1. Fantastic! My first gig on DB was a total blast too, will never forget it
2. Try asking bassbod and pantherairsoft http://basschat.co.uk/topic/153834-sold-mo-clifton-downright-4/page__p__1367958__hl__clifton%20downright__fromsearch__1#entry1367958
3.
Interesting. Can't think why it should be different though.
Its part cos I'm still a bit rubbish on DB and part cos I'm used to 'on the fly' fingering! But seriously, what fingering do you use for playing say G sharp, A, F, E sharp on the G/D strings - is that all sliding your first/fore finger up and down the board or does your second/middle finger come into play at any point - its the semi-tone shifts I am not sure about
4. FYI, I will be away on biz in freezing Scandinavia this week so - although I'll be checking in on BC from time to time - I will not be able to post this amp until next Saturday at the earliest
5. Phwoar! You were right, Kevin, about it being a looker ... hope my incomer looks as good in the flesh
6. After a brief try out, I find Rabbath very simple for linear (ie, up or down) lines but if you are string crossing back and forth I end up in a right pickle, as my old Grandad would say
7. Sale has fallen through as the BCer concerned ran into unexpected bills. However, I have had a re-think and I am going to withdraw this from sale anyway as its such a good cab and will come in useful at certain gigs
8. Buy an Aria Sinsonido travel bass and headphones - about £340, tiny space taken up, and you can feed your habit http://www.reidys.co...PriceComparison Edit: probably useful for when you are on your ship too
9. My re-finned 1963 (year of birth) Precision. Was sourced from US by BC'er Si Clifton and had been I think stripped (like so many) to natural. Si arranged for it to be nitro coated in an aged oly white. Has a lovely worn-in neck with no varnish at all left on the back. This pic shows it with the badly cracked and warped tort guard which I have replaced with a period-correct nitrocellulose tort guard (I have kept the original of course but its unusable).
10. Bump with amended trade options in post above ^^^
11. I never saw that beautiful "2011" Fender Custom Shop Precision Pro (a P/J with Jazz neck) on sale anywhere. The latest Fender CS catalogue for 2012 http://fendercustomshop.com/# shows this model in Olympic White (the 2011 was in sunburst) but who knows if you'll ever see one in the shops, given the seeming non-appearance of the 2011 version?
12. Here's Cliff with his (modified with a humbucker at the neck)
13. Looks great in that colour - very Cliff Burton
14. Does he not realise that he has already stymied most potential buyers of his bass? Dork
15. Awful - where's the energy and raw power of the original? Elevator music
16.
Is it similar to this one: http://www.thomann.d...ass_piezo_g.htm ? Mark
Good spot, they come in black and chrome too. Only problem is the housing is a different shape to that used by Parker so it wouldn't match, unless you could transplant the piezo 'saddle'
17. I would be interested in the answer as I have toyed with buying an Ibanez Affirma and the piezo bridge, as I understand it, is often a bit rubbish. So if the piezo units could be replaced with modern equivalents it could sort the problem. Sorry if its a bit OT!
18. Alan Cringean at ACG basses uses a lot of piezo pickups in his basses - maybe he could help out here?
19. PS, would entertain a trade with a MarkBass F1/F500 or p/x for Mini CMD121P combo (in very good condition) as I could use this as a backup for my DB (the TH500 doesn't really work with DB). In the case of the combo, there would be money your way (£50)
20. Nice WoT and incredible condition
21. Sold pending
22. Cheers Gareth - and a Saturday bump from me
23. Bump for a lovely cab at a steal of a price
24. I play them in a jazz way, mixing 7th, 9th and 23rd notes in PS, one opportunity I was glad to have missed: there is a dwarf who is a regular member of the London 'alternative' metal and punk scene and - after a gig with my old death metal band back in 2006 - he approached me and asked if I wanted to join his putative band, "C*ntslurp". I had to decline
25. I once bought Noel Gallagher a pint just after the first bass player (Guigsy I think) left and foolishly didn't offer my services. I would have been bloody good at 16th root notes by now ...
