  1. I think these are some gems which have maybe already been forgotten: Groove Armada - Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) Tears For Fears - The Hurting The Silencers - A Blues for Buddha Marillion - Misplaced Childhood Simple Minds - New Gold Dream
  2. If you’ve got Logic Pro X, most of the stock synths are MPE. Another 2 are Strobe2 & Cypher2. I’ve got them both, but hardly use Strobe2.
  3. Same here. E2 is an impressive synth. I got it in January for £80. The other 2 I'm really liking and are MPE, are Pigments3 & Serum. Both very different & both impressive.
  4. A Rise37 would be the ideal size. 😎
  5. The thing is though, whatever you get, you'll start finding ways of using it more & that 2-3 songs ends up being most songs. I looked at the FA08 a few years ago, but I ended up getting a NI S88 controller. Problem was, it was way too big for me to make use of. I didn't have a studio in the house & carting it to band rehearsal was not what I wanted to do. I then got the Roli & with it being fairly small, it gets used regularly. The FA06 is a decent size & not too big to take around. Me, I've a hankering for a Roland System 8.
  6. 😹 I was gonna say it might be caused by living in France, but Daft Punk are frenchies, as is JM Jarre. 🤣
  7. On the contrary, I do like classical & soundtrack score. I don’t think there’s a genre of music I won’t listen to. Just had me thinking, you might like this… There’s 3 versions of the Bloom Innocent album. The original, an acoustic version & the instrumental orchestral version called Horizontalism Sessions.
  8. Don't worry about it. I know you're more a happy hardcore kinda guy! 😂
  9. Well I remember the band "A flock of seaguls", so this must be "A band of pigeons", which means it's 80's. So Synthwave it is! I had fun making this & might go back to add things... I went back & made improvements.
  10. Finally getting some time. I'll try & get a review up for Erax Sound up this week (hopefully today, all going well). Mine started out life as an entry for a BC comp, but I liked it so much that I kept working on it. Andy asked me to send stems with no automation or effects. I kept the sound sensitive effects on, but removed any reverbs or delays & removed all the automation. The guitar parts were recorded by a friend using a Kemper & was sent to me with his chosen effects on the parts, but everything else was me, so I could remove everything. So I sent the original track I mixed over to him to check he was happy to do it & put all the stems in Google Drive for him to access. Andy likes to get to work straight away & kept great communication. He sent me the first draft, made a small change to the guitar solo & snare & that was it. Then he mastered & I had the track back in various formats. The first thing I noticed is how much more punch it has. It also sounds a lot fresher. This isn't his usual genre. He normally does Rock & Metal, but he's done a fine job on this genre (whatever it may be). Here's my original: Here's Erax:
  11. Same here. Mine originally started as a BC comp song about a year ago, but then it grew arms & legs, then I got a guitarist involved too. I’ve been rather busy, but I’ll get it up on soundcloud soon. Gonna do a review for Andy too. Stellar work on it.
  12. I did a recording session for the next 3 services. They’re hoping church worship is back on in 3 weeks.
  13. I play bass & synth bass using a Roli Rise25 & a MacBook. The bass goes into the audio interface & I use 1 track on logic for the bass & how ever many I want for the synth(s). That’s me set for playing songs from The Greatest Showman a couple of years ago, which was fun.

    best value DAW

Nice boards. My point is that all pedal types have familiar controls to one another. If you know how to use one dirt pedal’s controls, you can easily find your way around most others. Same goes for modulation, filter, compression etc.

Nah. It’s more like a complete pedal board. If you change to another pedal board, you’ll find much of it is the same, just laid out a little different. Some bits work better, other bits not as well.
  16. Superlux HD668b cans were recommended to me about 5-6 years ago. They’ve never let me down. OneOdio get good reviews, so should my cans ever break, then I’ll be giving them a try.
  17. Giving my singing abilities, I might try rap. Expect it with a capital C.
  18. Oooh. I’d love to take you up if you still have a space left.
  19. Just off for new glasses. 🤓
  20. Arturia Pigments 3 is €99 with extra sound packs included. Worth every penny.
  21. Well done. It was a tough comp this month & hard to choose a fave from that lot. Looking forward to this month’s. 😎
  22. I'm in for this month. Took inspiration from the pic, listened to several Zulu songs & then got the vocal samples from Splice. Created a Kalimba part using a Kalimba sound in Logic's sampler & played a melody. Used a bunch of Logic's own loops to create the percussion parts. The bass is a logic sample too. Here's my finished track (though I may go back to play about with it)... Just updated the track.
  23. So for me, who wears hearing aids & wanting a decent turntable for less than £500 (so the full system will be lucky if it tops £1500), a half speed remastered record is pointless.
  24. I had a post on Facebook this morning advertising Dire Straits Brothers in Arms 1/2 speed vinyl remaster. So, what it basically means is that the vinyl lathe is run at 16rpm instead of 33rpm. The slower cutting time apparanttly means it can cut a deeper & more precise groove on the record, giving a more superior sound quality. Now when this is going straight from the master tape to the record, I get the theory. ButI believe Brothers in Arms was recorded digitally, so isn't the CD in theory going to be as good a sound as it's ever gonna have. Is half Speed remastering, or even mastering worth it, or is it another one of the world of HiFi's snake oils?
  25. I hear some slap after the "attempted beatboxing" breakdown, but not sure that there's any in the section from 1:18 onwards. If so, then it's not very good slap, even for metal.
