The first model with 70's placing of the pickups, pick guard and chrome control plate. These are not available anymore... The bass is equipped with a J-Retro Deluxe preamp, but the original circuit on its chrome plate comes with the bass too. This bass has been my go-to bass the last year, and the only reason I sell this one, this beauty, is that my new bass has 37" - 34" scale. The Super J5 has 35" - 32" scale. I have big hands and long reach, so the longer scale suits me better. My other two Super J and P will also be replaced by my new bass, hence the sale. (I keep my super long Dingwall, though...) Comes with its original Dingwall gigbag! Can be shipped on buyer's expense. No trades, please!

The first model with 70's placing of the pickups, and with pick guard and chrome control plate. These are not available anymore... The bass is equipped with a J-Retro Deluxe preamp, but the original circuit on its chrome plate comes with the bass too. Another thing in the package is an additional P-bass pickup and a matching pickguard for P/J conversion. [/url] 32" - 34.25" scale on thos one. Feels like home and sounds like a real 70's Jazz bass due to the placing of the bridge pickup. Dingwall gigbag! Can be shipped on buyer's expense. No trades, please!

This is the real deal, a Canadian modern interpretation of the all time classic. It feels, sounds and plays like the P-bass it is. Just with fan frets. How does it feel? Well, I'd say: You feel at home, very short starting distance! The scale is 32" - 34.25" from G to E, making it a medium to long scale bass. Equipped with the first generation 16-step Stellartone Tonestyler tone switch: the best aftermarket update for any P-bass. Today's model is only 10 steps. The original Dingwall two way tone pot comes with the deal. You can use whatever string brand/type you are used to, no need for fan fret strings! It has rounds, but I ship the bass with two sets of flats cut for the bass Delivered in a Dingwall gigbag. More pic's on demand. Can be shipped on buyer's expense. No trades, please!

Well, then you can have a glance at my Super J's... I think I make the ads today...

I got a super J5 but no P5... This one does both, but has the longer 37" scale that I prefer. The longer scale makes difference, a difference that appeals to me. My SJ4, SJ5 and SP4 will be up for sale after Midsummer holiday. I keep my 37" Dingwall, though. Need to clean out the closet a bit. I tend to grab one bass most of the time, my SJ5, and as second my SP4 for our Elvis shows, but this one will do both. My SJ4 is more or less a wall warmer now, when I have my old '78 Fender Jazz in playable condition. That is the bass to measure all others against, the one that follows me to a deserted island... Understand me correctly, the Super p and J's are super nice and fantastic instruments, BMW and Mercedes, kind of, the Payson is Subaru. But my preferences say 37", and PJ, that fills all the holes...

Some words after a day with the new bass, the Payson Supercharger PJ... Those hidden fret tangs are very, very... smooth. This is the first bass ever I didn't have to do a setup on, other than lower the bridge pickup's treble side a tad. It was almost completely in tune after the trip over the Atlantic. Perfect action, neck relief, intonation! I want the neck to be as straight as possible: it was! I want the saddle to be just a tiny little bit higher than the frets: it was! (Why should it be any other way?) The outer strings line perfect along the edge of the neck, with enough margin, no more, no less. That makes a very comfortable neck that ain't too big. No dead spots! No string buzz, unless I dig in and really make it buzz. Comfortable asymmetrical shape of the neck, nice width at the nut! No big ugly Mickey Mouse ears, but smooth "mini mouse" ears that match the somewhat smaller but very sturdy headstock. It is designed not to be broken when you club an ox... The body shape feels familiar and place the bass in the right position. Maybe the belly cut could have been a bit more generous for seasoned and mature players, but that's no big deal. ;) Big, chunky knobs made for walk... sorry, grabbing and twisting! They could even have been a tad bigger with that old bakelite phone feel... The tone, then... Big, full, clean, whatever you play comes out. My wife said yesterday evening, that it sounds like a classical instrument in the way it responds to touch. She is a seasoned piano player with a good ear. Want J-bass? Got it! Want P-bass? Got it! Want BASS? H*ll yeah! That low B really fills the room, clear and articulate. This is no Ferrari or Lamborghini; more of a Subaru: poent, comtetent and gets the job done I got some other basses for sale now...

This bass is Just Too Gorgeous!!! Hadn't I already owned a Super J5 (among others) I'd bought it instantly. Just like that. Weren't it for the fact that you are unwilling to ship. And - I've got another thing coming. So unfortunately minus three for me on this beautiful bass. I mean, a dark cherry caramel on a dark chocolate stick: could it be better? Good luck with the sell!

I got a Super P4 too. If you somehow get tired of the Super P5, you can always do a part trade with my Voodoo Prima 6...

Both equipped with J-Retro Deluxe. I couldn't stand a bass with pickup switching. A Jazz Bass has always blendable pickups. Always! No - not the serial mode; I didn't like the mismatch in volume when switching. Don't miss it...

Nothing is for "free", unless the Chinese steal it and copy it... I've been playing Dingwall basses the last three years or so, but really missed the 37" scale in traditional shape. My primary gigging bass now is a SJ5, but I'd really like a fully grown ditto.

Anyone with experience in using contact core strings on a bass with piezo bridge saddles? Will it work , or do ordinary wound strings work better?

What power amp? Class D? They say "Class A/B power supply", but not a word about the power amp. It looks good anyway. What is your opinion about the somewhat unorthodox eq section? Two bands and contour...

I want my H&K-cab to match my Fender Bassman 100T visually too, Not just tone wise. Some handicraft then... Here is the steel grille with the Fender grille cloth glued on... When the glue has hardened, I'll fold and glue the edges. When I was doing the grille job, I also took the chance to make the 100000 miles service. The tower bar was a bit loose, so I took out one of the woofers and tighteted the screws from the inside. All the woofer's screws got tightened too. That was NEEDED! Then I tightened everything else: the screws for the handles, corners, slid rails etc.BTW, here you can see all eight whizzer cones clearly "whizzer cones"... Pictures come with the matching couple.
