1. John just made me up another loom same high standards as usual same great communication, same great delivery thanks John lovely job
 2.
A bass in that condition regardless of the make is still a battered looking bass IMO. And history, what history? OK it's old, but there's no history in the listing other than it's been owned by Pino, and the consensus seems to be that he's not been seen using it on anything significant. Who owned it before him and what was it used on? Old doesn't automatically equal better for anything.
I agree a bashed up old bass is just that granted some people really like that kind of thing so fair play to them but to me it is just an abused bashed up old lump of wood even if money was no object I would not by it or anything like it
 3. Here is a crude picture showing the measurements of the tuners I have measured the holes from centre to centre and the bushing hole is 18mm standard size and the base plate is 25.33mm at the smallest part and 30.2mm at the widest part and the width is 42.71mm if that helps anyone out please excuse my naff drawing lol
 4.
I've been using a Maplins variable temp one like this for years: YMMV, but I'd not exchange it for a more expensive one - never had any problems with it. Changed the tip once as it got dinked when a hammer fell on it.
I think if I ever buy another I would go for one of those too and they are only about £20 so that is quite a fair price
 5.
In Britain the Electrical good standards dictate maximum lengths of cables for many goods. This includes kettles, toasters, and soldering irons. Buy an extension lead... or take one out of your gigging kit! Hey, maybe that's why the Scots want independence; longer leads on soldering irons!
I did not know that those standards dictated length and I do use a decent extension lead to me though the Antex does feel quite flimsy but in all fairness for the price it cost maybe I have been a little unfair on it
 6. Cheers Maude spot on nice one thank you kind Sir
 7.
Rubbish. Your arms are too long.
8.
He seems like a very angry person. There is something about the whole listing I don't like...can't decide what though, other than its general angry tone. I also don't like that it has sold (relatively cheaply) twice and yet it is still up for sale, despite his reasons...
I agree his tone is a bit angry but if he has been messed about as much as he claims he has I can kind of see why anyway the bass sold for £2,555 in the end
 9. I like JD and to be honest I did not really realise how much he contributed to the music of Queen until I picked up a bass myself all I know is that if I was half as good as him I would be a happy bunny
 10. Hi Up for sale I have some no name bass pickups they were removed from a project I tested them before removing them and they sound quite nice to my ear more suited for rock/ heavy rock as they have a nice thump to them the pickups will come with the wiring loom/jack socket still attached to them the chrome knobs for the wiring loom and the screws and springs and pickup covers so it is all ready to stick in to a bass I would like £12.50 posted please
 11. Hi Up for sale I have a set of tuners these are chrome no name tuners they seem to be of a pretty good quality and work as they should are in nice condition they will come with the bushes and mounting screws (1 screw missing) I was going to use these on my bass build project but have decided to go for black hardware instead of chrome So I think £15 posted is pretty fair reduced to £12.50 posted
 12. Hi Guys I have for sale a BBOT style bass bridge this was the bridge I removed from my project bass I was going to use it as it is in good condition and seems a nice weight but I have decided to go for black hardware instead the bridge comes with mounting screws (7) not much more I can say its a bridge lol just as a note the marks on it will be cleaned off before sending there just dust and fingerprint smudges £6.50 posted please
 13. Hi I am no soldering expert but I have an antex 40W kit and it is bloody hopeless the cable is extremely short and it just feels so cheap and nasty it is OK for soldering wires together but anything more not so much I have heard some good things about the maplin temp controlled irons and tips and stuff seem to be pretty cheap
 14.
Also, to help get an even coverage, and avoid runs, don't try to follow the outline of the body when doing the front and back. Imagine the body as a rectangle and spray that rectangle in nice even passes, if you try to follow the outline you will overload the areas where the spray passes inevitably cross, especially on the front around control cavities. You will use more paint this way as a lot will be overspray but it will achieve a more even coverage. Please don't think I'm teaching granny to suck eggs as I realise you've sprayed before, just helping if I can ................ BTW, where the hell does that 'granny sucking eggs' thing come from?
Thanks for your help and advice it is greatly received and I don't think you are teaching me to suck eggs I did not think about doing it as a straight panel and I was going to do the front first and the sides last lol but now I shall be doing as you suggested it makes a lot more sense just one one other thing is one coat of primer ok ? I am going to be sanding most of the old paint away and trying to get it back to the wood and also how many coats of colour and lacquer do you think should be applied? thanks to all for the help thus far
 15. I always seem to find that guitarists always bang out Enter Sandman by Metallica which is fine by me lol and I used to hate going into some music shops and asking to try basses as the young shop assistants that seem to serve you pick up the bass and play it and have some kind of "hey look at me I am so good Bass w***fest lol" and some of them really are great bass players but I dont want to hear them playing I want to try the bass myself hence one of the reasons I tend to buy on here or online anyway back on topic lol love what your shop says Spacechick
 16.
I find the problem is getting a uniform finish on all sides at once. Tried a bent piece of wire through a neck screw hole onto the easing line and that seemed to work. Still tricky though!
Agreed it is going to be a challenge I have only done nice easy straight car panels
 17.
The last one I did I used all of 2 large halfords cans for the colour and 2 similar size for the nitro clear coat (R&F). I might have gone overboard for a nice thick finish, but one can is not enough. Hope that helps!
Thanks bren that helps quite a bit now I just need to choose the colour I have 3 in mind lol
 18. Just a quick question but how many cans of 400ml spray paint do I need to spray a bass body and how much lacquer to finish it ? Thanks in advance I have sprayed a few motors in the past but have no idea how to go about doing a bass lol
 19.
Bit like this......
Yep along those lines:)
 20. Cheers guys for the helpful input much appreciated I am thinking of having a decal done in the Fender style but it would go something like this Faker Precision Bass Serial ???????? That seem tacky or a good idea?
