1. Bump for a very decent BCer and a cracking cab - if I didn't suffer from the 'grass is always greener' syndrome (ie, GAS) I would still own John's fantastic-sounding old Wizzy 12, not the heavier Acme B2 2x10" cab I now own (and my back doesn't like me for owning!)
2. aha thanks. As far as I am aware mine is one-of-a-kind!
3. Exactly like that! Is that a photo taken by Sfx before posting to me or does my pedal in fact have a twin?
4. Full ad in new classified section but this is a custom order version of SFX' lovely tubey sounding warmth/overdrive pedal, the Micro Red Dragon, but with an added DI/XLR so it can be used straight to PA or studio like a Sansamp (but nicer sounding!) It cost me £220 and has not left my house - I am after £175 posted given its completely one-of-akind, very nice and essentially unused. No trades, its a fund-raiser. Sorry no sound clips but here's a vid with the related Ultra Red Dragon My pedal is smaller and less complicated than the one in the vid (three knobs, a stomp switch and a light!). Can send pictures if you PM me your email address
5. Roland Microcube - here's an ad for it (out of stock here but some retailer's bound to have one) http://www.andertons.co.uk/combo-amps/pid13888/cid691/roland-bass-microcube-rx-batterymains-powered-bass-ampfree-6m-lead.asp?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=pricecomp&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping
6. Noone can upload pics right now, as far as I am aware Nick (continuing fallout from recent hacking attack). You will need to upload pics to Flickr or such like and paste in the link - or send pics via email
7. Bump with reminder of trade options in past #4
8. Withdrawing due to lack of interest. Wrong time of year methinks
9.
Can't listen without buying, my friend. Is there a website or soundcloud page?
Just click on the player Bilbo - you don't have to buy BTW, James, sounds great! I like a bit of gypsy jazz
10. From a poster on TalkBass: "As for what his strings sound and play like, I was one of Dannys "Secret shopper testers". He passed the prototype sets out to a good few of us to try and give feedback. I still have the prototypes on my main Bass. A basic overview: Similar to Spirocore (no surprises there) with that growly low end but a much more even and warmer top end. An easier tension and not as metallic sounding out of the packet, much better with the Bow than Spirocores and better than Helicores when bowed too. Very even sound across all strings bowed or plucked. I've used Spirocores and Helicores on both my Basses for years but I'll be using these from now on." Just when I settle on Spirocore Weich as 'my strings' I read this - these sound great!!! Obviously I would like to see some more reviews before jumping in though
11. Didn't sell on eBay either
12. Thanks Dave, it does indeed work fine for DB, hence I've gigged with and rehearsed with it. Its simply that I have a DB-specific head and cab that have a very similar small footprint/light weight and one rig has to go!
13. If it helps Ash, Innovation describe Super Silvers as "Low tension" whereas SIlver Slaps are "EXTRA low tension" http://www.stringexpress.co.uk/dbass.htm
14. Thanks JPJ! I think it's a fabulous deal too. The combo is excellent for electric and upright bass and only falls down on the latter as it doesn't have the DB specific functionality of my Acoustic Image head (high pass and notch filters plus phase switch). Which could of course be compensated for by putting a DB pre in the signal chain (Plat Pro etc) if you so wished.
15. PS, would trade for a Genz Shuttle, GK MB500 or Aguilar TH500 for me 'leccy bass
16. anthomp is indeed a BCer and a very nice one at that too! He has a large collection of Antigua Fenders so I guess he's whittling this down
17. But you can beat an egg Ker-boom-tish
18. Glad they arrived uber-fast Mike and cheers for prompt payment!
19. I bought this a few months back to use as a transport-friendly DB combo. However I prefer the sound of my Acoustic Image head through a small cab (I now have a Crazy 8 cab from the US which is crystal clear and very small) and so this is surplus to requirements. Its the rarely seen oxblood red version and is in excellent, as-new condition (done a couple of coffee-shop type gigs, a few rehearsals but mainly home use). Looks like this: http://shoppingcart....pjb-100-red.jpg (I can't upload pics right now, like others have experienced with the ongoing site problems). I paid £550 and will let it go for £385 posted or £370 collected (London) - it really is in excellent condition so I think this is a fair price (30% off new) and you know from my feedback that I speaka-da-truth
20. Our last gig of the year is at the intimate (holds 65 only) Green Note in Camden, a venue thats very 'in' with the folk crowd and has seen loads of top performers (Amy Winehouse, Leonard Cohen, Martin Carthy and - of more recent vintage - the up-and-coming Tiff Merritt). We are headlining, probably on about 9.45pm. Will be a squeeze to fit us on a stage about the size of your average rug but we will manage it. The Green Note does great food and beer too. Should be fun! http://www.greennote...&task=view&id=4
21. If we only needed and wanted one bass, BassChat would have a membership about the tenth the size
22. Oh b*gger, Keith. I read the integrity of the endings was important to the strings so I think its bad news. Let me buy them back off you as I feel its my fault for not having measured them for your bass
23. Thanks Keith. I love your beer emoticon!
24. OK gents, here are the costs. Nerdy spreadsheet alert. Edit: OK it doesn't paste properly but there is a proper nerdy spreadsheet to calculate everything! So for most people (2 clamps plus 90p post) its £9.80, for Steve its £16.45 (post was more as I had to use a small box to ensure no damage to the locking socket), for Owen (only one clamp) its £5.35 and for fatback (higher post cost to Ireland) its £11.10. Happy with paypal as gift. Will PM you all the address. I managed to get to Post Office at lunch time today and posted to all except Duncan/BassBod (your PM arrived just after I'd left for post office but yours will be posted tomorrow) and jwbassman (waiting on address).
