I bought a Pedaltrain Nano from Dan, friendly and all good. Plus, there was absolutely nothing satanistic about the deal... I think...

Ibanez SR1206 - anyone tried F# to G tuning?
Chiliwailer replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
Probably sound better on the BTB1206 I'm selling as it has a 35 inch scale. Me, plugging? Never... -
NBD - Warning "first bass" content... from 1964 (not great)
OMG!! Your beginnings must have been "interesting". I was reading on another forum a thread where some guy was talking with envy about how great it must have been "back in the day" when you had to save for weeks to buy a record and having to struggle to find it on sale. He really has no idea.
That'd just be far too patient for today's culture My first bass was a cheap Rockwood, good for that time, but no mojo like yours. -

Your first bass is way cooler than my first bass, have fun with it -

Grolsh style ones are great....until they start wearing out, which very nearly ruined a lovely bass of mine. Then again, maybe the size of the vintage strap button was to blame as I was often removing the strap? Either way, 'proper' locks for me these days. Edit - and very necessary IMO
You could always get a fretless neck to suit, then if you're still not happy with it, sell the lot as a set. Seen it done that way before.
True, would definitely work well for some, but I'd prefer to avoid the hassle of bitsers tbh -
I pass through Harrow on my travels and also meander through much of the South of this island for work. So if anyone is interested and want it collected and delivered, feel free to let me know. I can also do a "cash on collection" and get the money to our bro, Chilliwailer, if you're worried about such things.
Sincerest of thanks brother, I really am quite taken back by that incredible offer. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to post at the moment so your generosity is very humbly appreciated. Top man
That is a really good price. I just sold one elsewhere and got 50 quid more than what you are asking.Had plenty of interest in it too. The passive ones don't seem to be seen as much either. lovely bass..... GLWTS!
Cheers pal, it almost seems silly selling it considering what you get for the price. But then again I have a SR5 and Modulus Flea so it's kinda covered anyway, I'm basically just scared of ripping out the frets and then changing my mind! -
Having shared some emails with Chris recently I am really am gutted for him that this is up for sale, but totally understand the dilemma he's been facing. I'm even more gutted that I don't have the funds to buy it back, I never wanted to sell it in the first place but the cash was needed elsewhere. I also used to own the CS55 that Chris has pictured and is keeping, that is an incredible bass with no faults at all, but I actually bonded more with the original 57 P Bass, it is special and full of vintage history mojo. Bargain for the right BC'er hope it sells soon so I can stop pondering how to get it back

Up for grabs is a passive USA made Stingray S.U.B. Bass. Most of you already know, these are the discontinued ones that Ernie Ball ended up losing money on, the quality is outrageously good for the money. These aren't made in the East like the newer Sterling SUBS. The output on this one is HUGE, it matches my active Stingray 5 and sounds exactly like a Stingray should. Loads of growl and thump, beautiful Stingray mids and highs, jumps through the mix. Honestly, you'd think it was active when plugged in as it has a great big tone. I bought this with a view to defret it, but now I'm not 100% sure if I want a fretless Stingray or Jazz, decisions decisions.... In great condition, just the odd mark on the headstock and set up great. The colour is Burgundy, it changes in the light so I've taken a few different photos. It's a gorgeous colour. Unfortunately can't post right now, so it's collection only please. £350 for a USA made killer bass... Nice Cheers. Ever met a famous musician…. but not realised at the time?
Chiliwailer replied to Kex's topic in General Discussion
Great stories up there, got a few myself. First up is a Keith Levene, met him in 1999 and we instantly clicked and saw each other regularly. About 10 months later when we started to play together I asked him which band he used to be in, when he said PiL I felt proper foolish, but he absolutely loved that I was his friend for who he was, and not what he used to be. We've been close pals ever since. In 1996 I think, a tramp looking guy came into a guitar shop I worked in, early Monday morning. He asked to play a very pricey dobro, we let him have a play and were all blown away by his playing. He humbley handed it back and said "I'll come back later with my manager". We all thought he was a rock n roll casualty, but he came back with his manager and a BBC film crew, turns out it was Peter Green getting ready for the Splinter Group. Such a lovely man, a bit odd, but a real pleasure to meet. I was once joking with another customer about capo's, he started it off and was funny as f***. When he left my mates were like "that's Mike Myers". Top bloke he was. I'll probably remember more later, 12 years in Denmark Street threw up some great celeb and muso stories. -

Pick up booster pedal... Does it work with bass
Chiliwailer replied to jonnythenotes's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all you replies, opinions and advice guys. I am pretty keen on the MXR micro custom shop model, so I might give that a bash....unless some of you know better.... Cheers
I used to have one to balance my active and passive basses. I should have known better than to sell it, great pedal -

I didn't get on with my pitch black tuner.
-
Glad to hear the pickup height helped. There's always SD Quarter Pounders too (edit, ignore that, huge poles! ) Are your two basses the same scale length? Could it be a tension v's playing style issue? ( so same strings, different response?)
-
Also, do you trust the tech? Brass nut badly cut perhaps? Schallers are pretty good btw, doubt it's them.
-
I tried a different set of the same strings as i always use the same ones, and it's the same with the new ones. I tried the pencil lead but the nut is brass, it doesn't seem to come off when I draw in the slots! When I had the neck made, I asked for hipshot USA as I had the money for those at the time, but the luthier convinced me to go with schallers and I really don't like them at all so I'm a bit gutted that I paid out for them. I would like to change them but can't afford it right now. I should have stuck to what I wanted
How's the pickup height? So many times I've seen it cause tuning issues when too high. Is the bridge in the right place for the new neck?
-
The usual suspects are: Duff strings String windings around the tuning head either crossed over or there's too few winds Pickup too high so the magnets mess with the vibration Nut needs some pencil lead in it Tuners need tightening or the gears have slipped or worn Good luck, should be fixable with some trial and error and perhaps pro help.
