have you given these guys a go? http://www.thedecalshop.co.uk/
That is brilliant mate, thank you!!

Cheers. The finish has been done to a very high standard, it's just tantalizing to think what may lie beneath! There's a bit of buckle rash on the back, but otherwise the finish is in great shape.

I was just wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction for getting a headstock logo custom made. I am considering getting my bass restored to its normal finish, which would involve destroying the logo that is currently on there. Getting a replacement from the manufacturer is not really an option at the moment, so I'm open to all suggestions. Cheers, Matt

Well, I was very sad to see my Black Wal 4 string go, but practicality was dictating that I needed a five string, so I had to part with it. By some great stroke of fortune, I have managed to replace it with something strikingly similar, but with the extra string I was looking for The conundrum with which I am now faced is whether or not I should attempt to have it returned to its former, schedua-faced glory, or keep it as it is (which wouldn't exactly break my heart). This was refinished in black poly in the mid nineties, you see. I would have to sort a logo from somewhere, seeing as getting one from Wal isn't really a possibilty at at the moment. Does anybody know of a place that could make me up a high quality water-slide transfer? I emailed (and then phoned) Sims custom. After waiting and receiving no response I can only assume that they're not especially interested in helping me out, so I'd rather use someone else. This is a smashing bass, and I'm chuffed to bits. Now I'm off to try and get to grips with that extra string (3rd time lucky?!). Matt
Thanks Lads. I think I'll be staying with the DR's. I get them from the States for $24.95 (£12.50) but with the extras you pay they work out a bit more. The only trouble is the last time I orderd them they took nearly a month to arrive.
Can I ask where you order yours from, Steve?

I've been looking with interest at the strings on the Status website. I notice that they do a round core version of their "Hotwires" string. Since switching to DR Hi Beams a few years ago I find all other strings lacking in feel, but am wondering if these might be a good, cheaper alternative? Has anybody tried these? Even better, if you have tried both, how do you reckon they compare to the DR's? Matt

If not then I'll buy it.... (only kidding!)

Can't you get them to hold it with a deposit? Most shops will do this for you.

LOL! I know where this is, but I'm not telling... ;-) Mate, you want to pick this up as soon as you can or someone on here will nab it! Can't you show your parents this thread to help convince them to lend you the dough? It'd be a shame to pass this one up.

I love the finish on that Traben! That dingwall is fuelling my 5 string GAS as well, damn you!

I had a similar problem with my Sei, not deadspots, but a very lifeless, boomy tone. I put this down mainly to the Barts and Schack pre. I loved the neck profile though, it was incredibly comfortable. I'm sure yours will be killer when you get it back.

I might be wrong, but doesn't he use a shorter scale tenor bass for that tuning?

Hi all, sorry for the delay in responding to the last few posts - I broke my right hand on tuesday, and I can only just about bear to use it for typing! I think I might be able to get playing soon-ish, although it depends on what they do to me at the fracture clinic tomorrow. I can still manage fingerstyle if I play very lightly - slap style is more painfull though :-( Just to confirm the fingerboard is Indian ebony, the Headstock is black with white Wal logo. Considering a few different trades at the moment, but am still open to all offers. I'll attempt some more photography when I can operate a camera half decently! Andy: Status aren't quite my thing, but if I decide just to sell the Wal I'll let you know. nig: I've already owned a couple of G&L`s (wonderful basses!), but I fancy something different this time, sorry.

Sorry for not posting sooner. Owen, I definitely don't want a 36" scale, although that Overwater is a bit of a beast! Surprised you would be willing to part with that one! I was really hoping someone would come forth with a Wal 5'er or a Sadowsky, although I've been offered some really cool basses. Anybody else interested?

I use an Eden 210sxt rated at 4 ohms, it's fabby!

I've sold them through the shop I work for, and I really rate them for the money. Great, smooth, modern tones - and generally reliable in my experience. Seem to have good headroom too.

If anybody can tell me who played bass on The Pointer Sister's "How Long (Betcha Gotta Chick on The Side)", I would love to know. That's some seriously great playing, in my humble. :-)
Hi, I have a MM Stingray 5 for sale, if you are interested.
Would prefer something with 2 pups preferably, but I do love Rays.
How about a black Status/Trace Elliot T Bass 5 String plus some cash?
Unsure about this, what's the neck like?
I have an immaculate through neck, Thumb V with MEC electrics I may consider parting with.... (?)
I had a thumb and loved it, but I would prefer a 34" scale length. Thanks again for all your interest guys! I'm in the process of answering all your pm's, please bear with me. Matt :-)
