I used GAK with no issues until a parcel I sent back to them as return got 'lost' for a week after being delivered. The customer service was the worst I've had from a guitar mail order company, they consistently didn't get back in touch when they said they would, and they made out like it was my fault, even thought it was stated as delivered by the courier company. The guy was short and rude in his emails and clearly showed that he wasn't that bothered. Even when I phoned up they were no better. I sympathised with their position so was pretty easy going with them until they took the p%^#, they appeared like they didn't care and that really wound me up. I got an apology in the end when they found it and after I pointed out in an email how frustrating they'd been, but I'd still never use them again after that experience. Shame really as my many experiences before then had been very positive with GAK.

Really sad, STP are the only band I followed from first album to last and loved them all, Scott's melodies were just so good. RIP.

Another positive post from me about BD...I bought a pedal from them online on Sunday night, Mark took time to acknowledge the sale and reply to my comments about the pedal, he didn't have to of course and that makes me a fan of the shop even more. Having never been inside the shop it's good to hear from Davo that the basses are well set up, if only other shops cared in the same way, or even bothered to learn how to do the basics.

In excellent condition, comes with box and all instructions and booklets. Lovely pedal, but was only briefly on my pedal board. Price includes shipping. No trades please. Cheers. Now £1750 as this is no longer just for trade. In excellent, pristine condition. Made in February 2015, it weighs a tiny touch over 8lbs, has a Jazz Bass neck, Nordstrand pickups and Bartolini preamp. The colour is Sea Foam Green Metallic. It has a push/pull active / passive option, 2 band EQ, passive tone, pickup blend and master volume. Comes with Mike Lull Protec Case, strap locks and Mike Lull certificate. It has an original Mike Lull white pickguard on it ( required an extra pot shaft hole) and comes with the original pearloid white one which it is wearing in the Bass Direct pictures. YouTube video and sound clip is on the Bass Direct website http://bassdirect.co...n_metallic.html After I bought it from Bass Direct I emailed Mark to say thanks and he replied "That bass is exceptional even for a Mike Lull!" It's actually a much better bass than the PJ4 that I'm keeping, but the other is a tiny shade lighter and I am just better suited to it. This one has an incredibly articulate, versatile and modern tone when active thanks to the Nordstrand pickups and Bartolini pre amp. In passive mode it's got some great growl and punch. No trades by post please. A Mike Lull P54 or possibly a Lull 5 string would be on the top of my trade list. Cheers!
The other option would be a preamp pedal that is pretty transparent when set flat. Any thoughts?
I'd use a MXR Micro Amp, second hand they are around £40. Very useful boost pedal.
For me, it isn't just about the weight - it's the balance and the way it hangs - where your hands fall comfortably. This is the honest truth (for me) if you choose to believe it or not. Anyone else have the same thoughts? Cheers.
Agree 100% - I had to sell a stunning bass that was 7.5lbs because the small amount of neck dive it had was an issue for a condition I have. Yet my 8lbs basses balance perfectly so I'm more comfy on them.

As well as the pickup Musicmasters have a different bridge, slab bodies (no body contour), cheaper tuners, no metal control plate and no through body stringing. But, I love the feel of early Musicmaster basses circa 1971, fantastic necks and ripe for the modding.

I bought some strings from Nick, perfect all round and a pleasure as always. Thanks mate

Bought two Lull's from Mark and the guys at the shop, very happy with my basses and very happy with the all round service, including the many emails to Mark before my purchases. BTW, they just got some lovely new Lull's in stock....
