If someone's A/Bd different rigs & says "X" is better than "Y" because of "N", then their experience & advice is most likely going to be solid (I think that's the right word I'm looking for). But if it's someone who's only ever used the same style of rig states that "I was told by X that you need a 4x10 & a 1x15" & have only ever used that, why would you take it as gospel? I don't see where I denigrated anyone's experience. I've never said mixing speaker sizes doesn't work, only that it can be unpredictable.

If you're playing it in a band situation, then you can use a standard tuning. If you're wanting to use it to impress your lady or friends, then an open tuning of your choosing from those above (or off tinterweb). Could try some Alt open tunings too. Have fun.

Snake oil can be a powerful thing & if someone's been told that a 4x10 & 1x15 rig is the best & that's all they ever use, how would they know any different?

I think a DIY build would be your best option. Maybe a fEARful build like Musky suggests?

t'is a good point, but when I'm looking at houses I always look at area, age & a few other things to go with the bedrooms (these new places have bedrooms smaller than my pantry).

The action on my Ibby is currently just under 4mm. I used to have it down @ 2mm & it's a little easier to move around scales with the lower action, but nothing drastic. If it was lower or higher & I struggled to play the instrument, then I think more practice on my part would be required.

You know, I've never took much notice of how my thumb sits. It moves about depending on what notes I'm playing, but tends to mainly be rested horizontally on the apex of the neck. Just flicked through those vids above & glad to see I'm doing things the same.

The 2x10 combo will handle your low B. I use an octave pedal & get the low A just fine.

On a note of power supplies. The Bass Murf is happy to run off anything & share, just as long as it gets over 300ma. The PSU I use on the 101 is off a Phillips electric screwdriver (that I no longer have). Moog said they use + tip so you can use almost any household 9-15v PSU as long as the amps are ample.

The 101 can be fussy when it comes to sharing power. I tried it on a daisychain, Shep tried powering it off his power brick (can't recall what it was) & we both had to give it it's own PSU. simwells suggested trying a Diagio isolator or a Gigrig virtual battery in a previous thread (Shep might be using the latter now). They're + tip & I run my 101 off a 12v 200ma PSU & it's perfect. I also did a copper shielding mod (put some copper sheets on the inside wood panels).

It's a pretty uncoloured combo. Try some of your other basses with it as some sound awesome through it & others not so (as may be your case). Did you play about with the tone on your bass? Leaving it set for how you use it on the EBS might be part of the issue & playing with the filters could help too. Stand the combo on it's end (sideways) rather than tipping it back.

It should do. You're basically switching the wiring of them from series to parallel.

If you're looking for a GK 2x12, you'd be better spending a little extra on the Neo 212-II. Why not a 2x10?

The low E on the bass is @ 41hz, the low B on a 5 is @31hz. 52hz is @ Ab. However, the harmonics a note produces are what we often hear & usually an octave up, but trick our mind into thinking it's the root note. The lower hz a cab can produce though = trouser flapping. Edited to say, 52hz sounds like it might be a guitar cab?
