1. Don't forget that a lot of times the insurance doesn't cover musical instruments.
2. Personally I wouldn't post a bass, if the buyer can't collect it or meet me then tough . I'm selling my TRB6P, and I've had 2 offers from people wanting to buy it, one was in the West Indies of all places, the other in France. It's too risky for me to ship it, if it gets trashed or lost then it's me that loses. I have a YP railcard and will deliver for train fare, which is probably cheaper than insured postage and a lot more reliable. Are they saying they'll post it but the buyer has to arrange shipping and insurance ? I think that's fair, as long as the seller packages it and takes photos or videos the packaging for their protection.

Anyone fancy an absolutely awesome 6 string bass ?
4. Just follow the root of the chords, it'd be a very simple root maybe root 5 pattern on that type of song, nothing too complicated.
5. There's a live version by Robert Glasper that I kind of did. Meshell Ndegocello does a cool version too with Chris Dave on drums.
6. I did Butterfly by Herbie Hancock, just grooved the 1st time through and solo'd the 2nd. I downloaded a without bass version from somewhere.
7.
A local builder made it fretless and put some epoxy on it... bought it on ebay.uk for 1400 euros and really pleased with it. It used to be like this... I do think the epoxy makes a difference (I had fretless Wal basses before but the epoxy changes the sound in a good way for me)
That's probably the nicest Wal I've seen. I like the fancy wood ones, but that has a beautiful simplicity about it.
8.
Still sounds very 'mwah' just a little less attack at the start of the note to my ears, pickup position and, for want of a better word, Wal-ness contributing to the tone nicely. Next time time you do a video with the Wal can you keep the whole bass out of shot? The GAS is killing me
Nice sound man, beautiful bass ! I think Wal's epitomise the fretless sound so well. Who lacquered the fretboard ? Looks very cool !
9. It's good to experiment with strings, to discover your sound. I'm hopefully picking up a fretless 6 string this coming Friday. I've got a set of Fodera round wound strings and I have a set of 'nearly new' D'Addario half wounds that were fitted to my TRB6 that I'm gonna try on it. I'd like a set of flats, but I'll see how the others sound first, 6 string sets are a bit expensive . Two of my favourite fretless players both have different preferences regarding strings, Michael Manring uses light gauge round wounds, and Steve Lawson uses flat wounds.
10. Didn't see this when I posted the same thing earlier. £746 according to todays exchange rate. 11.
BTB 'Terrafirma' apparently... http://www.ibanez.co...terrafirma.html On sale in the States for $1000. Reckon it'll be a similar amount, perhaps a shade less here. Lot bass for the buck if it is!
£746 according to todays exchange rate. 12. I have music business classes at uni, I'm sure I was told that people don't listen to CD's, you're best to send a link to a website like soundcloud, or your band's/artists website. Probably different if you're talking about small festivals I guess.
13. Here's a start for you.
14. I have a Mayones 6 string Elegance, brilliant bass. Jimmy Haslip and Janek Gwizdala both use Mayones basses.
15.
But that's for when you want to use that certain attack or technique. Also doesn't everyone play dynamically rather than digging in all the time.
Again it's personal, and I agree totally with your comment. If I want to accent a bar or a phrase then I can, relative to the previous and subsequent bars. It's a question of refining your playing technique, and I think depends on what you play and what you needs are. I personally like playing jazz and fusion, so if I were to be 'digging in' all the time it wouldn't sound right and I'd probably injure myself.
16.
the trouble with a very low action is, it doesn't give you much scope for different dynamics in your playing. starts to choke the notes when played hard.
It depends, I play very lightly anyway, so I can play a lot more aggressively (relatively speaking), but still not get any fret rattle. It's all relative, if your normal playing is heavy, then you'll need a higher action any higher still if you like to 'dig in' during some passages.
17. It's good that a company are gonna put out something like this, after all its only gonna have a niche market, I doubt it'll sell thousands.
18. It's personal preference. I'm a huge fan of Jimmy Haslip, he must have his action really quite high, judging by his playing technique, he really likes to almost snap his strings. I believe Anthony Jackson has a very high action too, and you can hear it in his playing, I was transcribing some of his lines from an album he did with Steve Khan the other day, you can really hear him digging in. Yet someone like Matthew Garrison has his action set ridiculously low.
19. I don't think it can be too low, depends on your personal playing style. I have mine as low as I can get meaning a lot of people can't play my basses without a lot of buzzing and fret rattle. It can be too high though, if it's very high then the notes will be sharp when you play them. My one tutor at uni was always going on about my action being too low, and not being able to 'dig in'. I don't like a high action though, and tend not to get asked for gigs where I need to dig in.
20. No problem, it seems odd though that you're having problems with just so little on there. I was using loads of synths before I ran into problems. Try it without podfarm see if it goes away. There's some info here about freezing tracks. http://www.lynda.com/GarageBand-tutorials/Freezing-tracks-improve-system-performance/84529/87997-4.html You're using the same garageband I used.
21. Try here https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/garageband?categoryID=127 What version of garageband have you got and what interface are you plugging into ?
22. I used to have this on my old macbook with garageband, I was overdoing things. I was using 15 or so tracks of software instruments, synths and things though. Try freezing the tracks that you've finished with, free's up CPU usage.
23. Just found this. Looks pretty cool.
24.
Yes, 2000 watts (and only 1000 for the valve pre-amp version). Quite why they have to do this beats me - how many people will decide not to buy them through fear of damaging their speakers? Plus they`ve not got enough of a name in the bass amp market anyway. Keep them to the regular 500 watts which is plenty loud enough and if sales work out then add higher powered models. Seems daft to me.
The Americans like lots of watts, probably the same thing they have with cars, houses and fridges, they always have to be huge. I remember when EBS bought out that little head a couple of years ago, there were all these posts on talkbass about how low the output was. Also lets remember, this is a bass amp, and it's made by Behringer, so the actual true output is almost certainly nowhere near 2000 watts !
