i must admit this is where i love my mody, the aguilar pre amp can give me a very decent sound if the sound guy decides to us there own di box, however i normally make a point of at least using my head ( its only an orange terror tho not sure how id feel if i had my ideal thunderverb 200 head. although i do have a mid size pedal board so i can tweak things a bit to get close to my dirt tone. andy

And finally (sorry for the long post/review, it's Sunday, it's pissing down outside, and I have a hangover to work off,) I still use a Farndurk BGX2 for subtle, warm overdrive tones on bluesy type songs. Simple to set up, it has one volume and one tone control and a three way toggle switch to engage different levels of drive. It is also a thing of beauty, hence the pic. I think the overriding issue I have with distortion/overdrive pedals is there is no one-box solution. If, like me, you're in a covers band, the set up you have for bands like RATM or Muse are not going to work for adding a little warm tube sound to a ZZ Top track. Does this make any sense? Anyway, for now it's the Rodenberg… but that might change. love the sound of the darkglass, the nolly bass cam vid the sound is killer! but i just cant warrant the money, although i have just grabbed a harmonic booster from darkglass. i use a mesa flux drive and love it! andy

the boss md-2 mega distortion is a a nice drive on bass, for a light overdrive its best to use it sparingly as it can get a bit crazy but with the bass and trable controls it allows you to keep a bit of bottom end. andy

Boss tu-3 does this, never had a problem at all with it on my rig. Its not true bypass but tbh i really dnt worry to much about all that, the buffer in the pedal is good and ive never noticed an adverse effect

Used to love my db750 and 610hlf combo such a nice tone, when i got it i a/b'd it with a svt and it killed it!

in descussions with limelight about making a custom 75 j bass heavy relic, early ish next year. :-) andy

this is the annoying thing when you'll spend ages getting it to sound near as dam it to his sound and then no one will notice! but pretty sure ive scene guys getting close using a big muff and the digitech bass synth wah andy

sadly an alleva coppolo is a tad out of my price range, i know in a ideal world i would have it wear naturally but there really is something i love about the really beaten up look. i am doing the natural ageing with my mody. andy i mean damn thats sexy!

i would grab a 8 ohm cab, i really doubt you'll notice a massive drop in volume also the hydrive cabs really are nice but honestly go and try a few cabs but the standard is normally a 410 8 ohm should be able to grab a hartke, ampeg or ashdown for that budget easily or maybe a gk all gd cabs just with a slightly different flavour. andy

hi guys im starting to do some research in to my next bass, and ive decided i wanna go down the route of a old relic styled guitar but something a bit more savage than the fender roadworn series, so it looks proper beat up. i realise this will bring out the haters, ie you should age it naturally (which i am doing with my mody) but its a look that i think looks awesome and would fit my band aswell! looking for a 4 string, ideally a fender style bass preferably active humbucker or jazz. any ideas? andy

i can kinda see where he's coming from 6 months is to long to be waiting for a cab that costs as much as a barefaced? the waiting time and price put me of getting a dubster or big baby a year or so ago as i needed a cab. even if alex is a nice guy (he is i have had a quick chat about what would be best for me when i considered going bf) the waiting time seems to be a big problem thats not totally be addressed you wouldnt wait 6 months for any other bass cab would you? andy

i love the swollen pickle! big fat fuzz with loads of bottom! although i do have a tarkin fuzz on the way soon! andy

[/quote] thats solid advice, guitarists dnt normally like to eq, if they can t hear themselves they turn up, but my band had a practice session where we spent time on the guitar sounds so we have a treble heavy gritty guitar a mid heavy rounded guitar and my bass which kinda glues those two sounds together. took a bit of time to sort it but sounds a lot better. also and i found this out in the studio, a sound you think sounds awesome alone wont sound anywhere near as good in a band mix. also is there anyway of taking your amp each time? then you have a constant bass sound as ebs to ampeg although both awesome wnt sound the same . andy

my fav fuzz is still the swollen pickle, at atleast half the price, does sound nice tho have to admit andy
