  1. Very very nice. I didn’t even realise they did a Kingman SS… Got to say, I’m getting very jealous of your bass collection John!
  2. Yeah 👍
  3. Have been to 2 gigs in 2 weeks, can you tell I’m not gigging at the moment? 😂 Last week was Corey Kent @ Birmingham Academy 2 with the fantastic Jordan Ray Landers on bass! Cracking show! Last night I re-lived my youth and watched Madina Lake @ The Asylum in Birmingham! Thoroughly enjoyed it and nice to see them back at it… Ruined a bit by a parking ticket on the van as I’d completely missed that the car park requires you to pay a full day fee for parking a van and I’d only paid 4 hours. Bit confusing as everything was out of order and the app has no van option. But, never mind… £60 into the idiot tax box.
  4. Joel bought my TU-2 tuner pedal. Absolute gent to deal with. Great comms, fast payment and made the transaction a pleasure! Thanks Alex
  5. Decided to upgrade the bridge and tuners on my Gretsch, to Gotoh to add a some tuning stability and, well I wanted black hardware. Absolutely fallen for this bass, it sounds and feels awesome for what I need. And, considering with the new bits it’s still only cost me around £350, it absolutely rips! I’m thinking I’d like to put some black Gretsch knobs on it now though… Does anyone have any kicking around they’d like to sell before I go to a certain Chinese distributor? This was my first time changing anything myself on a bass too, other than strings, strap locks and a basic setup and it went well with no swears. Only very slight annoyance is that the D string screw is fully extended and the intonation is very fractionally flat but there’s no more left on the screw. But, it’s fractions and un-noticeable to the average ear. Anyway, here it is with its new bits. Really pleased, quite like it without the pickguard too, but I like to stick my pick under it…. Maybe a RightOn strap with pick holders instead, and some new black pickup covers… Ah, it never ends 🥲🙏
  6. I think if you own and play a bass for over 10 years, you’ll sincerely miss it when it’s gone. If there’s a genuine reason to get rid, i.e you solely play 5 string or short scale now, or the neck shape is causing you pain and so on, then move it on. Similarly, if you’ve only had it a couple of years and unsure of it then it’s probably not for you. Hate to say it but the internet (this forum especially) is generally the root of GAS. My suggestion is to stop watching YouTube videos of the T’Bird for a bit and more and you’ll likely stop lusting for one. For what it’s worth, I have a Mex Fender Jazz & a black Epi T’bird pro and as mentioned above, as fun as the T’bird is for 10 mins of fun, it’s massive and pretty uncomfortable to play unless you’re throwing it around a stage. If you’ve got only 1 bass, you can’t go far wrong with the Jazz. IMO of course. Alex On second thought, that’s very sensible of me, buy a Gibson.
  7. Very nice that!
  8. Wow that’s a cool bass! GLWTS 👍
  9. Think I’m may actually go for some Gotoh GB707 instead. My main concern was tuning stability rather than reducing weight and I can save about £20 on them against the licensed HS and they’ll already be a huge step up from the existing Chinese ones. Thanks for everyone’s help with this
  10. Really enjoyed reading that! Looking forward to the end result, looks great so far 🙌
  11. That’s good to know, I’ll take a look! I’m going to be putting a Gotoh B201B4 bridge on it anyway so not set on Hipshot.
  12. Wow! That’s bloody stunning! 😍 I’ve seen a lot of Andy’s work on the build diaries and have always been blown away. But, I’d not seen this before! Is there a thread from when he did the work?
  13. Full PA system. Yamaha/Wharfedale. Full PA system perfect for small bands or DJs starting out. It’s a Yamaha EMX312 powered mixer & x2 Wharfedale Exp-X15. Includes x2 heavy duty Speakon cables, a kettle lead and x2 old Stagg speaker stands. These are really beat up and tatty but they do the job. Condition is okay considering it was gigged a lot. The speakers have had a few scuffs on the grills which can be resprayed if needed. But, the carpet cover is in pretty good shape with no noticeable rips etc. Happy to run an IPhone and microphone through it to show it working upon collection in Telford. REDUCED TO £275. £300 Ono. cash on collection only from Telford. The speakers are big and heavy so no postage unfortunately.
  14. Brill, thank you 🙏 I’ll go for the licensed then as I’m sure they’ll be a hell of a step up from the stock Chinese ones on it at the moment.
  15. Thank you kindly. I assume by reversing them you mean if I ever wanted to put them on a 4 in line headstock? Sorry for the naivety, other than adjusting a truss rod, this is the most DIY I’ve ever done to a bass 😅
  16. I’m looking at getting some Hipshot Ultralite 3/8 2 x 2 tuners for my Gretsch and I’ve noticed that they sell a set for £140 ish and then also a ‘licensed’ set for half the price. They look exactly the same other than ones made in USA and one in SKorea. Any reason anyone can mention to not bother getting the cheaper ones? I’m happy to spend the difference if there’s a huge difference in quality, but equally, I’m wondering if the difference will be noticeable at all… So thought I’d ask the question here before buying and see if anyone has experience… TIA Alex
  17. I had this for a long time. I use an electric Bass all the time now in my duo. For years I used an electro acoustic (Ortega KT walker) because I felt I had to play acoustic. Then, I got so fed up of changing the strings so regularly on the acoustic I gave up and bought electric. Not a single person has ever mentioned that it’s a shame I use an acoustic bass in the last 2 years.
  18. I know beauty is in the eye of the BassHolder… But, that is one ugly bass.
  19. Price includes postage to mainland UK. Comes in original box and is in a pretty decent, butused condition considering it’s had plenty of use. Works as should. Reduced £35 inc. postage
  20. First gig of 2025 last night was a 40th at Studley Social Club in Redditch. Considering the state of the building on the outside, it was actually a really nice room with a cool stage and friendly staff. I’m really wanting to love my Mustang as I think it’s gorgeous and plays so nice. I played the first set with the intention of playing it all night. But, I swapped it out for the second set as it just doesn’t sound as good as my Gretsch to my ears. Both went through my B3 into the PA and monitored using 64Audio A4t in-ears. All round, a good night and enjoyed blowing off the cobwebs after a few weeks off!
