1. Here's a vid of some dude playing Zyex strings. In case unfamiliar, these strings are highly favoured by bluegrass players (eg, Missy Raines and Barry Bales, Alison Kraus' bassist) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8ZG5Uu20dM
2. Got these today and A/B'd against Velvet Blues on my old boomy German flatback and they are just too dark and bass-y on my bass (it needs slightly brighter strings, especially when amplified). Cost me £138 http://www.soundunli...TJCsaAhD58P8HAQ and literally no more than one hour of use. £95 posted (yay, another big loss!) For reference these are (to my ears) extremely similar to Evah Pirazzi Weichs
3. Unless it's another lemon
4.
What's the etiquette here????? Does the person who guesses or recognises the previous list get to pick the next one or do people simply wade in with obscure choices on the hope that no one else knows their choice.
Apparently the former after my hideous faux pas
5. I'll play. Here is the tracklisting for my favourite album of the moment:

"Windfall"
"Live Free"
"Tear Stained Eye"
"Route"
"Ten Second News"
"Drown"
"Loose String"
"Out of the Picture"
"Catching On"
"Too Early"
"Mystifies Me"
6.
Are those ones made in Scotland? Fife to be exact.
Nope they've moved production back to Italy, to Del Monte
7. Beautiful. The early ones were (IMHO) more tastefully and carefully relic'd by the custom shop. Wish I had £2k spare
8. New endorsees:
9. In typically 'green' continental European style, its also fully biodegradable
10. Just traded basses with Gareth, getting back my old A/E fretless in return for a super nice JV Precision. Met up at Waterloo and had a brief natter and - as before - he is a very nice guy, super reliable and trustworthy.
11. I've had a noodle on this very bass and its one sexy beast. Bump from me!
12. The seller of the fretless has decided to take this bass in trade. Apologies Pierre
13. Thanks Pierre. I am waiting to hear back from the BCer selling his fretless to me as he may take it in trade. If I do decide to post you have first dibs but I would rather hand over in person so I'll keep you in touch. For the moment I would prefer a London meet-up but if that changes you will be first to know
14. Thanks Dave! I'll leave it a few days before thinking about posting - but if it comes to that I may well take you up on your kind offer mate
15. I got this a few months back from Rick's Fine 52. He thinks there may only be two in the country with the large Fender logo (they changed to Squier after about a year I believe). Its very mojo'd but a thing of beauty to my eyes (sorry about the slippers in the close-up picture!)
16. I bought this super little combo from Bassgear only a couple of months ago and have used it for two small 'coffee shop type' gigs and a practice, as well as home use. Its about as new looking as its possible to get. However, having got my mitts on an ultra-small Crazy8 cab to match with my Acoustic Image head (which has more DB functionality than the PJB) its now surplus to requirements. Comes in a very neat padded shoulder bag which is a joy to bring to gigs. I don't have the packaging so for now its collection/meet-up in London. Would cost you £475-ish new including delivery so I will offer for [s]£390[/s] £370. Given its pretty new, little-used and in amazing condition, thats good value I think Bassgear link here: http://www.bassgear....cub-bg-100-red/ No trades thanks. I am slimming down my gear
17. Thanks Cameltoe and Sean! I am going to give first dibs to the guy selling me the fretless as he has indicated he * might * do a straight swap. Will update as-and-when I hear more. Its far from certain though (as it depends on him also selling another bass) so please feel free to drop me a PM if interested
18. I bought this off the forum some six months ago and its as nice a Precision as I've ever played (with the possible exception of my old - and much more expensive - Pino model). Lightweight (under 9 pounds), very low action (with beautifully worn in LaBella flats) and ultra comfy. Only selling as I liked it so much I tracked down a JV Jazz (super rare with the large Fender logo) and I prefer the slimmer 1.5" nut width with my dodgy left hand. BTW, BC mod Billy Apple liked this JV Precision at an impromptu bass bash so much that he also tracked down a JV Precision in the same livery - it really is super nice. Pics here in original FS thread and its in basically the same condition (few dings and scrapes, nothing in any way major or noticeable from a few feet away and overall great for the age) http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2406920 Pickup from London the only option at present as I don't have a box. £600 and thats an absolute barg. No case I'm afraid but I could protect it for a meet-up in a crappy soft gigbag No trades thanks as I am buying a fretless with the proceeds (deal already agreed on the fretless, so no offers thanks) Pic from original seller ozzy138 (hope that's OK?) to whet appetite
19. Truly the best sounding and playing fretless basses out there IMHO
20. Pete, dump the BP-100 and for less than a second hand PlatPro you can get a perfectly decent 2nd hand piezo like a BassMax, Realist, Shadow SH950 or Underwood and I bet you that would solve your sound problem (it would work well with a Briefcase and wouldn't need a preamp) I bet there's a BCer with a spare who would lend you one for a tryout
21. Thanks Jack, I will be watching this later as I am another lower back pain sufferer
22.
That top is in very good condition...how old?
They are still being made (a cool £1700-odd at GAK http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-super-bassman-head/56166/) Looks amazing and I bet it sounds superb. Afraid i couldn't cope with 65 pounds weight though
23. Nope just ordered it. Several huge advocates of it among the TalkBass DB community so fingers crossed
24. Yet to gig my new one but at the mo' my DB has a Full Circle and I am going through an Acoustic Image head. Its sounds about as good as a piezo pickup will allow. I have also taken the plunge and ordered a Troll mic http://trollmicrophone.com/ as that will almost certainly give me the most authentic DB sound and - at least in my small venue ensemble - there won't be drums and foldback monitors to lead it to feed back
25.
Have I missed the price somewhere? What was it?
Post 14 above: "less than a grand" Nice score!
