    I got this from Doctorbass about 4 or 5 months ago and it's in very good condition. I recently added a custom padded cover at a cost of £50-odd. Reason for selling is I am re-assessing what my rig needs to be, especially in light of my new DB gig. Just got a MB combo and as I have a Sansamp BDDI I can do the dirt /rock sound with this ( will probably add a stacking extension cab in case of bigger gigs). So the Vintage probably is going to get used once in a blue moon only. If you buy this together with my TC 112 cab ( FS at £275) - which would give you Little and Large options to go with your head - I will give you a good deal. £725 for both, can't say fairer than that for two cabs in superb condition that would cost you £1029 new Pickup only from west London (nr Hammersmith) as it's large, even though it's weirdly light!     Bilbo mentioned having one of these in a thread but I reckon most clip on tuners wouldn't have a wide enough clamp part to hold on to a DB headstock. Anyone have a recommendation here for a particular model that fits a DB? Many thanks as ever, Clarky

Not gigged it yet but in the home situation it sounds very good.

    Just bought Fran's 51P reissue. Absolutely immaculate condition and he went to the trouble of setting up properly before he handed it over (as we swapped bridges). Recommended BC'er!

    Just put the Presto strings on my Aria EUB. What a difference. From being (in my hands at least - not those of the manly Beedster ) virtually unplayable with transatlantic cables, its now very slick and easy. Sounds good through the MB combo too and a pretty good approximation of a DB. Now considering whether I should swap over the Thomastiks on my DB to these or similar gut-alikes (Silver Slaps/Honeys) ....

    I used to (10 years ago) have jazz DB lessons from an old jazzer. I couldn't get the theory, which is why I gave up. But I had the most joy simply playing along to CDs. Chet Baker stuff ( especially the era when he was doing vocals as well as trumpet) is generally very slow paced and melodic and I found that a really good starting point. Also early big band Jazz like Duke Ellington (eg Take the A train) which will often have blues based structures and so will be familiar to you, TNIT.

    Steve Miller band was poor. Even when they played his old hit Abracadabra it sounded like a cover version. Plus who was playing the bass? Noone visible so either the bassist was off stage or they were playing to a recording ( which thought wasn't allowed)

    Currently D'Addario Chromes on my P bass, Alembic s/ s rounds on my, er, Alembic (really nice strings, very smooth) and EB Slinkies on my Wal. Horses for courses but the Alembics are my current favourites

    Rush and Renaissance both start with the letter 'R' and contain the letter 's'. The similarities are becoming spooky. Whereas Level 42 contains neither. Proof if ever it was needed

    Can I say that, in addition to seeing Level 42 in 1983 at Oxford Poly, I also saw Renaissance ('the Northern Lights') a few years before that There aren't enough Renaissance threads In fact this may be the first mention of Renaissance ever on BassChat. Fancy that?

    If I were a more technical bass player, I would say 80s Metallica. But I'm not, in which case I will say Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds after Barry Adamson left them.

    Would also trade against a MarkBass NYC121 (so I can have a modular MB rig*) wiith cash your way PS, looks like this [attachment=60906:TC_RS112.jpg] * this is the only MB cab that exactly stacks under the CMD121P combo, hence I am not after other MB cabs
