  1. I’d have had to upgrade the Smoothound…
  2. Next Saturday Pete, Service Station - not played there before. Apparently a bit of a rockers place so we’ll see how Glam goes down 🤣🤣🤣
  3. A very local gig for me last night, only 4 minutes drive (yes I timed it 🤣). Place was a WMC in the next village that’s only just started to have bands back on after a couple years hiatus. It was about 2/3rds full which was nice as it’s a big old place and even 50 people would have made the place look empty. Quite a few people were non regulars who’d seen us at other places in West and South Yorkshire so that was appreciated. One guy brought a small entourage and a selection of wigs and hats in line with our glam theme that he let the masses wear. All in all a decent night, paid more than agreed and promises of more gigs. Next week it’s the middle of Hull….
  4. Can't argue with that, I find it much easier to pull the G off the fretboard on my G&L Fallout than on my string through Mustangs. I've put heavier gauge strings on my (new to me) Lionel and the tension is similar to the Mustangs.
  5. I find the neck on my Mikey Way mustang to be more comfortable than the JMJ for similar reasons. If it wasn't for the great sound on the JMJ, which I think is partly down to the chunkier neck I'd consider a swap over.
  6. Quickly got over $3k…..just need a little lottery win.
  7. I'll keep you in mind mate. I'll be gigging it for a month then I may need to make a choice as I've got 3 other shorties in the stable (JMJ Mustang, Mikey Way Mustang and G&L US Fallout) and 4 is really one too many.
  8. Back in the Sandberg fold after picking up this nice soft core aged Lionel from a fellow basschatter yesterday. Just fitted my strap locks of choice and I’ll pick up some appropriate string’s tomorrow (it’s currently wearing some longscale flats…) and then it’ll be good for next weekends gigs. Didnt know what to expect on the relicing, it’s very different to my JMJ, doesn’t look artificial at all, similar to how my old 1990 Stingray looked after 15 years of heavy use.
  9. Good catch, good to see it going to a home where it'll get played rather than become a wall ornament.
  10. Lovely basses these, I've got the 'miami blue' variant. Plenty of punch in a gigging situation GLWTS.
  11. I agree the decal is off putting - shallow I know. I keep intending to do mine but then remember how hopeless I am at detail work. If I could find a local guy to do it for less than £100 I’d get it done.
  12. To be honest if my later made Gen 1 is anything to go by there was very little to fettle. As said before the pre was swapped for a JE but a cheaper option would have been the drop in VTC. Other than a set up, that was it. I’d be hard pushed to see £500 difference to a new model, particularly on the Fretless.
  13. That looks nice, sort of a 4004 vibe, are the pups Humbuckers like the 4004L/4004Cii? I briefly had a 4004Cii and wasn't that impressed with the sound to be honest - it didn't have the bite of a 4003. I'm told it improves if the pots are changed though (resistance), the stock pots in the 4004 are just wrong....
  14. To be honest when I had mine it felt more long scale than short, I didn't feel the need to make an adjustment like I do when moving between my 34" and 30". I've not really found any other bass channel the Rick vibe, they are a singular beast, I'd suggest looking at one of the good Japanese fakers if money is an issue.
  15. One last push on this one before I shelve the idea and go to plan B. I have a trade value for this and would consider an offer that betters this. I'm already wavering on letting this one go so I'll float this for a day or so before committing.
  16. Also excited to see the Pawn Shop but it would mean pushing on one of my Mustangs, likely the Mikey Way sig which I know I'd regret

  18. Had a longhorn and foolishly sold it as I didn’t like the crème brûlée colour scheme…..but this looks awesome
  19. I think the stock pups are pretty good, I gather the stock pre is a bit meh which is why people stick in a proper Sadowsky one or the East.
  20. The previous owner of mine had a John East installed - perfect.
  21. Yep @carlsim I need to do just that, and pretty it up a bit.
