1. Couldn`t this one and the South West meet up be combined? If it is in Devon, then that is in the South West, and be accesible to more people further inland.
2.
I saw EW&F in the 70s and it was one of the best live shows i've ever seen complete with levitating bass players (Verdine White) and the finale where all of the band get into a massive triangular thing and are hoisted into the air then it all falls apart and hey presto! there's no one in it.
Perhaps it was the same show. That is exactly how he described it.
3.
jeez. i think there as relevant today as they were back then. its what you take from it. imo.
Yes, of course they are relevant today, as they were a big part of the era. That i look back with nostalgia, and realise they are still a great band, is testament that to me, they are still relevant
4.
Fair point gadgie, I'm sure that guy won't be giving Peter Frampton another penny of his money. Luckily he's in the position not to give a toss
If it is a bass chatter, i hope it will be posted in the tenuous link to fame topic.
5. What is the point of them? Are they good instruments? It looks like something you would see in a craft type shop for £30
6. I guess what i am getting from this, is it is fine taking a few photos, and a bit of video footage, but don`t be a prick about doing it.
7. I like them. September is a classic. I think it maybe more a case of going back to your childhood type of thing. I am into all trhe old disco type stuff. Some good stuff in that era.I never had the opportunity to see them, but a workmate said they were the best band he has seen live. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs069dndIYk
8. That is why i say that you would be better going to one of the meet ups. If you see 1 person, that may have a required need, you may base it on the one person, but no one else wants the same.. At the bass meet, you may see 100 people who will have the majority saying they want certain things over otheres. It would be far better to make for the majority, and see which ones to specialise in. Mind you, i have no busness experience, so i have no idea if it is a good suggestion.
9.
[Robert Robinson] Ah, but is he, sir..? There's the rub..! (taps side of nose knowingly...)[/Robert Robinson]
I would have liked to follow that up with a Frank Muir quote, but sadly i don`t know any.
10. Perhaps you should take a strap, or pass one on, and take to one of the many basschat meetings. There are plenty around, and you could reach a wide range of different people with different requirements.
11.
I can see both sides of this issue. Frampton clearly doesn't like it and I suppose he has every right to impose whatever conditions he wants at his concerts. On the other hand, the fans are paying good money to support his lifestyle so why shouldn't they be able to take photos or video as a poor quality memento of what is a special event for them? These 'stars' are not doing anything inherently important and they are only in their positions because of their fans. Phones seem to arouse strong emotions in people. I was once on a train and someone opposite was talking to someone on their mobile phone in a perfectly normal voice. The guy next to me started tutting loudly, rolling his eyes, staring at the person on the phone, looking at other passengers to register his disgust etc. in fact, he was making more of an exhibition of himself than the person on the phone! I found his reaction very odd indeed. If two people in the same carriage had been talking to each other I doubt there would have been the same reaction.
Is that like saying that it is perfectly acceptable to take your phone into your local cinema, and record the whole film, then put it on the net? After all, Tom Cruise is only where he is today because of his fans. I think if the venue has stipulated no photography, then i can`t see how you can moan when your phone gets lobbed. I guess it can go the other way for new bands though. A good video on youtube could do wonders.
12.
Hahaha! Brilliant! To be fair there was a very strict policy and even PF himself asked the guy to stop but to no avail. Not surprised he launched his phone!
That is what i thought to be fair. Even though it was strict, i doubt he wouldv`e been really uptight if it was just the one photo, and that was it.
13. http://www.guitarplayer.com/artists/1013/peter-frampton-pitches-annoying-fans-cell-phone-to-rafters/48303 Having never played in front of a live audience, do you people think he is right? Is it a particular bugbear of live bands. I can understand comedians getting frustrated as their tour could be ruined after the first show. I guess it helped that the couple were being idiots, and it served them right. I will admit to taking a 2 minute video of a band, only because a friend wanted to go but couldn`t make it, just so is could show him what he missed. I really can`t understand why someone would want to watch the whole show through a little lens though, as it wasn`t enjoyable.
14. I bought mine from Richer sounds. It has no Sub, but the bars are bigger than the ones that come with the sub apparently. I get plenty of bass from it. The reason i got one without, was because my tv is on the party wall. Someone i work with says they can`t have it on in their house because the neighbours complain, so i went with that.Plus a recommendation from Richer Sounds person
15.
I thought this thread was going to be a bizarre tale of taking the love of a bass to the next level.
Same here
16. WHat does OLP mean? Oh it is ok, i found the answer. Officially Licensed Product
17.
Didn't she tour with Jamiroqai or whatever after these vids?
Yes, but as far as i know, she never played live on stage with them. I have seen some photos of her on the tour, but never one of her actually live, just on the soundcheck before anything started.
18. It must be a good exercise as it looks very boring, so i reckon i will give it a go
19. Funnily enough, i just saw this.It could be an interesting read, and widen my knowledge of female bassists. http://bassmusicianmagazine.com/2014/08/female-bassists-august-2014-7th-anniversary-issue/
20. I am not qualified enough to determin who is technically great, and that goes for male and female, but i know who i like.
21. Bought a Boss ME-50B from Martin. From the initial contact, it took less than 24 hours for it to arrive. Great piece of kit, and as smooth a transaction as you could hope for. Gavin
22. If it is around the £10 mark, then i will have it off you. No idea what i would do with it, but it looks like a bit of fun can be had . I will await your instructions
23. How much is the postage n this please?
