1. Well, as far as I can see, as a 20 credit course, it's going to cost about £400. I'm sure I can get funding for that on my own.
2. I love deadlines. I like the whistling noise they make as they go past.
3. I'm just messing around. I'm intrigued by the Novak fret hint you dropped there (as I always think they're cool but scarey-looking) and I hope you'll keep this thread updated with progress.
4. Oh, bass bass bass, that's all you people ever talk about.
5. Is it going to be a bookcase?
6. I'm thinking of applying for a part-time place on this foundation music course, perhaps with the eventual aim of going for a BMus or a BA afterwards. Click Partly I'm looking to improve my playing and musical comprehension, and partly I'm just bored and I like to study for the hell of it. I wonder if anyone here has been through something similar and could give me some idea of the initial standard that's going to be expected, and the likely benefit of such a course? I have plenty of part-time academic experience - I have a Masters Degree - but none in this sort of area of study. I know I should just contact the course director, but I want to get a feel for it before I even commit that far. Thanks, Stuart.
7. What happens at these then? Do people just bring along cool stuff for other people to try in a non-judgmental way? Or is it a testosterone-filled w***-fest for people to look down on your gear and your talent? If it's the latter, count me in.
8. 'tis pretty. Doesn't Rob Trujillo use these?
9. TBH I do sometimes look for the fretboard markers if I'm practising while sitting hunched over with the bass on my lap. In that position the side markers are not easily visible. On the Thumb though, it's just tough sh*t!
10.
i've had basses before that only had side markers - no problems with it all - although it can confuse guitarists when they're trying to figure out something you're playing by watching your left hand!!
My guitarist gets confused by my B string, every time. Dipstick. I've just moved onto a bass that only has side markers for the first time and it's made no difference at all.
11. Just generally not pushing myself like I used to. Sitting down to practise and playing the same old stuff, occasionally looking at something complicated, trying it a few times and then giving up much too easily.
12. When you all say 'dig in', are you talking right hand or left?
13. Bwaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha
14. I'm planning to go, just for a look around and maybe to catch Sheehan. I'm also wondering if it's worth paying the extra to see Satriani, on the off chance that Stu Hamm will be playing with him.
15.
This thread has been far more interesting, entertaining and - frankly - meaningful than any number of posts titled Your favourite bass or Bands you used to like or Who's the best one-legged gay Welsh bass-player or whatever.
+1 to that, although as the original poster I am slightly embarrassed that it's gone on this long. At least everyone's being reasonable, despite the diametrically opposing views on display.

Ive got my 9

I wanted to hear some clips. I was expecting to hear clips. Then I was just left hanging at the end. This sort of thing makes me feel sad in my tummy.
17. Well done, sausages and beer sounds excellent.
18. That's lovely. My first ever bass was one of these, but obviously a much older model (new in 1987 maybe) as it wasn't active. One of the kids is using it to learn on now. Have an unfeasibly early bump on me.
19.
Ohh why do I have to have too much money
If that's a problem, I could take some off your hands to help you out?

Why did this thread die? I just read it all and really enjoyed it. * BUMP *
21. What's the ramp for?
22. I just got a Warwick 5 string NT for your exact budget. It's a fantastic bass, great sound, easy to play, lovely neck, really solid, chunky feel to the whole bass. The only bugbear I have with it is that it's quite heavy and it neck dives really badly.
