Sounds like a great NBD, killer tones, set up great and tons of options to play with. Toggle switch is a very good touch. Looks really good, loving the white too.

I love those Fender flats too as they have good treble and clarity. I also use the light weight ones, but then for my style light flats always suit me better. I tend to go for the right string for the bass and vibe I'm after. So I go between Thomastik if I need versatility, Fender flat for an old school tone, LaBella flats for a boomy bass tone or coated D'Addarrio nickel for rounds just because my sweat kills rounds easily. Maybe rounds will suit you better on a different bass?

She arrived a few hours ago, I bought her blind and had an expectation which was better than matched when it turned up. I still can't believe I bought a green bass, it's a cool colour but way out of my comfort zone. I was never into the pearloid pickguard but luckily I had a white Lull pickguard from my other PJ4 as I took that one off and replaced it with a parchment one. This is my second PJ4, In fact judging by the fact that it's got the same date on the certificate as my other one they are from the same 'batch'. Both were finished in February this year, I got the other blue one 2 months ago. Though they are both PJ4's, they are totally different tonal animals yet feel the same, react the same and have a familiar vibe about them. I went for another because my other one has flats on and I wanted a slightly different version to have rounds on, but still in my favoured ash and maple combination. Without a doubt, the new one is the better one in terms of hi fi sound. It's got a Bartolini preamp and Nordstrand pickups, the weight, punch and clarity of tone is superb, or 'exceptional' as Mark from Bass Direct said this morning when I emailed to say thanks. The blue one also has Nordstands as well, but a dual coil bridge pickup which gives it a very honky and mid ranged tone, which I love. The blue one is more 'me', but the new green one is right behind and fills the gaps that the blue one can't do. They are a perfect compliment to each other, just what I was hoping for and am now completely over the moon about. One is a touch under 8lbs, one a touch over, but they feel the same and have the weight, balance and feel that is ideal for me, a big reason I got two of the same model. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Thanks to Bass Direct and Mike Lull, I can't imagine having another better suited bass to my needs. Purely from personal experience, I can't agree with this eBay favoring, perhaps it depends on what you're selling? From memory, I've sold 16 high end basses on here. That's cost me £60 over 3 years, on eBay i'd have been charge between £70 - £300 for EACH BASS, averaging around £180 I'd guess. I pulled the trigger on another PJ4 today, looking forward to Saturday morning

It took me over 20 years to join the PJ club. I'm a P Bass player at heart, but I love adding the Jazz pickup for tunes that require it, there is a special tone that comes from two pickups running in parallel. I never use the J on its own on my current PJ, but I'm so glad it's there. On my incoming PJ I may use the bridge in its own from time to time as it sounded great in the demo video.

I bought another bass from Mark today after friendly emailing yesterday... perfect sale again and I'm a very happy punter.

Can't be too long now, hang on in there! That's got to be annoying though. I always though the Fender Custom Shop slogan of 'When you're ready' should actually be more like 'When they're ready' cos the waiting times can be huge.

Check out The Fretboard forum if you haven't already, Strymon gear comes up on there from time to time, they do some very interesting boxes and The Fretboard has a good fx for sale section. I've got no room left on my purposely small board..... Just too many nice boxes out there to tempt us
