  1. Just discovered Vital a couple of days ago. THey do a free version & from the short play I've had it sounds pretty good... https://vital.audio
  2. Sorry, but I disagree. I used to have the same view, but a metronome can really tighten up the sound & reduce sloppiness. Even if it’s just the drummer who has the click, it makes a huge difference. You can always adjust the tempo on the fly if you feel it’s too fast/slow.
  3. I’ve been working on a couple of songs with acoustic guitar players/singers & ask them to play to a click & then send me it. What gets me, is how do they manage to lose time with the click. Some they end up playing between the click (usually mid chorus), some lose/gain a beat & some just forget they had a click at all. 😂
  4. I’d spend a bit of time learning Logic’s drummer. You can really tune the drums to bits, swap bits of kit & fire it off as a midi to do what you want with. Also worth making it multi out, so you can EQ & add effects to every bit of the kit.
  5. Well done Dad. A tight run to the end, but a worthy win. 😎
  6. We’re playing live worship on 6th June. Looking forward to playing again.
  7. Since the current owner of rickenbacker acted like a bawbag to BC, threatening legal action & basically being a fousty front bottom, I've lost all interest in Rics. I'd get a rickenfacker instead. Bawjaws hates them. 😂
  8. A bit more than your budget, but Roli Equator 2 has some verrrry nice baby grand patches. Lovingly mix’s up in a number of different ways.
  9. No, but I use an octaver. Synth goes lower than low B too.
  10. I don't mic my cab. Bass > pedalboard > interface > DAW > Interface > LP6. I've never used my rig for about 2 years.
  11. I've not used mine in anger, but I've played bassw & subby synth bass through them at a decent volume (well I do use them for recording & mixing). They give a very clear sound & fairly uncoloured.
  12. Over the past year, I've been working with other musicians. We use google drive & bounce each individual track down as etierh an MP3 or a Wav. When we're getting the song started, it's mostly MP3 to keep the size down, then once we know what we're doing, it's all wav. Most of the others use Reaper, I use LPX.
  13. She can listen to 5 songs either in one sitting or spread out over the week. It ensures I get 2 days peace from her playing music. 🥸
  14. I’m generous. She’s allowed 5 songs per week.
  15. I hope you're right. My wife only discovered Goodbye Country a few weeks ago (even though I've let her hear a few tracks from it) & she just decided yesterday that she needs to listen to some Tears for Fears albums. as she loves the songs I've let her hear.
  16. I think these are some gems which have maybe already been forgotten: Groove Armada - Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) Tears For Fears - The Hurting The Silencers - A Blues for Buddha Marillion - Misplaced Childhood Simple Minds - New Gold Dream
  17. If you’ve got Logic Pro X, most of the stock synths are MPE. Another 2 are Strobe2 & Cypher2. I’ve got them both, but hardly use Strobe2.
  18. Same here. E2 is an impressive synth. I got it in January for £80. The other 2 I'm really liking and are MPE, are Pigments3 & Serum. Both very different & both impressive.
  19. A Rise37 would be the ideal size. 😎
  20. The thing is though, whatever you get, you'll start finding ways of using it more & that 2-3 songs ends up being most songs. I looked at the FA08 a few years ago, but I ended up getting a NI S88 controller. Problem was, it was way too big for me to make use of. I didn't have a studio in the house & carting it to band rehearsal was not what I wanted to do. I then got the Roli & with it being fairly small, it gets used regularly. The FA06 is a decent size & not too big to take around. Me, I've a hankering for a Roland System 8.
  21. 😹 I was gonna say it might be caused by living in France, but Daft Punk are frenchies, as is JM Jarre. 🤣
  22. On the contrary, I do like classical & soundtrack score. I don’t think there’s a genre of music I won’t listen to. Just had me thinking, you might like this… There’s 3 versions of the Bloom Innocent album. The original, an acoustic version & the instrumental orchestral version called Horizontalism Sessions.
  23. Don't worry about it. I know you're more a happy hardcore kinda guy! 😂
  24. Well I remember the band "A flock of seaguls", so this must be "A band of pigeons", which means it's 80's. So Synthwave it is! I had fun making this & might go back to add things... I went back & made improvements.
  25. Finally getting some time. I'll try & get a review up for Erax Sound up this week (hopefully today, all going well). Mine started out life as an entry for a BC comp, but I liked it so much that I kept working on it. Andy asked me to send stems with no automation or effects. I kept the sound sensitive effects on, but removed any reverbs or delays & removed all the automation. The guitar parts were recorded by a friend using a Kemper & was sent to me with his chosen effects on the parts, but everything else was me, so I could remove everything. So I sent the original track I mixed over to him to check he was happy to do it & put all the stems in Google Drive for him to access. Andy likes to get to work straight away & kept great communication. He sent me the first draft, made a small change to the guitar solo & snare & that was it. Then he mastered & I had the track back in various formats. The first thing I noticed is how much more punch it has. It also sounds a lot fresher. This isn't his usual genre. He normally does Rock & Metal, but he's done a fine job on this genre (whatever it may be). Here's my original: Here's Erax:
