Bought a solderless harness (pots, capacitor and jack) for my Precision. Great bit of kit, easy to install and arrived the day after posting. Needed some advice due to my installation, which John comprehensively answered through a string of advice. Great service.

One was sold on here a number of years ago. Not sure if it gives any sort of baseline value! Bought a Korg Pitcblack from Jack. Arrived within days and in great condition.

Bought a Bergantino EX112 from Anthony recently. Immaculate condition is an understatement. I dont think there is a single bobble on the tolex. A pleasure to deal with. Plus, his dog is sweet :-)

Can't go wrong with Markbass for using pedals with. I got the SA450, which is so clean (some call it sterile) that you get nothing but the tone of your bass/or effects if using them.

I've only tried the Little Mark series and currently got a SA450, so don't know how the Tube/TTE sound. I'm assuming they sound very good though, with a good solid EQ range. Nice little plug too...

Markbass on it's own will probably be too clean for that warm, vintage, woody tone. However, Markbass with a sansamp, or even behringer VT pedal, that will nail it.

Flight cases would be the obvious one, but could prove costly. You could alway have a go at making some wooden storage crates yourself.

For less than £200, I'd say it has to be a Yamaha BB414 if you want a general, versatile workhorse. If looking at a Jazz scope, then can't go far wrong with a Squire VM Jazz.

Bit of a techno noob here, so looking for a bit of advice. I have a Behringer BDI, and want to use it for home practice without going through my amp. I've gathered that I need a headphone amplifier or small mixer to go through to headphones. That's a decent deal. Nearly £100 cheaper than the TC as well.

I can't answer the question, sorry, but very interested in the answers/advice hopefully forthcoming. I'm trying to decide between the TC and the Hartke Hydrive at the moment, for small gigs. I use a Markbass head as well.

A 2'nd hand (as not produced anymore) Markbass SA450 would be within your budget. A very good amp, especially for clean thump. Can also dial in a touch of grit just using the VLE on it. Very responsive to pedals aswell.

Donslow! I was trying to solve a similair dilemma, but not requiring the power you appear to be after. I was seeking that vintage, clean, yet warm tone. You could try using a Markbass with a VT pedal in front. Markbass amps, by rule, are very clean and tight. The VT pedal could add a bit of warmth/growl if required. [/quote] What I want from the valve tone is enough dexterity to switch from a Entwistle/McVie tone when playing more upbeat numbers, to a warm,clear, punchy,rounded, harmonic tone when playing slower (soul/blues) numbers. I know dynamic and rounded are a bit of a contradiction to each other, but in my head a lot of the tones i enjoy listening to are just that. I suppose that's where a good compressor comes into play aswell. I predominantly play a mush up of 60's & 70's pop rock/country/blues/soul/folk pop style genres. However, I also like to play minimalist/shoegaze styles aswell.

Never tried a Sansamp, but heard great things. May have to see if my local (rip off) music shop will appreciate me arriving with bass, amp and cab just to try out a pedal... Though I could bite the bullet as I gather it'll hold it's sale/trade value well! Would it be worth getting a Behringer pedal, If their compressor pedal is anything to go by...

Hi all! I'm currently playing a Markbass SA450, but seeking the presence/sparkle of some 'valvey' tone. I'm not in a financial situation to buy a valve amp, so focusing on the more budget means of achieving some tone. I've heard good things about the Streamliner for achieving a 'valvey' tone, but unlike the Bass Terror, is not a 1 trick pony. Do I try to swap my SA450 for a Streamliner, or due to the clean/natural ability of the SA450, would a valve orientated pedal achieve similair results? I feel quite loathed to pass on the SA450 as I think it's a vastly under acknowledged amp which will probably be quite sought after in 10+ years, but know i'm not quite getting what I want out of it. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated

If he's a guitarist by trade, it may be worth suggesting him trying a VM Jaguar short scale! The necks are obviously shorter, thus feeling more like a guitar. plus, the necks are very slim, again making it feel like a guitar. They are decent bass's, with decent tonal range.
