1. Crikey that reads really badly. Have to say the Nash 63J's I owned both played and sounded very nice. My only gripes were a cheap-ish tort-substitute s/p and the fact the 'clay dots' were shiny white plastic rather than aged
2. Would have LOVED to have been there but the Missus wasn't keen When I saw Wobble play 'Visions of you' on TV with Sinead O'C ten or more years ago he was playing an Ovation Magnum
3. Can't make it due to family responsibilities but hope you have a spiffing time .. and yes, pics please
4. So, they are forecasting the weather won't be so fabulous tomorrow. In which case, the Apple Tree pub in Clerkenwell seems like a good place to go to late afternoon ... and you can then take in the harmonies of All The Queens Ravens at 6pm
5. From memory it was roughly 3 weeks until I got refunded the £700-odd for my faulty amp ... and that was after multiple cross, nagging emails without which I suspect it would have taken even longer
6. He's in Romania but its part of the EU
7. Withdrawing from sale on BC
8. Try me with an offer. I have my eye on something else and want to raise some moolah towards it!
9. Nah, its got a scratch on the back. Junk
10. Gwaan, you know you've got zip-all to do next Sunday at 6pm :-)
11. Ouch. Sorry to hear that Jon. I recently had a problem with a faulty amp from Thomann (as discussed on another thread) and the heartache and hassle to get it sent back and refunded have completely put me off going this route again. TBH, I didn't check the exact refund amount so i may have made a currency gain or loss but the item was quite a bit cheaper than your Precision so it wouldn't have been big - but the principle is the same.
12. and of course it was pulled within hours
13. Excellent set by our Nige and Kit and rest of band tonight. I took some photos on his Blackberry but a combination of his chrome bling Warwick bass and a badly angled spotlight meant most came out like light explosions! Hopefully Nige can use a few and maybe post here? Nige of course was wearing the black leather flares, hat and black silk gloves. I feel very dowdy by comparison
14.
Expensive DB for recording, cheap DB for gigs and vids
My two DB's cost exactly the same ...
15. Didn't take long. eBay listing removed despite no headstock shots
16. Here's a young Spanish bassist who is clearly hugely influenced by Carles. Nice playing I think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oB8Ffzpv1U&feature=channel&list=UL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oHl1C054I8&feature=channel&list=UL
17. Hopefully I can get along but not certain yet, Nige, due to "family responsibilities"
18.
Gherson: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1e6e5c871c
That be mine! I've removed the word 'copy' in the title and replaced with 'homage' to increase my slim chances of this running to the end of the auction without it bing pulled. It is of course also available to BC'ers and I would frankly rather keep it within the forum
19. Now on eBay ... until our US friend spots it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130700576540#ht_500wt_1387
20. Weight on digital scales 9.1 pounds I don't like losing money on a bass (although it happens virtually every time) but I want to raise some dosh so how does £565 posted or £550 collected sound
21. I believe I played this while having a lesson from Paul and can confirm it is extremely high on the cool stakes!
22. Thanks gents, I feel better after your comments I will hopefully drop off bass at end of this week and get an as-good-as or even-better bass back
23. Near offers? Looks/sounds great with medium action and a good weight (c9 pounds I guess)
24. I did a video shoot for my band All the Queens Ravens yesterday and the 1880s German flatback I recent acquired got its first outing. We did the shoot in a vintage clothing shop (very Bohemian) which had huge but narrow metal security doors. All went well until I left the shop and accidentally smacked the bass (in its padded bag) against the edge of the metal door. Consequence is the lower front bout (near the endpin) now has two long cracks and an area that is lifting up (and buzzes when you play, so bass is unusable). So now I have two 2-hour round trips to Malcolm Healey's shop in Surrey in prospect plus the cost of repair. No purpose behind this post other than to let off steam. Aaaaarrrggghhhh! And on the bass' very first outing too ....
