It’s very similar spec wise to the Ashdown Capri but with an active preamp for £50 more. So, that’s not bad really.

After sitting in the van talking about the talking at gigs thing quite a bit (ironic). My theory is that, i think we’re seeing people talking a lot more and being rude to the artists more and more because gigs are so accessible to everyone now. People that go to gigs are no longer just people that love live music and enjoy the artist. People don’t have to go to the box office to buy tickets or find out where their favourite bands are playing or just pop down to music venues because they want to be entertained by live music. People can now like one song of a band, or can see a clip on the internet that they enjoy and will go to a gig purely as a ‘night out’, because they can get a few mates and buy the tickets online and not think anymore of it other than a night out on the brew… Going out for a night out is so expensive anyway, people don’t really think twice about paying whatever it costs for an ‘experience’ … I genuinely think the only people concerned with the inflated prices of gigs are those that remember a time when gigs were affordable. For example, i grew up loving blink-182 but couldn’t bring myself to pay the prices when they recently reformed, much like a lot of my friends who also love the band. My ex-girlfriend however (Who grew up listening to R&B and absolutely hated anything with guitars in) went with a group of friends and plastered it across their instagram. But, this is just my theory on it and is more than likely to be wrong. Also, i know i sound like an old man talking about the good old days but I’m only 34. I just remember a time where going to gigs was something you only really did if you liked live music, and you learned a bit of gig-etiquette. Now, families will go for trips to watch a band or mates will book a stag do and pop in to watch a bit of a show because of one single, or because there’s nothing else going on.

And when you’ve paid the money and arrive at the venue you have to queue at the bar for a pint of beer. But good news, if you buy a double pint it’s only £14 so you save a quid! And then if you’re lucky you’ll get to stand next to group of people exercising what seems to be the newest fashion at gigs… Talking loudly the whole way through 👌

Rather lovely that! Good to hear you’re enjoying it!

Yeah, Ashdowns SS is similar too, except it’s a slightly different truss rod adjuster I think

I was really hoping Cort would do a GB SS. So much so that I messaged them on Instagram shortly after getting my Fusion 5. But, I’ve got to say, the colours of these really don’t do it for me. I could potentially get on board with the green one if it didn’t have a black headstock. Petty, I know. But the colours just look like ANOTHER cheap entry short scale aimed at children. Don’t they already have the Action Jnr or whatever it’s called as their entry level shortie? Appreciate these will likely be relatively cheap but I’m not sure why they didn’t go all out on something more in keeping with the GB range (nice wood finishes and decent hardware etc.) Rather than another budget short scale.

Brill, thanks Gents 👍

I’ve currently got Schaller S Locks in my bass but would like to go back to standard pins and rubber strap locks. the S locks screws are slightly bigger to my eye than the standard screws. Would this cause any issues? Or, can anyone reccomend a get around? Matchstick shavings in the hole? Any suggestions appreciated Thanks Alex

Good to know, thank you!

Sounds great! I made the mistake of googling Duesenberg Short scales and think I’ve fell in love with the Kavalier in red sparkle 😍 -

Oosh, that’s a little bit nice! What are the pickups in that? -
I clocked these as they’re very pretty but are they not guitar pickups rather than bass?
-
Very pretty that! Congrats 🙌

Spotted this on EBay. Can’t comment on the quality but it’s within your budget… https://ebay.us/m/WYVKDd

Interested in this too. At some point I’d like to upgrade my Gretsch, from what i can see, I’ve only seen that TV Jones offer a few mini humbucker options… https://tvjones.com/bass-pickups/ And, i think Seymour Duncan also offer a Mini Bass Humbucker. Can’t comment on any of them as it’s just from my own research rather than experience.

Are they still grounded from the pots to under the bridge as well? Or was this an earlier method before they started going through the body from under the control plate?
-
I’ve seen this on a few jazzes now but still none the wiser… what’s the line from the bridge, to the bridge pickup for?
-
You might well be able to get a Gretsch G2220 ‘Junior Jet’ under £200 2nd hand. They’re fantastic basses for their money and punch well above their price imo.

Soul Revolution with BBC Concert Orchestra on BBC2. Opinions?
AlexDelores replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
I didn’t watch the show but I know Phil Mulford often plays bass with Beverly Knight. Not sure if he was specifically on this show though. -
The cheap flats I’ve just put on my Jazz bass are these Adagio ones and they’re really nice. Better feel to me than the Fender Flats I’ve previously used. But, for whatever reason I now have a bit of a rattle on my A string when played open. Can only assume it’s because they’re lower gauge, so sitting lower in the nut and not giving any break angle to the string post? Maybe 🤷♂️ It’s not awful though. But, the strings are really nice on my jazz. Keeping them on I think, assuming I can get the rattle sorted.
