1.
I really hope it's 450, that would be amusing
It would have been!
2.
No idea, but given that TC reckon there's only 11w difference between 8 ohm and 4 ohm I'd chance an arm and suggest... not a lot! Even more curiously, the RH750 puts out the same 236w at 4 and 8 ohms.
Now that is rather odd, on both counts! 11w difference? I know watts don't equate to loudness but I thought it was roughly about 1/3 difference between 8Ω & 4Ω. Does the RH750 achieve more volume than the RH450?
3. Another Q here. slightly off topic, but still TC related. See how the RH450 was measured putting out 236 watts at 4Ω, what wattage is it at 2.7Ω?
4. My Ibanez has a gap like that, but that's only because I stripped off all the paint. Beforehand, there was no gap. Send it back. Shuker P is nice. & have a look at Bass Direct too.
5. Sounds like the logical thing, but play about & put the compressor in different locations. Same goes for the other pedals too.

Texas Jazz?

It was £80 & a schoolkid had first dibs. Don't know if he took it. The shop mainly sells party goods & black pudding & the bass was sitting next to the black pud.
7.
But this is taking the matalan suit putting armani labels on it and selling it as a Matalan suit. Maybe not 100% ethical but he's not the one calling it something it's not.
Okay, Armani Matalan suits. But he's put Fender on the Headstock, surely that is calling it something it is not? How can we be sure they're even Squires?
8. Isn't this fraud? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Squier-Precision-Bass-Guitar-/180878713697?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2a1d362361#ht_2325wt_1312 If I bought a Matalan suit & tarted it up with labels saying Emporio Armani & advertised it as an Emporio Armani Armani Exchange suit, I'm defrauding someone. Even if I'm not making much money, it's still lying to the purchaser. The bass could then be sold to some unsuspecting person as a genuine Fender (even though it isn't) & then when they go to sell it, end up in trouble for trying to sell it as something it isn't. I don't agree with this practise.
9. I'd play about until you find what You like the sound of. I've never used the MXR filter, but I like my filter after most other effects.

Texas Jazz?

Texas Customs aren't the same. The one I've seen just has Texas on the headstock that's shaped more SX rather than Fender (almost identical to the one in the pic). Though the one I've seen does have decent looking tuners.

Texas Jazz?

Has anyone heard of an instrument brand called Texas (other than Texas Instruments AKA TI)? I saw a jazz bass for sale (though it might be gone now), but can't find anything on them. I think it's just a cheap Fender copy, but it got me curious? Here's a pic from tinterweb...

DIY Effects

Bit of perspex arrived today. It's 3mm too small! I think my bling project has a jinx on it. Silly me went & measured the top of the box in a hurry, not realising it's a frikkin tapered lump of plastic! I might end up sticking those superbrights elsewhere.
13. I'd do the same as BRX says too. Roadtrip. Although you say you don't like fanned frets, have a shot of a Dingwall before you rule it out. I seriously regret not getting one when I had the money. I've had an Ibanez SR1000 for the past 23 years & it's still my main bass. If I had £2500, I'd also have a look at Luthman & Shuker to name just a few. Have fun shopping!

AMPEG CAB

Damage? Usually that term means "how much it'll cost You to get it fixed". It shouldn't cost you anything if you've never used it.

AMPEG CAB

Before you do anything, where did you buy it? You can take it back & get a repair, replacement or full refund (even if it was a 2nd hand purchase).
16. Garageband is a doddle to use & I've found the best results are from taking a cable with a 1/4 jack on one end (plugged into bass) & a 3.5mm jack on the other (plugged into the socket on the back of the iMac). Open up GB & create new song (giving it the title you want), then on the top bar click Track > New Track > Real Instrument Track & click Create. On the new track that 's been created, it will have 5 icons (at the far left under the track name, which is probably "No Effects"). The first is a • , Click it so it goes red. At the Right of the screen there is a panel called "Track Info". At the bottom of the screen it says "Details", Click the arrow. Now choose your input source (if it just comes up "Mic" then you need to go to the top bar, click Garageband > Preferences > Audio/Midi & choose from the dropdown). Back to the "Track Info" pane, make sure your volume isn't turned full whack & click the Monitor dropdown & select On. If you have any trouble with the rest, let me know.
17. I prefer blend. It gives me a better control over the volume without changing the tone & it allows me to quickly switch from Neck to Bridge easily if the next song requires. I usually have it blending a small amount of Bridge into the Neck.
18. What about pool table felt? Take a bit of Velcro to the pub & see if it sticks.
19. First time I've had a "joke" turn into advice!
20.
Studio Spares - I don't get the joke!? :-s
It's the sort of place that I would have tried first, but you'd probably have known if they sold what you're looking for (didn't you used to work there?). My rather dry sense of humour.
21. Have you tried Studio Spares? (sorry, couldn't resist that.) Cab carpet wouldn't do the job, it's not looped. Try car boot carpet, something fairly thin. Unless you fancy a shagpile pedal board? Edit to say, it sticks to felt! Or this... http://www.liberator.co.uk/veltex-velcro-display-fabric.html
22. You can go from either your DI or the fx send. Some fx sends bypass the amp's EQ section. I've recorded using both (not at the same time though). So your answer is Yes, you can just get an XLR to jack (of any size you like), plug in & record.
23. I think this is what got me into bass to start with... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPXJRSP7hwU Loved it since I was a kid.
24. I was always a "9s on the electric & 11s on the acoustic". I hardly play electric nowadays & just restrung the acoustic with 13s & quite like them.
