1.
Good grief! You lot make my hand and wrist issues sound like a fun day out!
These topics are always interesting. I always think i have problems, but some people have a horrific time in comparison to me. It makes me feel i am lucky in comparison.
2.
Can I ask what the treatment was? I've lost the use of my left hand to arthritis and it seems I'm allergic to the anti-inflammatories I've been prescribed, I swelled up like the Elephant Man and had severe breathing difficulties Basically I'd try anything to get back to a normal life.
The treatment is called Anti-TNF. You have to inject it yourself every week. You have it prescribed by a specialist. Etanercept is the one i take. http://www.patient.c...-anti-tnf-alpha . Perhaps you should print it out ready for your next doctors appointment, to show him/her. I would urge anyone who has arthiritis to at least let your doctor know all about it,plus your specialist, so hopefully it will help get it in their mind. Apparently it is quite hard to get, as i am told it costs around £1000 a month. Before i had it, i was on the verge of giving up work. Since i have been on it, around 5 years ago, all the swelling in my knees has gone, which was there for around 10 years./ The pain in my neck is not too bad at all, and i can actually pick myself up of the floor now, which was virtually impossible without having something to lean on. It has stopped any more damage so far. I can also play the bass, although badly, which is something i couldn`t even contemplate 6 years ago. I have it for psoriatic arthritis.
3. Jennifer Finch. No idea if she was a great player, but as a grungy punk type band, i doubt she was up the top of the tree. I liked her sound though. The bass drove the songs along. Good link for the Adverts. Haven`t heard that in many a year
4. That is not good. I started the guitar root when i was 12, and wasn`t too bad at it. At 19 i had arthiritis, and i had to stop. About 6 years a go, i got a great treatment that has made everything so much more managable. I took up the bass last year as i have a few wrist and finger issues that make it hard to play chords, and am doing ok. I guess the message here, is don`t give up hope, as maybe some treatment will be found soon. Obviously arthiritis is probably an advantage over your issues in terms of money and science being thrown at it, but don`t give up. I never thouight i would be given a second chance. Anyway, best wishes for the future
5. Hmmm. Not even a proper Fender, but with decals to make it look as if it is. It is a bit of a stretch to call something broken as relice'd. I wouldn`t think it is as easy a repair as he makes out either.
6. I bought a Clover bass from there last year. I had to change to left handed, as i couldn`t play right. I couldn`t play a note at the time. I said i was interested in the Clover, and an MTD. He said he wasn`t prepared to go upstairs all the time to get that many down, which i was a bit disappointed as i wanted to handle a Roscoe. Anyway, the Clover being £1200, and the MTD being £900 or so, i just said that anything more than £1200 was probably a bit expensive. He talked to me as if i was a cheapskate. It did put me off. Anyway, he plugged me in, and he left me too it, which i was happy with as i couldn`t play a thing, so i just plonked away to see which was comfortable. Then he did whatever in the office, and he seemed to change from a bit offish to really helpfiul and talkative. Perhaps it depends on how busy he is at the time. I phoned him a few weeks later, and bought a strap from him, and he was really chatty. Then i saw him at the LBGS, and again he was fine. I would always try to buy from him if he was competitive, as he is the closest bass shop to me, and i think it is important to try to support them as much as possible. I guess you just have to take him as you find him.
7.
R2 DJ Mark Radcliffe (formerly of Mark and Lard fame) has toured a Feelgoods tribute supporting Wilko which frankly takes some balls, IMO. Seen below with BC-er Wayne58 on bass. Good band and in no way a vanity project.
Marc Radcliffe was also in Cock Sparrer before they got very political, and racist.
8. I wouldn`t say it is my favourite tour shirt, but it has a special place. Gary Moore in 2009. Other than that, i had a tour shirt from Sultans of Ping FC, which fell apart, along with Are You Normal, Neds Atomic Dustbin.
9. If it is around 100 miles away from Gloucester, and i am not working, i would be interested

Fender Jaguar

I read an article about Jaguars being made in the USA. I assumed it was all the range , as there was a photo of the pawnshop one . After reading it again, it is only the one model.
12. It would be intersting if he told us who he was, instead of being all mysterious.
13. As a beginner in learning to read music, i find that tab can help with some of the bits i can`t read. However, i would prefer transcription over tab any day.
14. If it were really Jaco`s, i would at least have tried to get a photo of him with it. He may as well have said it is the Bass of Doom, as it would be about as believable as the one he is trying to sell. He says in the blurb that he was taken to meet him by a friend and was given it. Then he changed it all and took the bass to show Jaco what he had done. I can believe the first time he forgot to ask for a photo, but 2 years later, surely you would start to think of it`s worth even before Jaco died. I ain`t havin it that he has not got at least a photo of Jaco playing it.

Fender Jaguar

I see that Fender are making a USA Jaguar model. I wouldn`t mind one, but alas it seems that they aren`t making left handed bass, as far as i can see. The thing that gets me though, is they go to the trouble of this. http://www.fender.com/basses/jaguar/pawn-shop-reverse-jaguar-bass-maple-fingerboard-2-color-sunburst/
16. Ahhh, that is a shame for me. I am working that day. I had such a good time last year. The workshops that were put together were great. I learned a lot that day.
17. I guess the problem with fakes is the variable quality. Ok, some genuine articles are questionable, but there should be some recourse if it fails. If you get electrocuted from a dodgy fake, where do you go ?
18. I think there is a difference between a copy and a fake. Most copies don`t set out to decieve, but fakes do. It is really only a problem if you are buying what you think is original, but turns out to be a fake. If you buy a fake knowingly, then you will pay the price for the inferior product.
19. An article about Shure Microphones. It starts at 28.45 and about 5 minutes long if anyone is interested. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01jv9pk/fake-britain-series-3-episode-14
20.
Love it! Is that the one that was on eBay until recently?
No. I didn`t see the one on ebay. Did you see how much it went for? I bought it new last year from Bass Direct
21. I am assuming the last one is a Fender. What are the other 2 please Spike?
22. I read every post of this topic in half hour. Do i get a prize?
23.
Here we go. This should make things clearer. I have changed the key, but the notes are the same.
That is much clearer for me. Thank you. I have printed it off,so going to have a crack at it tonight
24.
..?
I meant i misread the natural for a flat, thinking it was just the computer sign for a flat instead of a b. It got me confused as i have not advanced to reading that yet. and not seen the natural before. I am very basic at the moment
