  1. A very good album to listen to is Bill Evans Sunday at the Village Vanguard, with Scott LaFaro on bass. It’s a strange recording with piano on one channel, and bass/drums on the other. I transcribed a whole load of tunes from that - piano as well as bass. It’s easy to hear the separate instruments.
  2. You’ve caused me to have to change my t-shirt after covering it in coffee, through laughing.
  3. Have a listen to Kind of blue by Miles Davis.
  4. I thought it was just me.
  5. Not hard at all I guess if the item is bought during working hours. If it’s bought outside opening hours then it’s surely a different matter? I believe a lot of their trade is online.
  6. Very nice! My favourite ever bass was a Modulus Q6. I used it all through uni. I’d like one of the Oteil Burbridge models like Steve Lawson uses.
  7. Oddly, that’s how I’ve always referred to him.
  8. It was his racism that lead to the formation of Rock against racism back in the 1970s.
  9. Where did ‘his’ money come from?
  10. My W&T Chronos came with one, giving the bridge pickup three possible positions: 70s jazz, 60s jazz and Stingray.
  11. For me it’s without doubt the Mod Devices Dwarf.
  12. I generally buy my camera film from Japan via eBay, I’ve bought a couple of posters too. Items generally arrive within a few days. Obviously those purchases don’t attract VAT or customs charges, which might affect the how long it takes to arrive.
  13. Definitely.
  14. Ah, thank you. I’ll check that out.
  15. I’ve watched no end of video demonstrations of their gear. The demonstrations tend to feature someone playing very fast and distorted metal riffs. Is that all they’re good for though? I have a couple of their pedals, I do use them to provide distortion, I also use them - particularly the Alpha Omega Ultra - as just a preamp. Are they suitable for other genres and styles of playing too?
  16. Where would you get such a thing from? I’ve got something like that for my Ableton Push, that was made by the people who built the Push though.
  17. I’m looking for a padded dust cover, to put over my pedalboard when I’m not using it. Does anyone know where you can get such a thing please?
  18. This sounds fantastic Thomas. You’ll have to let me know when and where you’re playing. I’ve thinking about using surround sound, but using Bluetooth speakers from my MacBook. What’s your budget? They have these in the Electroacoustic studios at UoB. https://www.genelec.com/active-subwoofers
  19. These things are always very subjective. If you’re a jazzer your top 10 will no doubt feature loads of jazz players. If you’re a metal fan it’ll be metal bassists. My #1 of 2021 is Michael Manring who most bassists dislike. He released a fabulous album this year - his first album for ages. John Myung is still brilliant. Arran McSporran plays some beautiful fretless lines on the new Utopia album.
  20. I saw Plant in a coffee shop in Machynlleth two years ago, he has a place a couple of miles away. 1979 was a very good year, I was born in June.
  21. I wouldn’t go for anything expensive, you’re only going to whack the he’ll out of them with bits of wood. 😁
