  1. Just to clarify, the amp is lush. As much as I love Cam @wayne58, I wouldn’t describe him as lush, he’s not my type, even though we have shared a room on many occasions. Rob
  2. Rounds and a pick? Ooof. La Bellas are lovely strings, I have them on two of mine. I have TI’s on the other two, which I also love. They are quite different. La Bellas have a deeper voice than the TI’s, which are more mid pronounced.
  3. There’s a V4B in the classifieds here right now. I know the owner and the amp, it’s lush.
  4. Do people roll the tone up? Blimey, I might try it tomorrow at rehearsal 😂 It’s almost always rolled completely off for me, except for a couple of specific tunes in the set, and even then, it’s just inched up a fraction. Rob
  5. Met Lee for the first time last week when he popped round to buy a pickguard. Lovely chap, and also a fantastic player! An hour flew by in the blink of an eye. Rob
  6. I did a gig with mine last night, everything at 12 o’clock inc. gain, except VLE and VPF which were off. I imagine your “Old School” is the same as the VLE on the LM3. Master was at about 10 o’clock. I can’t really stray far from these settings, as it just sounds so right as it is. I would like to compare my LM3 with the new LM4 sometime. I should just wander down to Promenade Music with it and do just that. Rob
  7. This is a lovely looking Jazz from '78. Aged Olympic White, rosewood and blocks, lovely. Until..............you see the weight, 12 lbs 2.3 oz !! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225609795516?hash=item34876447bc%3Ag%3AWpkAAOSwro9kgdq6&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwBNlNo%2BP88iSpxz3%2BGeNvtuPeMBnwB%2FJUzlLm827NqvgcxznHetPtm8CAo91Yak91NV3gQO8tTOwmKps56wfRK4agIxuQO0eiaXDo8hgZBHvUQtqjnMVTZ9ps%2FiMY%2F3TxlFkbXOeIxAafIBr1Op20aNXo0hvhfwKxRl1WqIUjIL%2BDm2IEQQXxQNJxGd9tvPo1nM20Ou0mXKpksojXfnmU5bPTfLYQSxiS1c0N9fl4njh5%2BMDP8Ux%2BIwQFZL3POpvtQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8CO84CUYg&LH_ItemCondition=4 Is that a record? I've never seen one that heavy. The shop seems to have a number of basses on consignment. Rob
  8. I have Barefaced cabs too, a One10 and a Two10. I also use an LM3, but not tried the new ones. I most often use the LM3 with a Markbass 102P Traveler, but sometimes with the One10 and once with the Two10. What I will say is that they do work well with the Barefaced cabs. Regarding the amps themselves, I’ve said it before, but there’s some kind of magic dust sprinkled inside these things. No matter what, or where, they always sound good. When I go and watch friends play, and they’re using MB amps, I’m always impressed with their tone and the way they fill the room. Rob
  9. Good to know! Hope you're fettlin' grand. To anyone interested, I've heard this Ampeg in action, in fact I've been on stage standing next to it, it's awesome! Rob
  10. I know of only one of these in Lancashire, so it must be Cam, am I right? Rob
  11. I'd be interested to know other peoples settings too. With my P basses, I tend to run gain at 12 o'clock, although I have run it lower. I don't hear any difference in compression between 10 and 12 o'clock, but then I've not run it higher either. Bass & Treble at 12 too, Middle at 1 o'clock. Master usually is around 11 to 12 o'clock with my BF One10, which to me is plenty loud. Rob
  12. Would anyone like to discuss this one? The logo? 42mm nut? The title says the case is from 1965, but it clearly isn't. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175754892735?hash=item28ebced5bf%3Ag%3AS-IAAOSw6xNkegOI&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4ImxXlqXSv5HNgHDmUyoUww6f2ygiyT1TDoJvZn7zkInlV0GNlWvrOCv5isJn99yGuJPusdjCIT4%2BYeiBZqPM6MtyP3zeZ4foAKk6d0RVSsweLjSyekMrKEAoC7hggVRdGi8tu08ArQ%2BYvZ65Kk6if47jCk8kpR%2BQ4NX9qSw0vDoqFQL81E2BE4KMYqGQYuZM1yOTAieKL55Kj8lAjKwYpP2UHJQymbdpfJb2x1pgB%2FjULrWGvU%2FAQA%2B2X%2Ba8shfhDyfu7vYMHvEkfiIB6e77OBgf%2BDXWMIUtPQ%2FJgRSO071|tkp%3ABk9SR7iD25OQYg&LH_ItemCondition=4 Rob
  13. Just an update on mine too. I am finding it very comfortable, and it does go short enough for me. I agree with the squeaky comment, mine hasn't stopped squeaking yet after a couple of weeks use. I'm using a bass that's a tad over 9lbs now, so it's really useful. Rob
  14. I’m selling this as I’ve upgraded my practice amp to a Phil Jones Double Four. This little amp has done me proud for the last year or so. It’s great in the lounge, small enough to hide behind furniture, the aux. input is good for your iPad or laptop for play along practice. I’ve owned it since new. I have all the original packaging, so it will be shipped in that. Price includes mainland UK shipping. Cheers, Rob
  15. I’ve just bought a Phil Jones Double Four from Tom. Very smooth and quick deal and the amp was here in no time at all. Highly recommended. Thanks, Rob
  16. I have one of these, and they are splendid indeed. I can only imagine what two sound like! Good price too. Good luck, they shouldn’t hang around.
  17. @MungoBass is it this one? https://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_speaker_bag_behringer_ce500.htm?glp=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw67ajBhAVEiwA2g_jEHtSFNVjSjpiFPxxrvh7-W7BhH-Cr-RkY7bVBjHiJIgLSZ1bpyHzYhoC5fIQAvD_BwE Cheers, Rob
  18. Just popped up this morning. @CHRISDABASS is selling an all original 1969 Precision on Facebook Marketplace. Looks very nice, inc. original case. 8lbs 5oz too! https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/620885056741301/ Share some details here Chris! Rob
  19. @tom.android and @Bassassin, I get where you’re coming from. I played it tonight at jazz jam, with the BBOT bridge, and it was great. Jazz jam is a whole other story though. I do err on the side of vintage hardware, and always have. I’ll not change the bridge for the time being, I need get used to the bass first. It does help that the bridge a 70’s design rather than the 60’s threaded saddles. Rob
  20. The knob are pretty much identical, but shinier. I’ll have a look at them.
