1. If influential live albums are concerned, i guess Peter Framptom Comes Alive needs a mention as it is one of the biggest selling live albums
2. If any of you have access to a forensic lab, you may be able to find out if it is John Entwhistles hair in the bridge
3.
First disk I ever bought; just struck lucky, really. I've bought it goodness knows how many times since, in all sorts of formats (worn out, lost...). My favourite version is still the UK running order, now no longer available, which starts with 'My Best Friend' (the drum taps as an intro..!). Certainly a 'Desert Island Disk'. Sublime.
I am a fairly late starter in the San-Francisco Bay sound. They screened Woodstock on one of the terrestrial channels about 15 years or so ago. I got into the music from that really. I like The Who, so watched it becuase they were on it. I liked Janis Joplin before i watched it, but started discovering more of her stuff, along with all the other bands that were on it. Although Surreal Pillow is not my all time favourite album, it captures that psychedelic hippy sound of the time perfectly. That is why i put it down as a classic that needs listening to, along with Them Kozmic Blues that was mentioned earlier. Off to listen to some QMS now
4. I would have to go for Surrealistc Pillow - Jefferson Airplane.
5. I must have been lucky with my streamer. I haven't had any quality issues yet, although I have only had ot around 3 months
6. What difference will it make from having a bass made in Germany, or Korea? I assume the electronics will be the same as the Korean made, as they are German. I assume the shape of the bass and neck will be the same. I assume they will be made in the same way. The only difference will be stamped German. Will it be a lot different or better?
7. I wonder if Beyonce is embarrassed by his outbursts?
8.
Kanye West is quite high up on my list of people that i would like to punch... not quite as high as bono... but getting there
I think he has surpassed Bono. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2431955/Kanye-West-Best-liners-BBC-interview-says-really-god.html
9. This is the first and only song that i know of his. After hearing it, i just wondered how he became a well known rapper. a very third rate rapper. I am surprised Jools Holland would want to showcase this http://youtu.be/cuZEjI0AWRY
10. I read a book about Bill Graham, the Fillmore promotor. He hated rock drum solo`s, and Ten Years After were playing. They have long drum solo`s in the set. He booked Buddy Rich to appear before them. He played his set . As Ten Years After started to take the stage, Bill Graham said follow that to the drummer. He said there were no long drum solo`s. Buddy Rich blew the audience away. I don`t think there will ever be a better drummer than Buddy Rich.
11.
Anyone had problems getting stereo phones to work in a mono socket, for example an amp? I've got Behringer phones with the dual size stereo jack, and when using as 1/4" or the smaller size I have to fiddle around and get the plug an exactly the right position for them to work, ie they don't work when pushed right in and have to be sort of halfway in to work. Perhaps the phone are rubbish, they weren't expensive but it would still be nice if they worked ok. Thanks Phil
I have no problems with mine in my amp or my mp3 player
12.
The GAK price of £549 is without the transmitter.
Lucky i didn`t steam in with the credit card thinking i was getting a bargain then
13.
But the single most amazing thing was watching him play a load of those old tracks he cut in the 70's with his little band, and realising how incredibly musical he could make one note, where I would probably have played 6. When I asked him about it his simple answer was "They didnt pay me by the note though, did they Si". Genius!
I guess that is an one answer to the people who ask what makes a musician a pro
14. I had never really heard of compression before, so i can say i have learned a lot from having a pro on here. Not that it was the way i would`ve liked or intended to find out about a subject. As for learning from a pro, i guess it depends on what you are asking. If you ask the right question, i would imagine they could be a treasure trove of info if they were willing to impart it. I find some of the Youtube clips of a couple of the pros we had on here very helpful. I would have liked to have asked one in particular a question on one of his videos he posted, sadly, i won`t get that chance.
15. If it sounded good, i would pay around £100 less than the RRP. I think it would look nice in my living room. Pity we didn`t get a demo of the sound in the NAMM clip. They are priced at £549 at Gak, so slightly cheaper than the RRP. Might be under £500 in 6 months time
16. I'm finding this useful. Took a while for me to get going from an average of around 8 seconds down to 4
17.
'You remind me of Suzi Quatro' Nothing wrong with that, mind you! And to be fair, I do look more like her than I do any other female bass player. (Not that the punters will have heard of any other female bass players. Probably couldn't name any male bass players either, lol )
If you insist on wearing the tight leather jump suit, what do you expect?
18. I see Ashdown have a stand at the London Bass Show. I know you can only bring so much stuff to a show, but perhaps you could put one of these things on the back seat of someones car, and bring along.
19. Ther drummer sounds ok, so perhaps you should see if you can find another guitarist, singer
20. I can give you absolutely no advice on this, except to look at the amps and cabs in the for sale section. I would imagine you would be able to pick up some nice gear for £600. That will use up some of your time while waiting for someone to come along who knows what they are talking about.
21.
I have an E10 for sale for a silly price too: http://basschat.co.u...e-amp-just-l65/
If it sounds as good as mine, i think it is a bargain
22. Thanks for that. The next question, is about cabs. As it is a 250 watt amp, is there any "rules" about the cab to get. Would it work well with a 100 watt cab and not blow the speaker for example? Or should i try to get a cab to match the wattage?
23. The Eden EC10 sounds good. I haven`t had many to compare it too, but i like it. It gets good reviews.
24. Could it be the Washburn body he bought of Ebay?
25. I am hopefully going to be moving into my shed soon, and after giving some thought on a valve amp , i have decided agains itt, and thought this might fit the bill. I like the sound of th Toneprint feature. Would it be a good choice? It doesn`t seem too bad for £200
