1. Sure it looks cool and proper, but if you're stranded after a gig where will you sleep?

 3.
Dan - this bass will bug me till it's sold! How does it compare as a players instrument to that superbly refinished '57P you sold a while back?
Hard to say without them together Greg, but both are powerhouses of a bass, huge tone and incredible natural warmth. I've been playing this bass non stop, love using it for noodling or playing along to old school RnB, Soul, Creedence and Neil Young type tunes. It has also become my number 1 sittings on the couch bass because of the feel and the vibe. I can recall that the neck on this one is more V shaped compared to the other, so feels more old school and vintage. Would be a crime if this bass didn't get played lots by the next owner, it's natural tone is lovely.
 4.
Awesome looking bass Daniel. I'd grab it if I was after an early 50s P bass..
Cheers Seni, I know where to come when the next Jazz Bass shaped one comes along!
Dan, I suspect that if this was on eBay at a substantially higher price it would sell quickly? OK, it can be quite uncomfortable selling high value items via that route, but the risk can be pretty much mitigated through careful statement of T&Cs in the listing (and obviously if you provide a contact number people will try to deal direct). £6,000 for that bass? As Bacon would say "It's Sale of the f*****g Century"
It's on eBay pal, but no serious interest just yet. Could be a time of year thing, but could also be that at this value people are scared? Thing is, this bass has the all clear from Andy Baxter and a sales receipt for £8k from NKR, how often can you get that on a "sale of the f****ing century?!" This sure is a deal that won't come around again, that's for sure. I suspect it'll end up with a dealer soon, I'll get more cash back but could do without the hassle. Would rather sell it this way if I can. Hope you're enjoying the new studio Chris.
 5. Bump for another price drop.... £6000 o.n.o Where will you ever see a bass like this at this price again? Trade ideas welcome, just not by post please.
 6. Contact Strings and Things UK, you can google their number. Top guys who will tell you the story. Peace of mind is only a phone call away! Enjoy the Ray, would love an ash / maple one again some day.... Edit: And yes, 5 years does seem like a long time for it not to sell but of the 10 and more guitar shops I worked in, not one ever kept a high ticket item in the back for stock rotation purposes. It may just have been in the S&T warehouse for a while, and not selling in that particular shop.
 7. £6200 o.n.o. Bump! Hutton, you're welcome to come over and and have a class of 57 photo. Shaggy, feel free to bring your Las Vegas shades and flares
 8. £300 is a nice price, these are great quality build basses and Neil is a real talent and good guy. Last time I spoke to him he had give up the workshop because his covers band was bringing in big money playing corporate events and the likes of Buckingham Palace. I recall him saying that was a nicer way to earn than being in a basement workshop all day. GLWTS, someone will be well chuffed with that
 9. Why not look at the amp too? Tubes, tubes, tubes....
 10.
How is this still here at that price.......?
Not quite sure myself Chris. The gearbox just went in my car, won't be a cheap fix either so that rules me out on keeping this one. So interested BC'ers, get in touch before I take it to a dealer please, let's talk!
 11.
I've got a couple of grand tucked away under the bed just in case number four come up for sale (a purple sparkly type flea bass!!)
Argh, that's dangerous talk Chris....just as I've got all settled with it again! I was considering selling it so that I can keep this 57, if I was a wise man that'd be the right thing to do for sure. Without a doubt, you will be the very first person to know if my purple sparkly princess comes up for sale again.
 12. Man, that Wal looks tasty Chris GLWTS pal, wish I could justify it....
 13. Not the best looker Ian, but perhaps a starting point in your search... http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/gigbags_detail.asp?stock=09102013164119#main-product-overview
 14.
Oh my God..... Just magnificent!
Thanks Gary, very special indeed
How many times can you sell your soul! I think I'm in double figures!!
Triple figures isn't Chris? What with the 3 Fleas
 15.
This bass is beautiful
Cheers pal. Is that a 66 sunburst I spy in your picture? Looks lovely too.
 16.
I must learn to be grateful for what I've got... doesn't stop me window-shopping, though.
A Basschat member with a wondering flirty eye? Surely not...
 17.
Thanks, D. Now I've got GAS for the 3-Tone P4 with the Lindy pup. Hnnggg...
Haha! Yup, looks tasty that one. Love their P4's. Still, you got that lovely Limelight bro
 18.
Just that I noted that these new ones were going for around £2k whereas the normal price was £3k plus... I wondered if they had a cheaper range..... It may well be that the 'new' ones werren't atcually new, but VGC S/H ones..?? I must admit I didn't have a really good close look as I was looking at other basses... I have to say, from a buyer and marque POV, I don't go for a premium maker downgrading a new cheaper range, generally... I may be mistaken here and they weren't new basses. If that is the case.,.they were holding their SH price well..??
I've noticed on Bass Direct's website that they state a £3k full list price, but sell them for way less, check out the V5 on their site. I've not heard of a cheaper range, and the prices here relatively reflect the US prices. I found they can have a decent second hand price, guess that also depends on spec and demand etc. I met Mike Lull last year, dropped into the workshop for a peek and a chat. He didn't disappoint, friendly, warm and very passionate. It's a huge buzz to know that the guy who built my fave bass is a top man.
 19.
Isn't it also about budget or how much you feel is a justifiable spend?
Exactly that. I feel blessed I could afford a Lull. It's 100% justifiable to me as it beats the pre CBS, Custom Shop, JV snd US std's that I owned, by a country mile, but only with my tastes and needs in mind of course. I have friends at work who can spend £2k on annual holidays, yet I get to keep my Lull for good
 20.
Have to say that Lull are a benchmark... Not many get close altho I saw a few recently at around £2k new....IIRC. I wonder how they compare to the 'proper' ones..?? There is something about bonding with a bass.... and to do that it has to hit your mark in virtually every way...
I actually just sold a Lull PJ4 that is easily the best Lull I've played, but I clicked with my other one more, hard to say why. However if the one I sold was my only Lull, I wouldn't have sold it or looked around, it was that good. All my 3 Lull's have been. What do you mean by 'proper one' JT?
 21. Looking good
 22. In response to JT's post above, I was never satisfied when upgrading a stock bass, only because I always wanted a killer stock bass that was great out of the box as I was never fully satisfied when I did tinker, can of worms fodder for me. I agree with all who say that a cheaper non boutique bass can do a just as good job, it certainly can. But until I find a bass that perfectly balances, weighs, looks, feels and sounds as good as my Lull them I'm sticking to boutique. Can't see myself ever parting with it. Am loving that the OP came back to the dark side of the budget
 23. Lovely looking and sounding bass Mark, enjoy!
