Whos going to Marcus Miller Cheltenham...?
Gunsfreddy2003 replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
I am going but not sure how long I can hang about for as we have a babysitter (brother and his wife) and we have to get back to have dinner with them. Any idea what time it finishes? -
My band Soular are playing on Sunday night at 8pm on the Free Stage at Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Would be great if any Basschatters feel like popping down to listen to some funk/soul/groove. Our website is www.soularfunk.co.uk cheers.

Yep we did get an April issue, it had the bloke from Megadeth on the front cover. The magazine needs some work and new ideas but give the new guys a chance, you can't turn it all around in one issue it will take more like 5 or 6.
I might be wrong here but the April issue did come out but just really early like halfway through March - I'm pretty sure no issue has been lost - it's just over a month since the Aptil one came out - though I may be mistaken I'm too tired to check right now Re BGM going forward I think / hope there's going to be fresh content etc - hopefully this new set up will be a new start and new era for BGM... Through my day job I have known the new owner for years and was actually with him at an event last week. I can assure everyone that they are a serious and credible outfit and will look to really develop the magazine over the coming months.
Hey all Firstly I want to say that I'm just a contributor to BGM and in now way involved in the publishing/editing process - but just so you all know the new publishers look like they are on a much steadier footing than Oyster house and hopefully these guys are in it for the long run. I too look forward to the next issue - I haven't seen it yet! Mike
Trade what for a Rumour 4?
Would anybody on here even vaguely consider a trade for their Rumour 4??
Gunsfreddy2003 replied to stingrayPete1977's topic in Basses For Sale
On a serious note Pete, I agree with what you are saying about 5's once you start playing a lot it feels quite restricting to go back to a 4 again. I have already gone through your dilemma and have even spoken to Bernie to suss out the costs of a 5 string Spitfire! If you can afford to I would hold on to the 4 because it is still a great bass to have.
This is what Im thinking Mark, Hmmm. Cheers - having a think about it.
Hopefully Max doesn't mind me using his photo. His skills are greater than mine. Also bump for the rest. As long as I have my fuzz and filters i'm happy enough. Guess there's no point in keeping pedals I don't use often.
-

Do you have any pics of the loop pedal?
Hey guys, I've severely buggered up last month and the majority of this months pay was fixing that... so now this month looks like a write off. One of these will may be a painful one. 1) Death By Audio Total Sonic Annihilation - Bought this maybe 1 month ago? If that... used once - doesn't give me a sound I can use with my pedals. - £70 2) Tech 21 XXL Warp Pedal (Bass Edition) - Again 1 month ago. I've stepped on it like once. - £40 - sold pending 3) CoPilot FX Dubscope - I've never even used this since buying it from Talkbass (from a dude in the states) - I'll test tonight to ensure it's actually working. - £100 4) DHA VT1 (I think?) bass with DI/EQ/Headphone etc. I've never tried this with the proper power supply - so it buzzes like a bitch just now. Used maybe once (found it buzzed on my supply and never used again). - £55 - sold pending The below are feelers and I really don't want to part with them... 5) Akai Deep Impact - I have the box somewhere...Brilliant synth bass pedal which i love to bits. It will destroy me to need to sell this but I think needs must.. - £500 6) SFX Loop thing. - 2 seperate loops - both with independant volume controls, one of the channels has a blend control. I used it for my synth/fuzz channel. Also has a none latching footswitch for other uses. I used it as a down control for the Deep Impact. Was custom built by Max for me. £200 7) SFX Blue Dragon - brilliant clean boost. - Modded with a loop which only activates when the pedal is off (no boost). I put my fuzz pedals into it. - £55 - sold pending With any luck i'll be able to sort myself out financially and not need to do anything more drastic.... Prices include shipping.
-
Shure PSM200 IEM Advice - anyone using one?
Gunsfreddy2003 replied to Walker's topic in Accessories and Misc
I am having the same problems with my Audio Technica system, I just can't get a clean quiet bass signal. If I go through the desk with the rest of the band it is better but I want to be able to have my signal seperate so that I can adjust myself. Again if anyone can help it would be appreciated!
Received mine today. Quite a bit of background noise before bass is plugged in. Silent if I use a wire and not wireless, so radio background noise I suppose. When I plug a mic in, crystal clear signal. When I plug my bass in, it's awful. Imagine a badly set noise gate trying to keep up with a high gain pedal. Pluck a string and it gets all hissy. Stop the string vibrating and quiet (well, just radio background noise). I've used the line out of the amp, DI'd into the PSM and back into my amp, gone direct into the PSM, everything I can think of. I've tried passive basses and an active bass. I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas? I could sure do with some help!
-
Does anyone know how many of these were actually made? Seems to me that supply and demand is keeping the price up at the moment just like the MuTron III and the Lovetone Meatball for example.
I genuinely think that with money the way it is for most people they just reached an unattainable and frankly stupid level. £300 max is all I would ever spend on one..be happier in the £200's though...maybe one day..! Yep I am going Andy. How could you miss Marcus this close to home!!! -
Yep the prices seem to be coming down ever so slightly!
i was watching one on ebay this week, seller was doing 'best offer' with a buy it now at $775 - it went for $650 ($48 post to UK) which makes it about £470 not including import duty. I found the Super Synth very hard to programme through my laptop and I am no technophobe!! It really is not terribly user friendly and I got frustrated with it very quickly indeed. By contrast the Deep Impact suits me a lot more as you just have to turn the dial to get the sound that you want! I would say that the Mark Bass gets close but there is just something about the DI that works a lot better for me.
Let me know what you think to the Super Synth. I was intrigued by the youtube vid that showed how much stuff you can edit on your computer. Is it possible to get sounds similar to the Deep impact on it?
Glad that I am not the only one struggling with T15's then!! They do sound terrible, probably ok for listening to an ipod but useless for IEM. Do you think that their dual driver T2 would be much better? Costs a lot more so in theory should but you never know. Snap with the tinnitus!! How do you get the feed from your amp into the IEM receiver?
[sub]I had exactly the problem as you withT15s bought to go with my existing E15 moulded plugs. Absolutly no bass response and very quiet too, usless for IEM. They were used for one gig and then put away in a drawer somewhere. I never thought of contacting ACS though.[/sub] [sub]I now use some Shure SE215s headphones (without my moulded plugs) which do a great job at isolating loud drums/guitars and also have great bass response. I use a Shure IEM and mix a feed from the [sub]my amp [/sub]along with a feed from the PA for vocals and it works a treat. Its just a shame I didn't discover ear plugs or IEMs years ago... before I got tinitus !![/sub]
-

Blimey! Had never heard of these before you mentioned them - amazing prices. They are acrylic thought which would make me a little wary and there would also be VAT and import duty to pay too but certainly a good price.
I'm going to go for Alien Ears when i get mine. I worked it out at about £300/£320 altogether for a set of Triple Driver custom moulds, not sure what it'l be now but i can't imagine it'l be much more. Liam
-

Yep a demo seem like a plan. But what I don't understand is how the AT earphones can sound so much better given that they also only have 1 driver in them and are not moulded? Does not make any sense.
The T15 seems to be an entry level piece and performs accordingly.. You now have a reference for what is what, so I would be looking at the upgrade if it is that good a deal There seems quite a jump in price the T15 price to the other dual/multiple earpieces and that stands to reason if they use dual or triple driver technology. You wouldn't expect 1 speaker to do it all in a bass cab would you..?? the bias would be high or low but wouldn't cover both that well...so assume the same sort of thinking here. However, if you found the AT ear pieces better then that is a bit galling, but then they aren't moulded either..and am not sure that they could be. Get a demo from the multi driver options would be my thinking...
-

Yep to be fair they have been great - and that is one reason why I would like to stick with them. Very rare to get that kind of service and understanding these days.
I don't have anything constructive to add, I just wanted to say how impressed I am to read about ACS's customer service there
-
In Ear Monitors - what to do?
Gunsfreddy2003 replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in Accessories and Misc
I think that it is part of their genetic make up!! -
Evening all, I recently bought a set of T15 monitors from ACS and fitted them into my existing moulded E15 ear plugs to make a set of fully fitted in ear monitors. I was at rehearsal the other night and as I felt that that bass was a little lacking I decided to isolate my signal just to check what it sounded like - bad move!! The sound in my ears was really tinny and starting to distort when I dug in a little. Out of interest I decided to A/B against the supplied ear phones (not moulded to fit my ears) from Audio Technica. To my surprise, the Audio Technica ones sounded infinitely better, loads more bass and no sign of distorting or cracking up. Given that the T15's cost me £149 I was a little disappointed by this! The next day I called ACS and explained my problem and they were horrified and said that they never get calls like this. We concurred that they must be faulty and to send them back for them to check. Yesterday they contacted me and advised that they have tested them thoroughly and there is nothing wrong with them. I was really hoping that they were just a duff pair and new ones would be sent out and problem solved. Has anyone else tried this route with monitors and if so what did you think/find? Wrongly I assumed that expensive monitors in a fully fitted plug would sound great and have more bass then I would ever need. Never dreamed that the stock headphones would sound so much better! Next problem is what to do now - ACS have been great and offered me a full refund or a great deal on their T2 which is a custom fit dual driver monitor which again I have been promised has stacks of low end for bass players. Again anyone tried these? So I can take these or look at monitors by Ultimate Ears, JH Audio or Minerva (which seem really well priced). I think that most of these are acrylic rather than silicone so not sure how comfortable they will be. Any advice or suggestions would be gratefully recieved. The wife says that I should take the money and stick with the cheapy ones from Audio Technica - she would!!!
