  1. Canteloupe Island and Maiden Voyage, both Blue Note
  2. Did you sort a piezo for the Parker Fly, WH?
  3. Actually its the highlights of the Plugged Nickel - but the Blanton-Webster album will cost you best part of £25 if you can track one down (I found it in a jazz specialist retailer near Covent Garden) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blanton-Webster-Band-Duke-Ellington/dp/B000003EO4
  4. To get you in the mood http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsQYzpOHpik
  5. Looks really good Jack and the front/home page is very tidy now Good effort chaps
  6. Clearing out the house and downsizing my mountain of CDs. Here's a collection of jazz CDs I haven't played in a decade which would have cost well over £500 to put together. Too many to list individually but there's a huge variety here including - Duke Ellington (including the revered Blanton-Webster band double CD) - Miles Davis (including the famous Live at Plugged Nickel) - Charlie Parker - Sonny Rollins (including Saxophone Collossus) - Dave Brubeck - Oscar Pettiford - Stan Getz - Paul Chambers - Django Reinhardt - Bireli Lagrene - Christian McBride - Marcus Miller - Jaco Pastorius - Herbie Hancock Everything from swing to bebop to gypsy to modern. I am only holding on to my CDs of Bill Evans, plus certain CDs from Miles Davis, Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. And of course Van Morrison's Moondance How about £75 plus post (which might be about a tenner given the weight)? PS, bear in mind they haven't been played in years, they are a bit on the dusty side
  7. Blue-tack does the job for me. My new line of modular basses is nearly ready, with removable wings, headstock and the bits that go round. Only wobbles at high volume
  8. I will bundle this with my vgc EA Wizzy 12 cab (with custom cover) for an ultra-bargain £650 collected (from London), no post due to cab sorry
  9. Just A/B'd my cabs and the Wizzy and the Acme are just too close in volume and tone to justify owning both. Hence this is back up FS at a bargain £200 collected from London PS, will bundle with the Aguilar Tonehammer TH500 head for £650
  10. Just beautiful. Hope this is going because you don't need it, not cos you have to sell
  11. The rules say " Children and spouses must not be offered for sale on the forum, even if to help fund Fender Roscoe Beck or other bass guitars"
  12. I find that you have to play fractionally behind the side dots to intonate on fretless - presumably as your finger tip is rounded and the pressure point is not the point that determines the note but the fleshy bit on the bridge side
  13. Final bump before I decide to hang on to this. Will still do it at the lower price on offer for past two days, ie £475 posted in UK.
  14. I had that album in the 1980s, it was actually released under The Warriors name as Behind the Mask. So this must be a re-release. Haven't heard it in a grillion years but I loved it at the time, still funky but a bit more jazz-rocky than Incognito. http://if-its-soulful.blogspot.com/2011/09/warriors-behind-mask-1982.html
  15. kidding! I think they are a bit 'wrong' looking - I can't see Fenders in flashy top woods
  16. Victor Bailey signature, looks like http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-victor-bailey-jazz-bass/2274
  17. Listening to 'best of' Jacques Tati soundtracks. My fave, the theme from Mr Hulot's holidays, just wonderfully evocative: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-lWi8Q3giM
  18. Hi Chris, hope all is well with you and yours! The way it's going I may just keep it for the day when I am back in a band gigging electric bass, rather than just DB as currently
  19. No takers at £475? Price and trade value back up to £490 tomoz
  20. On a tangent but seeing the 'Mick Karn fretless' comment reminded me that the Bass Gallery have a fretless Wal just arrived, advertised as a 'Percy Jones fretless' even though it appears Percy has nothing to do with it, other than having owned a couple of basses made by the same manufacturer!
  21. Final day of offer at £475 posted
  22. Unfortunately, the one thing that the autobiography singularly lacks is any explanation as to how this situation regarding the songwriting/publishing rights arose. I can't think how the rest of the band didn't either know or have any say and there's no explanation at all. Maybe lawyers blocked certain bits being published?
  23. As Mick pointed out in his book, how could 100% of the rights on hit single 'Ghosts' go to Sylvian when so much of its appeal was generated by the eerie keyboard sounds generated by Richard Barbiero, yet the latter made not a penny from it. Likewise, all those bass lines Mick played that led (and indeed defined) so many Japan songs yielded nada personally for him financially. Very sad to read
  24. Its only available via a private publisher called Lulu. Ships from US but arrived within 3 days
