2. I'm certainly interested in the Multidrive but I know I am not first in the queue. If it falls through then I will have it.
 3.
Really cool stuff. Would love to hear it with the Orchestra idea as well. Kinda like what Mike Patton is currently doing with Mondo Cane. Nice vocal work as well!
Kind words are always appreciated so thank you. I'll be sure to pass on the compliments to the vocalist's. Thanks again.
 4. I am currently working with an act by the name of Buswell. The band started off as a folk esque band but in recent months have crossed over to a slightly more post rock feel yet still with the fundenmental folky sound (think Sigur Ros meets Bon Ivor) We are currently making plans for a series of gigs involving a 25 - 30 piece orchestra! Its going to be alot of work for all those involved but highly rewarding once we manage to pull it off. All relevant info can be found here - Buswell The songs are demos and current works in progress but all feedback would be appreciated.
 5. What shops are likely to stock alot of Warwicks. I am thinking about adding a second to my collection but really want to spend as much time as I can playing as many models as possible. I am based in the West country so closer to me is better but all options will be considered. Thanks a bunch.
 6. Hi guys I just thought I'd bring it to your attention that my band Moneyrunner are supporting the awesome James Taylor Quartet on Saturday 3rd April. It promises to be a jazz-funktastic night for all so why not come along if you are local? All relevant info can be found at this web address. Come and support some great local talent as well as an awesome national act. Regards.
 7.
At the top of my list of instruments I'd quite like, just below an NS WAV4, is this The Michale Kelly Club Custom 5 string. Now, for me the low B on any 5-string bass is useless. My mind just doesnt work that way - I tend to play in higher registers. What I would really like is to be able to tune EADGC, like on my 5-string electric (my 6 that I had was E-F). But I can't see how I could go about it. I can't find strings for acoustic bass that have a high C, and I imagine that the intonation would be way out without making a new bridge. Anyone here have or have experience with acoustic basses with a high C? 5 or 6 string. I'd love to at least know where to get strings from as a starting point. Cheers Karl
Flats are always an option. Thomastik do really good flats with the option of a high C gauge. Certainly worth a go.
 8. Check out the High C thread here.
 9.
That's what I'm planning to do
What are they likely to go for? I have just bought a second hand German made Corvette off a fellow Basschat member and I am going to feel rotten if I got it for a steal.
 10. I was just on the Warwick website and it says that the Corvette Standards are currently made in Korea, has this always been the case? If not, when did they start originating from this part of the world. Thanks in advance.
 11.
Slightly odd comment, but If I was to purchase this and it wasnt 'right' for me in terms of playing (its won me over on looks) then are Sandbergs held in quite high regard with resales?
This will be my second Sandberg sale so I wouldnt think you'll be burnt should the desire to move on it arise. The Sandbergs P's and J's pop up quite often and always seem to go quite quickly and for good money too so I would assume there is quite a healthy market for them at them moment. I was in Guitar Works in Reading the other week and the guy was telling me that all the new prices had gone up quite a bit for some reason or another so I reckon second hand sales are likely to benefit from that. Thats just my opinion though. Hope that helps.#
 12.
Just to clarify, the Haussel pickups are alnico ... here's what they said at Sandberg when I emailed them in December: "hi nik, the pickup is from a small workshop here in germany called „häussel pickups. it’s a real single coil with alnico5 magnetics. Best regards – holger stonjek" I tend to prefer a more 'vintage' tone and IMO, these pick ups are definitely biased more that way, though the pre-amp may also have a bearing on that too.. Hope that helps.
Nik, what would I do without you!
Darn it again U...........another lovely bit of kit. Great guy, great gear, someone pleeeeeease buy this now... (got the mini's back btw....they shall now stay put!) john
Glad you managed to reacquire the cabs John, are you sure I cant interest you in a delightfull 5 string?
 13.
Does anyone have soundclips of what a jj with these pickups sound like?! The new JJs come with Delanos...but you can order these Haussel pickups still as extra. I'm just wondering if the haussels are more vintage compared to the delanos which I've heard are quite hi fi and modern. Are these haussels alnico pups?
I'm not quite sure how to answe rthat really but I will try my best. Compared to my old PM4 that was loaded with the Delano's this bass is not as 'hi-fi' as that. I know that the pickup config's are different but this JJ5 certainly has a slightly more vintage sound to it, particularly when in passive mode. I am pretty sure that this bass has alnico pickups. Hopefully that can help.
 14. I used to play 4's exclusively before seeing the light and shifting to a 5 string (high c of course) Now everytime I play a 4 string I find it too small and my hand cramps up really easy. Different strokes.... and all that, yet to play anything more than a 6'er though I would love to.
 15.
And the inevitable question... What is the string spacing please
Hey Monz, thanks for the interest. String spacing at the nut is 35mm (measurement taken from the centre of the strings, is that correct?) Meanwhile, spacing at the bridge is 74mm. I should also mention that that is customisable thanks to this bass having the best bridge I have ever used. String hieght, spacing and intonation can all be adjusted then locked in place via a small bolt (I think they are called 'grub' screws but please dont quote me on that) situated on each saddle unit. The whole design works brillaintly and has a really substantial feel about it. All I know is that at 38mm, my Warwick Corvette is a bit more of a handfull than the Sandberg, it is quite effortless to play in this regard. Hope that all helps.
 16. I've had one or two slightly interested parties but nothing serious yet. Please someone buy it off me, I need to eat.
 17.
Oh heck....thats a nice bass.
You're not wrong. You sir, have a PM and for everyone else, this bass comes in at 10lbs on the button. I should also point out, as mentioned above that the passive tone on this bass is also great. Whilst in passive mode the tone pot comes alive and provides you with all you need to get pretty much any Jazz sound you can think of. I agree with the 'tone monster' tag too, usually basses that do varied tones tend not to master a specific sound but this bass can honestly be described as 'jack of all trades and master of them too!!
 18. After much thought, it has come to that very sad day when I have realised that in order to eat I need to unlock some money in my gear collection. With a very heavy heart, I have decided to move on my much loved Sandberg JJ5. This bass is superb, simple as that. I currently own and have owned a number of Sandbergs over the last few years and this one really is the top of the pile. The build quality and sound quality easily out preform all but the really high end basses. After doing a bit of research, Henrik from Sandberg has kindly informed me of the details of this bass. The bass was a custom shop order from 2007 and features a 35" scale, Haeussel Pickups and a beautifully distressed finish that pre dates their hardcore aged option. The body is Alder and the neck is Canadian Hardrock Mapel topped off with a lushous Rosewood fingerboard. This bass really is stunning, both to look at and to play. Thanks to the Haeussel pickups and 9v active bass/treble premamp, this bass has almost limitless tonal variations, everything from old school 60's boom to tight, focused modern bass snap. Whether you choose fingers, pick or slap, this bass to deliver just what you want. The sale comes complete with pristine official Sandberg gig bag and all relevant goodies. It breaks my heart to see it go but needs, must. I have attached some photo's courtesy of the previous owner (silverfoxnik) thanks again Nik and I am looking for what I spent on it, £700 + p&p. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask. Someone will probably ask its weight, I will find that out just as soon as I can acquire suitable weighing scales. Unfortunatley, not interested in trades as it is cold hard money that is needed to feed and shelter me. Regards. Thanks for looking.
 19. After recently acquiring a DB112 off of Higgie I have decided to try and keep it as pristine as possible therefore investing in a custom flightcase. I got alot of gigs coming up and feel this is the only way to keep it looking good. As a result, I will be selling the official Aguilar cover in order to (partly) fund my new purchase. It is in great condition, looks like its hardly been used and it really is a must have if you own one of these cabs but cant stretch to flightcase. I believe that these covers are £70 from Bassmerchant so offering it £40. This is what it looks like if you didn't already know. Thanks.
 20. I bought an Aguilar DB112 the other day and today it arrived it superb condition. Great communication with James throughout the whole sale, a pleasure to do bass related business with. Again, great packing and a top chap to do business with.
 21. Just finished selling a Matamp cab to Stu and I must saw the whole process was a charm. Fast paymnet and super communication throughout the whole process. Pleasure to do business.
 22.
I had a six string bass tuned EADGCF for a while - the high F is incredible, with a 24 fret bass guitar the highest note is not that much lower than the highest note on a Fender Strat. Giggles all round when you use it on a solo and see the guitarist shaking their head in disbelief :-) I bought the high F as part of a set from Overwater. Jennifer
Wow, first hand experience. Thanks a bunch Jennifer. Now all I need to do is keep my eyes open for a six string that I actually like the look of.

 24.
I use a guitar string to get to the E below that- I think it would handle the extra semitone.
Hmmmm, interesting.
