1. Excellent post Nige, I've seen over half a dozen London based BC bands (including Nige's band Kit Richardson) and also Burrito Bass' (aka Tim's) excellent non-London band Case Hardin, plus Pete Academy's Nearly Dan and BRX' Dick Venom. Enjoyed all of them So ... shameless plug ... if anyone's stuck for summat to do on Thursday 14th they could always wander over to the Half Moon in Putney to hear some "gypsy Fleetwood Mac" => http://www.timeandleisure.co.uk/whats-on/previews/2338-preview-all-the-queens-ravens.html
2.
Moved my rehearsal especially for you Mr C.
You are a gent, Adam. So - following Nige/silddx's 'call to arms' - anyone else fancy coming along to hear some "gypsy Fleetwood Mac" (ahem)? - see here http://www.timeandleisure.co.uk/whats-on/previews/2338-preview-all-the-queens-ravens.html

What flats?

My favourites are Pyramid Gold (as used by Grateful Dead etc in the late 60s/early 70s). They feel worn-in from the moment you open the packet whereas I find TI Flats and others need time to sound and feel their best. 4. £20 sent. Bl**dy good VFM
5. In order I have progressed from a death/thrash metal band to a 70s style punk band to playing double bass in a voodoo swamp blues band and now a gypsy pop band. Not bad going on the variety front in 8 years!
6. For a long time I played Silver Slaps and really loved them. I switched to Spiro Weich (after experimenting with various other strings) but recently had a hankering for an earthier sound after listening to a lot of Scott LaFaro .... so I bought a nearly-new set of Silver Slaps on BC for £45. Well hind-sight is rose tinted and I quickly discovered I definitely prefer the Spiros on my old 3/4 bass. So I am selling the Silver Slaps on, less £5 for the small amount of additional silk fraying caused by fitting and removing again. So £40 posted for a good, but not pristine, set of Silver Slaps anyone?
7. Reminder-ette in case anyone in West/SW London wants an alternative to seeing Spurs being humiliated by Inter on the TV
8. I will be taking the bus this time PS, do you think with my barnet I could pretend to be Rick Parfitt and confuse the punters?
9.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice a slight hike in price
No we won't cos you forgot to put a price in the listing
10. Looks good for me to be there, esp as I think Status Quo are pants
11.
Which model have got Bilbo and is it any good for moondance?
It's a flatback so he could cellotape the tab to Moondance on the back of it
12.
Still on sale?
The clue is in the title that says * SOLD *
13. These are really lovely basses. Have another bump from me
14. Update: absolutely lovely the new album. Melodic, slow paced, with lots of music loops and very different from skuzzy blues rock of Grinderman. Best tracks: Jubilee Street (warning NSFW video) which is a real insistent grower of a track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCxHvNl9MmQ and the beautiful Mermaids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4CkPM0LJT4
15.
Awesome playing.
+1 What a barg for someone that doesn't care about a knock or two. Wish I could play like that!
16. Here's an idea, slip the man a few pints and borrow one from (Happy) Jack's Precision Emporium for a couple of weeks and see which you honestly prefer
17. Nige, this bass IS you, mate. A P bass is fab (I have two) but unless you are having an extended Scott Thunes moment I don't see you as a P man
18.
You'll be going for the Softer Ride along with our sound man TC.
Sounds like a dodgy euphemism
19. Just picked up a Catalinbread SFT pedal off Gareth. Seamless transaction! Many thanks mate
20.
I don't think this would have lasted a day on talkbass - unfortunately as a group we Basschatter's certainly are a "Dedicated follower of fashion"!
Absolutely, maybe I should have re-badged my Acme as "Bare-arsed"
21. That ain't no Bob Babbitt unless he changed ethnicity!
22. Two days after my lot headline there, Ad. Cool to see BC taking over the Half Moon! Will be there if I can
23. No longer available - trade agreed
24. Two ML112s for sale at BassDirect. So someone can get to try them and form a fair opinion using their own ears ... http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Baer_ML112.html
