  1. Just read about this new chorus pedal. I had the V1 but found the chorus rate was too fast in all settings - this new one has internal switches to choose a new slower rate matched to the Juno 60 keyboard. I found the original pedal kept the bass frequencies intact (it's designed for keys and guitar) and the V2 has in internal gain switch to optimise it for higher level input. It's also pretty cheap, true bypass and runs on a battery. Hopefully there'll be a bass demo soon..
  2. See I really like my P with light flats, no relief and super low action! You get the gritty clank and chewy midrange - and that sort of ‘plasticky’ overtone when you dig a little harder. I can’t play anything with a high action, I feel like my hand is numb and can’t pull off trills or hammers at all. I think I’m mostly just lazy!
  3. Absolutely - actually I was about to post a thread asking for some good examples of fuzzy bass lines so the timing was bang on! What bass are you playing?
  4. The problem with this sort of thing, and drive/fuzz in particular, is that it depends so much on what you feed into the pedal. For example I love gritty thick fuzz on a 70s jazz bass but not on a Precision. I dug out my muff today to try and cop this sound but actually found it was too thick; instead I used my EWS Stormy Bass Drive cranked to maximum with a little bit of glitchy octave thrown into the mix and got pretty close. In particular this combo allows the sound of the instrument to come through the filth. You've got me listening to the whole album now, it's great!! Edit - just tried again and found a combination of both the green Russian and the EWS gets the sludgy feel slightly better (this is using a Celinder J-update bass with the tone open)
  5. Sounds like a Russian Big Muff - mind you they all sound a little different but mine sounds a lot like this. Quite bright and crunchy but retaining the character and ‘finger noise’ of the instrument.

    Eh up

    Welcome back! I remember you
  7. I’m not hearing a P bass - I think it’s a stingray with flats.
  8. What’s the difference between the ‘E’ series and the others? I’d definitely like a black and maple one to match my SB1
  9. No, instrument - I wouldn’t bother with super high end speaker cables myself. Any benefit is likely to be robbed by the less than perfect room but in the studio, who knows (though I always go direct)
  10. I was given some vovox cables a while ago and I can definitely tell the difference. I only use them at home where the difference is audible and definitely can’t hear the difference in the mix. They feel nice though!
  11. Bought a pedal which arrived very quickly and in perfect condition. Thanks!!
  12. Have you searched your email? Default behaviour in 2009 I think would have sent you a notification email and a copy of the PM unless you turned it off..

That’s exactly what was on watchdog a while back. There was a special auction house where thousands of items, mostly with address labels still intact, were sent as ‘undeliverable’ and auctioned. I’ll see if I can find it…
  14. The brightest flats are EB Cobalt flats. I couldn't say what the tension is like when downtuned or in the heavier sets but the lightest set feel great on my Stingray. When new, they sound nearly as bright as rounds, but they settle down a little and don't seem to ever go as dead as traditional flats.
  15. You're trying to convince a. community of bass players that all luthiers are crooks. I know for sure some of us have had bad experiences here and there, but if they were all crooks then none of us would play bass. The function of this forum is to share delight in our craft, and you'll see some 'luthiers' get a deservedly good reputation because they're actually rather good. You've just been unlucky, and now we're all psychopaths.
  16. So just don't buy any instruments then if you don't trust people who make them. Take up the keyboard.
  17. It’s ok to put down every luthier in the world though eh So what will you do with the Ibanez? Send it back? Or find a ‘luthier’? Because any mass produced bass is likely to need fettling and adjusting after it leaves the factory. That’s why handmade normally costs more. Some ‘luthiers’ know what they’re doing. Some are useless. It’s the same in any industry.
  18. Thanks, that's an interesting take on the 'problem'
  19. That's the one!! Looks great - anyone tried one? Is the Joyo any good?
  20. I found the GUITTO GPB-01 Pedalboard which looks great - and the right size/shape. It wasn’t that which I saw originally though so any other types appreciated
  21. Hi folks I’m thinking about making a pedalboard now that I have a regular band practice. I remember seeing a pedalboard that used blocks to hold the pedals rather than Velcro which I think looks great - can anyone remember who made it? I think the board had a power distributor built into it too. Cheers ped
