1. f***, it just pipped my bid by about £35. Had a lecture so missed the last 45 minutes. Shame really.
2. Most people seem to rave on about the quality of construction for the price. And apparently Jon's a top chap to deal with.
3.
NO! it doesnt work like that you can either use a 4 ohm single cabinet or 2 x 8 ohm cabinets which if wired in parallel will give you 4 ohm.DONT use one 8 ohm as youll damage the amp.
Que? Min load is 4 ohms. A single 8 ohm would be perfectly fine and safe, you just wouldn't get all the power. 2x 8hm = 4ohm load. You could also use 2x16 ohms, which'll give you 8 ohms, but again, it won't give you all the power. 2x 4 ohms on the other hand would kill it ( = 2 ohm load) Edit: Impedence works in the opposite direction to the figures so to speak, lower numbers = less resistance -> more power. The SVT P3 can run at 4ohms and put out 450w, or 275 at 8ohms. The amp cannot handle the power output with a 2 ohm impendance, therefore will go bang. (yes, simplifed it, but still correct). LOOK AT THE STICKIES AT THE TOP OF THIS FORUM!

PC v Mac
Blimey I did start a storm didn't I I wasn't talking about hardware or software issues, but my moan seems to have blown into the usual polar opposite arguments between afficianados of PC's & Macs. The point of the original post was that the PC (indeed all PC's I have ever been inside to work on) have been a mess of cables and a right fiddle to work on, as compared to the inside of the Mac, which is a place of calm and on the face of it a breeze to get at & work on, hence the comparative pictures. That's all! It came after a sweaty, sweary 1/2 day trying to fit a new hard drive in the PC to dedicate to recording.
It took you half a day do fit a HDD? What were you doing? Machining out a cradle?
5. You're taking the piss right? How on earth in living in Leam for the last 20 years, and only running down here to Pompy 3 weeks ago did I miss this company? I thought Regent was the only one in Leam (barring that new one on the same road that opened earlier this year) Got a store front by anychance or are you purely mail only?
6. I LOVE YOU It's where I am, shall be bidding. How much is the going rate for these by the way? I need to know a ballpark figure asap please

PC v Mac

PC != Windows Just a shame you pretty much need it if you're in education or business these days. Linux distros are much much better OS's than XP or Vista (which is a pile of crock). Apple only need to build their OS's and infact design everything for a very small limited amount of configurations, PC has thousands of different hardware configs which an OS has to cater for, it's just a shame that Windows based ones are currently flawed right at the core of the OS, MS just keep patching over the problems rather than rebuilding and fixing. I have used Mac's, can't say I was that impressed. Yes it was simple enough to use, but some of the filing systems did not make much sense at a glance nor where everything is in relation to the OS on the disk. Also, Apple : Much more evil than MS. MS is just run by very good business men now, which is what Bill Gates was. If it was to improve the OS dramatically, it would need a management change in the company division for Windows. MS Games studio pretty much crack out really good games most of the time.
8. Probably a dry joint or broken connection on one of the jack sockets if taking it out and jiggling it gave it a brief gasp of life.
9. Give a holler to OBBM on this forum, he'll wack you up a professional cable (top quality lead and jacks) for cheaper than all retailers, makes them however you want in reference to jacks and lengths. Edit: Link to the Special Offers section for more details: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=502
10.
Thanks guys. Just been to the BC and as i thought. Nothing. Not even a MIM. wasnt expecting to see ant MIJ's but i thought at least one Fender would be on show. Funny experiecne because ther guy in there was helpfull and happy. totaly caught me off gaurd. Im still inclinded to go with the White 70's MIJ Guitar Emp. has. Alder body, USA pup and about the same cost as the HW1. I emialed them yesterday and have not recieved a reply. Thats puts me off a bit as i was asking about purchasing one.
GE take a couple of days for email I found, nothing to worry about as it's also the weekend. Could always ring them. And keep an eye on http://www.fareastguitars.co.uk/usedbasses.htm as he'll often have good stock on there (when he's got stock)
11. Aye, I concur with most of the above. Do it, and you've done your part. Audiences don't notice bass anyway (j/k) so you'll be fine, just hobble along as best you can. Worst to worst, just play roots and 5ths It'll reflect badly on him in his band as he's f***ed up.
12. On the mention of Brum shops, apparently Sound Control stock Ashdowns' Lodestone basses, someone please go have a wander in and report back for the good of the community.
13. Sod the fluffy strap, just go charity shop hunting and get yourself a pink feather boa. Fashionable AND rocknroll (bucking trends and all that)
14. £189 at the time of this post. Normally working 150's go for about 250-300 or so I've seen. This is quite silly for a non working 50. Then again, it's not a bass version, so I suppose if guitarists think it's going to be an easy fix...well, could be worth it.

"Stealth" P bass

That looks really good actually, what's the sound like with the status neck and wizard compared to a "normal" P? And as for the pocket being too large, could you not do a sideways shim with a bit o'card / wood ?
16. Yeah, but you bought your current red one for half price, if you sell it, you're gonna have to spend a bit of cash anyway to get the black and chrome one. Might as well not bother and start saving for a better instrument further down the line.
17. I tried one today at a local shop whacked on a standard MIM p-bass. Can't say I was impressed, granted, the bass WAS on the stand, but you seemed to have to fiddle to find the optimum point and even so, it was really slow in deciding if the open E even existed, let alone was in tune. Bought a cheap Korg plug in one instead.
18. Brummies?!! It's at the NEC? Why did no-one tell me of this last year?!! I can't afford two trips in November back up to my home area and the NEC arena from pompy this year! I'll have to wait a couple of years as I'll probably be in the same position next year.

umm Bongo?

While I cannot help you, I shall put something into your mind that you'll remember every time you look at it: Looks like a toilet seat doesn't it?
20. According to the squire website, they're identical spec wise barring the chrome pickguard and "black pup covers". Save your money and buy a better quality p-bass, ala a P-bass Aerodyne special? Perhaps shop around for a good 2nd hand MIA or MIJ one? The squires can be good value for money, but even so, there's still something about the more expensive instruments. Edit: Pop to the for sale section brings up: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4059
21. Looks nice, and by the specs, simple but effective.
22. Bringing up an older thread because it's relevent. After oooing and ahhing over trying flats again now I'm more experienced, stuck some on my VMJ tonight, and WOAH, they sound really nice. I liked the sound (but hated the feel) of the Roto Nickels I had on there, and these Roto Jazz's sound and feel so much better on this bass, even through my Peavy Microbass at low volume, much thump and bass. Tone control seems to work much better as well, which is a plus as I always pretty much ran with it only turned a little bit when it's strung with rounds. Nice dead thump or just that little bit of top, s' nice.
23.
Turn off Noscript, it's going to cause more problems. I think that's what Buzz meant.
Yes, Whoops, I forgot to continue with the answers and questions. It was: Have you got NoScript/Adblock installed, if Yes, make sure the sites you want to have access are allowed access.
24. Yeah, I'd also +1 for a 25/30w iron, I'm going to redo the pots on my Les Paul Project and "when I come to replace my stock fender pup's" on my Aerodyne, so I'll be going to my local maplins before hand if the archaic 30w in the garage is broken. I personally make sure my solder is fluxed, but I've got a large tin of flux sitting by as my Father has got tons of older solder (He's got solder that's about 8 mm thick iirc for some odd reason, I reckon he aquired it from a plumber)
