  1. But isn’t the East just one connection for earth, and one for the signal? I’d put the earths together and off you go. (For each separate pickup).
  2. I found a wiring diagram - shows two earths and one for signal. Hope that helps. Also, just to say I had a J-Tone with some Fralin HC pickups, unfortunately the J-Tone couldn’t handle the output and was clipping. I spoke to John East, he was baffled too. I had to sell it. Hopefully it’ll be better with the Aguilars.
  3. Interesting article. Perhaps the shops really are safe, among the huge developments, and in line for an uplift...which would be nice. Venues too. https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/denmark-street-music
  4. You’re right, I doubt I could have ever sold it had I bought it. I still had the purple FB4, and that was why at the time I couldn’t justify buying it. ...and stop thinking about thinning that hurd of yours!
  5. Love that bass so much - always regretted not getting the last one from Bass Direct - and it was 7.5lbs 😢
  6. The neck could be a Nightingale - Phillipe and Neil have shared workshop space over the years. Phillipe is a top bloke, great at what he does. GLWTS
  7. ^^^ well that caught me off guard! Nice 👍
  8. Almost! The StingRay Special is a huge upgrade, as is the Bravewood Jazz. The purple Modulus is missed, but in very good hands and getting the show time it deserves with @hiram.k.hackenbacker
  9. This one is the closest comparison... 🤣
  10. Started the year with one bass. Then bought one back, got a couple more, and am now back on track oddly with a very similar set up to 2016... 🤔
  11. You’re not far off the truth, when I worked in a vintage specialist shop, just over a decade ago, the word was that the top US dealers met annually to discuss that year’s pricing.
  12. Watch out, my last set had a dead E string 😂😂😂 Sure you’ll be fine though 👍
  13. @dmccombe7 - given your experience I’d have a peek at these to see if they tick any boxes - D’Addario half wound https://www.daddario.com/products/guitar/bass-guitar/xl-half-rounds/enr71-half-rounds-bass-regular-light-45-100-long-scale/
  14. Back to the drawing board then!
  15. Gutted to hear that - I wasn’t aware of QC issues. But you do hear about it, even from other companies Shame you had that experience, my last sets were great. How did the other strings sound/feel? Not worth another try then from a different supplier?
  16. What’s your first impressions?
  17. Worth the high landing cost then? Guess you sold them on?
  18. £40 collected I bought this new, just to put under a couch that our rabbits were exploring! So it’s never been used. Though it may no longer be needed as a recent bass purchase came with a new Hiscox - though tbh I don’t actually need that one either, but will see if this one sells. It was B-stock, so has a couple of cracks in the plastic (pictured) - though being in the corner it’s still structurally strong. Keys are present. Collection prefered, and seems more realistic tbh for a cheap case. Cheers
  19. I’ve been checking YT vids of the Lane Poor and it does sound better IMO too. I’d like a Legacy, but seems only Planet Bass sell them, and are sold out, but $250 might be a dealbreaker too ...
  20. Paid in full to Bass Direct. It was only ever going to be inevitable 🤗
  21. My luck was in then 😊 Cheers, John’s onto a good thing 👍
  22. I might as well just buy the Aguilar now then...why wait for the bass to arrive first? 🤣
  23. Hope you do manage to keep hold, it’s a beauty and one hell of a rescue makeover.
  24. Yup - I had a feeling I’d be spending an extra hundred-odd quid next week when the FB4 with Barts arrives! 👍
  25. Interested to know what you think about the pre’s? I imagine the Bart being more polite, and the Aguilar more ballsy?
