    Sorry to hear you’re having some health battles. Perhaps take the pressure off yourself and give yourself a specific length of time ‘off’. Put everything away for a month and tell yourself you’re not going to touch it but after the set time you’re going to crack on. In the meantime, consume as much music and bass related stuff as possible. I find watching old live gigs of bands and artists I love on YouTube makes me itch to pick up the instrument. You might find that the idea of not being able to play it combined with lots of inspiration to be a good reset.

    Yeah but it’s only a 4 string with no 5 string option. Sorry, I meant that I’m surprised they haven’t jumped on the SS 5 string gap rather than the SS as a general rule. Yeah, I’m not a massive fan of the styling of the Talmans. I’m a bit of a boring traditional shaped guitar guy. Maybe I need to play one of the EHB ones and get over myself as they’re nice looking, I just can’t imagine myself playing one as they’re a bit too modern looking!😂🙏

    Yeah, all very good points. I think just as mentioned above that as SS’s are having their moment, I’m surprised that a brand like Sire hasn’t jumped in with a decent entry level bass. Especially when you can see it’s been done by Ibanez already, so it can be achieved.

    I’m looking at getting a 5 string. And, as I’m mostly gigging shorts now, I thought I’d try and find a SS 5. Having a scan of this thread and multiple googles. Is the only real option for a 5 string shortie under £1k+ the Ibanez Talman & Micro? Am I missing something or is there a massive gap in the market here?

    I tend to get EB Slinky’s for £19.99 on Amazon. I’d like to put some Rotosounds on my Mustang but the only medium scale I could find were 40-90 gauge.

    A lovely natural one of these turned up on EBay earlier this week for not a lot of £. I was just on my way out when I saw it and when I returned 30 mins later to buy it, it had gone 😞 Gutted.

    I was just thinking of this song. I’m fine with 90% of it but my brain goes into meltdown on the Middle8. I can limp my way through but the alternating triads really make my head hurt trying to keep the feel and remembering the changes.

    I use the Nux Mighty Plug also. It’s absolutely brilliant to just pick the bass up and have a play. But, I must confess I wish it could send out to wireless headphones as it is frustrating getting tangled up in the headphone wire.

    After the Birmingham bass show my dream bass list became a bit longer. Top of it now would be a Manton SS Ecko MK1 hollow body.
