  1. That's a beauty! A real beauty!
  2. Christian is a wizard. He can fix anything. Have a look: https://unicornbass.se/site/wal-pro-1-e-neck-rebuild/ Nice guy too...
  3. A very nice dinosaur bass! Would benefit esthetically from this Hipshot bridge: Also the switching mentioned above... These old basses often get cracked around the jack when clumsy persons step on the cable. A good safety mod would be to install a form fitted plate/grounding piece at the bottom of the controls cavity. Hadn't my dungeons been overly full I'd buy it just for the sake of it...
  4. I am sad to hear you got ripped off... My Super P4 is a fantastic passive bass - P-basses should be passive i.m.o. - but I took out the rather useless two-way tone control and installed a Stellartone Tonestyler. That is the best retrofit for a P-bass ever made. Passive switch from fully open to mega dub roll-off without losing the distinction. No wet blanket, just nice tone. Try that before getting a preamp. BTW... I don't use flats anymore, even if I have a set cut for quick swap on my Super P. The Tonestyler and right playing style can mimic the flats tone rather well, and I prefer rounds seven days a week...
  5. This bass is truly gorgeous... ❤️
  6. My laboratory rig right now:
  7. I had the PJB Double Four, but the preamp SUCKED. I got that "digital feel" from it...
  8. That depends on the pickup you use. 1Mohm isn't that sensitive. Most small combos are suited for electric bass, so I solved the issue by putting a Creation AudioLabs Redeemer Circuit in between, the belt pack. It is a small buffer, originally made for electric basses or use of long cables, but works very well with my Realist Lifeline. It has an input impedance of more than 20 Mohm, so you can use ANY amp. https://www.creationaudiolabs.com/redeemer
  9. Is the front walnut too? a really beautiful bass, anyhow...
  10. What input impedance on this one? Would you place in the beginning of the pedal chain or in the end? I have J-Retro Deluxe in two of my basses, so I am familiar with the tone.
  11. Well, maybe not twins, but Big Brother and Li'l Brother...
  12. An early Christmas greeting from the Family...
  13. I know you had, Cairobill. I know you had. These basses are gorgeous! There seems to be a lot of different knob configurations. My first and second hav volume, volume, tone, the third had 2 band eq, and the fourth has balance, volume, tone.
  14. Wow! This is a really nice bass. 34" scale? What string spacing? Weight? What preamp/controls? Do my eyes play me a trick, or is there an XLR connection on the bass? Only sell, or open to trade? //R
  15. This bass looks very nice... I've had a sh*tload of Laklands through the years. The first was a beautiful 55-94, the second a fretless 55-02. Then a third, a fretted 55-02. (One for rounds, one fretless and one with flats...) I also had a US Joe Osborn 5, a US Bob Glaub 4, a Skyline Decade and two Skyline Hollowbodies. The only one I've kept is the fretless 55-02, the absolute favourite of them all. Your bass looks like the real deal, classy. Hadn't I 14 basses in my possession I'd buy it from you. Are you sure you won't keep it? You'll miss it...
  16. My baby: J'78, all original from neck up, with the exception of a refret. It had originally athe weight of a small car; I played the bass from 1982 and forward, causing me a slipped disc on the way. I retired it around 2000, but "revamped" it with a custom ordered body from guitarbuild.co.uk and made it look nearly the way it did when I got it. Do I have to say it sounds and plays fantastic. This is the bass I bring to a deserted island...
  17. This bass is a real beauty! Is it a broad neck?
  18. Bridgehouse, what are the specs for that bass? Scale length? String spacing? What pickup and electronics are in there? Is the fingerboard plain wood, or epoxy treated? It is truly a stunner. I've had a quite a few fretlesses through the years, but tend to go back to my old Skyline 55-02 all the time. I don't know if I've had luck with that one. From what I've heard it is kind of a custom mix instrument, where the US Lakland facility picked the best Skyline neck they had lying around and added to the best ditto body. I've had Warwick, Sleinberger L2, NS Radius, some custom madebasses, but this old Skyline really is the fretless to play for me this far. Anyway - you got a very nice instrument there, had it only had five strings...
  19. I forgot to add my fifth... Super J5 with J-Retro Deluxe. (I've equipped the SJ4 with the same preamp too...)
  20. Once there was a finger ramp, but it is lost long ago... The bass also has had a Roland synth pickup mounted.
  21. This is a really nice bass!!! Pity you are not interested in a trade, considering what I got in my dungeons...
