor will be a sports car lol... Anyway, I had a few folk PM me before re some of this gear, and I still have those PMs so fear not, they will not be forgotten....however, I may have the need to sell: EBS HD350 Korg DTR1000 tuner EBS NEO 212 with cover EBS NEO 15 with cover The head will come either in the EBS rack box. OR if someone wants the head and tuner, it can come in a GATOR 4unit rack case. All in superb condition, and obviously I can do pictures. Like I say, I did have interest in the 212 and the head before, so these enquiries will be revisited, but if anyone wants the whole thing, it would obviously be easier for me to sell the thing complete. Nottingham, any trial etc. It's the business. Prices would be in the region of HEAD £400 in the EBS box 212 cab £400 incl cover 115 cab £400 incl cover DTR 1000 £60 Head and tuner in Gator case £500 All based on cash, and collection from Nottingham, but contact me for other arrangements. Also interested in trades - smaller rig, small combo, BF Midget..you know the type of thing. I know nothing will sound as good as this stack, but there we go, needs must, or indeed needs MIGHT. Trades with cash my way please. OK, away we go.
2. Did he sort the jack output for you too? Do you have web address or contact number for him - looks like a smart mod to the board.
Nah!.... I got Martin Bailey (the remaining Bailey Bro in Bristol) to sort the power this time!... The Jack is the output, my input is the compressor, which routes either straight out or through the chain via the looper... Martin took my old Rocktron power supp (wall wart style) & adapted it to run through the IC socket. ...it was one of these originally..... He also put a LED in my Colorsound fuzz for me... tidy!
3. I presume that the power and jack input were put in place by yourself - interested to know how you do that?
Latest incarnation...... on a pedaltrain-1
4. Quite possibly the tidiest pedal board that I have seen in a while - nice work. 5. I would highly recommend Eltham Jones at Edge Guitar Services - he works out of Bristol a few days a week and did some sterling work for me earlier this year on my '77 Stingray and 2011 Stingray. Link is below: http://www.edgeguitarservices.co.uk/about/
 6. Good point and I have to admit that I have been quietly tempted by both recently - I am playing a lot of 5 string at the moment and may try it. What do they cost?
The tiny pedals easier for me to carry around than a Auralex Gramma Pad Also as Jarhead mentioned, speaker efficiency.
7.
For me, using smaller cabs, a tighter bottom end, everything seems more focused with more headroom when running louder. Reminds me a bit of the Auralex Gramma pad - it makes sense but you have to wonder if it makes enough sense to shell out the money on! I set it up in a A+B loop when testing it at a gig and it did make a difference for my sound with the gear i'm using.

For me, using smaller cabs, a tighter bottom end, everything seems more focused with more headroom when running louder. 8. and the perceived benefits to us as players is?
It's a very steep highpass/lowcut filter. Essentially cutting all the sub sonic frequencies that either you can't hear/your amp tries to amplify/cabs can't reproduce.
9. What exactly does the Thumpinator do? I am struggling to understand!
Not everyone believes they are worth the price, there has been massive threads about it recently. It works for me, and does what i bought it for. With the price, there's no other product doing the same job in such a small unit, the price is the price. Volume pedal, tuner & reliable DI box is tbh the essentials. Synth pedals? No need, you (& I) play keys & own key synths. Switch between them is effortless if properly set up with volume & patches. Never been asked/or had to use chorus. Never actually had the need for a overdrive/distortion. IMO, an EBS Microbass II, tuner & volume pedal will cover all your needs. I know thats the EBS is the only thing on my shopping list atm.
10. Ha ha - must try that Pedalboard Tape then.
The boards themselves are so small that it's not a problem! I know what you mean about re-wiring when you get a new pedal, but I'm honestly very happy with my current arsenal of pedals, and since everything is wired in a linear fashion to make using the multi-board setup easier, changing things out really isn't that hard. Well, using Pedalboard Tape means the hardest thing about the process is getting the pedal off of the board
11. Wish the Deep Impact was for sale!!
 12. For me the worse thing about buying any new pedal is having to re-arrange and re-wire everything, it is just such a pain in the arse job to do!! I think that what you are doing makes sense if playing for lots of different bands but even carrying multiple pedal boards is not much fun either. I love my chocca block PT2 it really pissed of our guitarist every time I get it out as I have lots more pedals then he does!! I would love an all singing all dancing GigRig pedalboard but I think that that really is over the top. In terms of the OP I would also suggest the Boss OC2 and a Chorus of some description, Compression seems to be only required if you are slapping a lot IMO. Filter wise I would be with the Aguilar Filter Twin or the 3 Leaf GR, love my MuTron but big and heavy so not an essential pedal by any means. What about the Akai Deep Impact for synth sounds?
 13. Nice idea but is a Pedaltrain PT2 really that hard to carry around? With my current setup I can get in and out of the gig in one trip and really don't feel that I would be benefitting too much by having a lighter board with me. It just seems a bit of a fag to have to split and re-wire boards for the sake of saving some weight.
Bit of overdrive, maybe? As a freelance bass player myself, I'd like to just chime in with my opinion... I was like you - I wanted a board with all the "Essential" pedals that I could fit on it, just for the sake of being "versatile" and having all these sounds at my toes. But eventually, I realised that at most gigs, the only pedals on were the ones that made up my "Core" sound. Which was a little bit of Overdrive, and some Compression, my Sadowsky preamp/DI, and my Tuner. I occasionally got to use a bit of Fuzz, and maybe some Filter, but the fact was, I was dragging a Pedaltrain PT2 with 13 pedals on it around, to use pretty much 4 or 5 pedals, most of which stayed on all the time anyway! This will be the case for 80-90% of the gigs you get - There just isn't a demand for a bass player with lots of effects (Unless you join a Dubstep/Drum and Bass group - in which case ignore me ) So recently I sold the PT-2, and I've decided to go with a couple of Pedaltrain Nanos. That way I can have a little board with the essentials (The "Core" setup I mentioned, Tuner, Preamp/DI, Compressor, Overdrive), then another board for the funkier stuff (Octave, Fuzz, Filter), then another for Modulation (Analogman Chorus, Line 6 Echo Park, Atomic Echo Clone etc). I think it's a much more efficient setup, as you can choose which pedals you want for which gig, without disassembling anything, but also without having to lug a huge board to a gig, only to use 2 pedals on it. And if you're taking a Synth keyboard to gigs as well, it would be much easier to take 2 or 3 small boards than 1 big heavy one! Here is a picture of my board so you can see the size - Perfect for a Modular setup, where you can just join 2 or 3 boards together, have all the pedals you need, and not take up much floor space! The good thing is, is that you'll most probably fit 4 pedals on it. Most Daisy Chains have 5 outputs, so you can literally take the last output to power the next board, and so on. So i'll be powering 3 or 4 boards, off of one power supply, with no hassle, and it will be all neat and tidy
14. Have sent Max an e-mail to see what costs are for the Loop Logic.
Yeah. Loop logic is a custom shop item and not on the main site. He has made 2 or 3 I recall him saying. My version is called 'Loops Mixer' and is the 1st with the added functionality. I'm sure he'll build either again and make any changes needed to suit your set up.
15. Sorry meant to quote Cheddatom and not you then Shep!
 16. I can't see loop logic on his site! I presume you are talking about this product? http://www.sfxsound.co.uk/mainpage.asp?page=sm I guess that pressing the main button switches from loop A to loop B but how you switch to a mix of both as you do by changing the function on the LS2?
Mine was built by Max (you can't get the stuff in shops - just direct), but mine has a slight change to the 'loop logic' blender or the split & mix stuff he builds, made specifically for my application... Max @ SFX is amazing at making stuff that works FOR YOU.
17. So does this do the same as an LS2 then?
I got mine used from the marketplace here, it works great and the switches are very cleverly spaced - I can switch both loops at the same time very easily, but I don't knock the wrong footswitch accidentally when i'm just turning on one loop
18. Interestingly I had a rehearsal with an old band last night and we have not played together for 2 years and since then I have invested in the Mark Bass and Berg set up and both the sax player and keyboard player commented on what a great bass sound I had now. In my mind that speaks volumes! In defence of Mark at Bass Direct what he does (and very well IMHO) is allow you to hear combinations that he thinks work well together, no hard sell no BS just walk in and A/B your existing set up against the myriad of options that he has available. If you know your stuff you will hear what is right for you and buy it and if you don't then you wont! I am not so sure that what you buy in the shop can then sound bad in a band environment?
 19. If it only had another string on it!!!
 20.
Just met up with another pro bass playing friend who has a few berg cabs AE112,HS210 HT112ER!! i took over my ebs pro line 4x10, aguilar 1x12 gs x2 and aguilar th500 amp ebs td650. We compared most of the possibilities as came to this conclusion!!!! I think that it also depends on the bass you are plugging into the head too - rehearsed last night using my GB Rumour and Berg 1 x 12 and had to keep backing the bass off the amp and guitar as it was just to damn heavy. Certainly no lack of bottom end in my Berg's. LM3 and Berg's are a perfect match. Oh and BTW I sold my Aggie Ag500SC and GS112 to got to this set up and have never regretted it for 1 second but again that is just my preference. Dave said '' Leight after tonight i will be selling two of my 3 berg cabs, i now totally see where your coming from. i think i just fell into a trap that most bass players fall into. After playing all the gear tonight i can CLEARLY SAY I THINK BERG CABS ARE THE WORST SOUNDING CABS I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!!!!! NO FREAKIN BALLS AT ALL. WE ARE BASS PLAYERS RIGHT WELL LETS HAVE SOME FREEKIN BASS PLEASE!!!!
21. I looked really hard at the squeezer before going for the MBSS but TBH the general consensus of opinion was that it was really fiddly to program and that switched me off it. I find the MBSS heavy going trying to program sounds through the laptop but there were some downloadable patches over on Talk Bass which were pretty cool and I have put a few of those onto the pedal. It has re-affirmed in my mind that knob twiddling is a complicated as I really want to get! I made that decision years ago when I got rid of the the Line 6 multi fx and changed to individual stomp boxes. The EHX Micro Bass Synth looks appealing now over the MBSS because all you have to do is move sliders around!! I may well change to that in due course. I really did want the Akai Deep Impact on the board but the price is prohibitive and others that know much more about effects than I do (cue Shep) suggested that between the OC2, Brown Dog and a filter and the MBSS there is not a sound that the DI could make that I can't. Needless to say that has helped the bank balance a little!
if you can deal with the fiddliness of the interface, the Octavius Squeezer would substitute as a good one-pedal solution to those two. the fuzz and filter combinations are excellent, and very versatile. (Agent Funk and Brown Dog). i'm still endeavouring with the synth side (and octave), but it's slow going..
22. Did think about that but the GR2 seems to be more popular than the Proton.
Proton!
23. Thank you. The LS-2 enables me to switch on the Mu-Tron, OC-2 & Brown Dog with one press for a synthy sound and then use the other loop for turning on the Multi-Comp for slap sections or blending a clean tone with the Super Synth. Too much tap dancing before I put the LS-2 on the board!
That's probably the most compact, useful board I've ever seen. I want to play through it! What's the LS-2 for?
24. A few changes and additions in recent weeks so thought that I would post again. Might change the MuTron for something smaller and lighter - GR2 maybe?
