1. I guess it depends on what you are selling, if I have something that I want a minimum price for, then I list that as a starting price, if it doesn't sell then it stays with me, other stuff I list at a 99p starting price and, as mentioned above, let it find it's own value, most items reach what I hoped, occasionally something will make more, my worst one was a Peavey Firebass head and 2 Blackwidow loaded 1x15 cabs that only made £220.00 the guy that won it said it was the best bargain he ever got, I hope he still has backache from moving the bloody thing!
2. That is sooooo lovely
3. A friend of mine has brought a couple of twin neck guitar / bass kits, they actually play reasonably well, he came to me to wire them up.....total nightmare...ended up with both necks on at the same time or off at the same time...I couldn't get my head round 3 selector switches in the system!
4. The Peavey's should be very reliable but we had a set of Hysis 2's and had real problems with feedback, I then picked up a set of Martin CS2's....ok the Martin's new were far more expensive but used I gave £150.00 for the pair, sold the Peavey's for £180.00....£30.00 up on the deal and now with Martin Audio gear our sound is much better without the feedback problems we got with the Peaveys'
5. For me, nothing more than one I enjoy doing....if I am not enjoying it I doubt I am gaining anything from it
6. The pictures are back panic over, I rubbed the screen really hard and they appeared!
7. I have a feeling it was a Daphine Blue which was a standard Fender Colour, I think you can still get a Squier Vintage Modified Strat in Daphine Blue, it's years since I last saw that video, think I still have it on an old VHS cassette somewhere
8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Satelite-bass-guitar-70s-or-80s-/221743263405?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item33a0edaead Err no the decal is not visible, nor is the bass, in fact only the piece of kitchen roll it was sat on is still visible! Maybe it is an invisible bass?
9. Bass bash = the standard of most relics currently offered on Evilbay
10. Hi Adee, You still got the bass on offer? Rog
11. I have the Classic 4 in White, it is badly built, difficult to set up well and no doubt won't last too long....however, you can set them up, they sound really good for the money, they look fantastic and it is smile on your face bass playing, the controls are as sensible as the Gretsch's they seek to emulate....I really like mine and am more likely to gig it than my Warwick.....go for it, don't expect steller build quality and you won't go far wrong
12. I would like to add a different slant to this thread, we gigged the other weekend at a proper little venue, the DJ wanted to stream our set live to the tinterweb thingy, anyway we went on a played a blinder, the DJ came round afterwards and said he had been unable to stream the set because as soon as we went onstage the wifi went down and didn't come back until we had finished..... he asked if anyone had used a digital wireless system.....it turns out I was blocking the wifi for the entire set!!
13. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-PRECISION-BASS-Guitar-All-Set-Nice-Player-/291420633709?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43da05fa6d This one worries me a little, I read somewhere that a genuine Fender neck with truss rod adjustment at the headstock will always have some kind of inlay in the truss rod hole, it that is correct then this is not a genuine Fender neck! Any thoughts?
14.
OK ;-) This why I am constantly surprised that musicians who own or have owned custom or high-end basses can't see that one bass is not any kind of substitute for another at anything other than the very cheap end of the Fender copy market (and perhaps not even then). In the high-end and custom instrument market there is no "best bass". There might be basses that are more suitable for you and basses that offer better value for money to you, but ultimately it's all subjective and dependent upon how much disposable cash a particular person has available to buy musical instruments.
This is so true, I own a good few Precisions of different eras and countries of origin, each is entirely different to the others, none are better or worse, just different, they are all worth what I paid for them because I could afford them and liked them enough to add them to the family
15. Just looking at the listing again, it was sold for the £1200 asking price which has got him a negative feedback from the newish buyer, just saying "Fake Bass" it just goes to show, if in doubt...get it on here and we can tell you if it's an obvious wrong un!
16. You bad man...you...just when I was talking to the good lady wife about selling off the Warwicks and Stingrays and buying a YOB Precision, she had half talked me out of it then you go and post this just to tease me......beautiful bass GLWTS
17. I have the Stage Clix system that plugs directly into the bass, it has been totally faultless other than some problems with interference when using some active basses which I fixed by building a small link lead that moved the transmitter away from the actives of the bass, sorry the OP has had issues with theirs
18. Kitting out our new van on the morning before going off to play the biggest gig we had ever played I managed to smash my left thumb with a hammer...claret everywhere, spent the next few hours with it stuck in ice, amazingly managed to play the gig without any problem, my thumb nail fell off a couple of days later.....roll forward a good few years and three days before another big gig, I shut my right thumb in a car door with much the same results as the first time...in the run up to any big gigs nowadays i wear boxing gloves for the whole week preceeding the gig
19. The bridge is wrong, the truss rod is wrong the seller is wrong...nuff said!
20. If people you respect as musicians are telling you "you are doing well" then bask in their compliments, start believing them and you will be an even more accomplished player in no time at all. My big moment was when a guitarist I really respected asked me to play on a recording session for him in place of the usual pro session bass player he had used before.....that was a massive boost to my ego.....turned out some years later that said pro session man was actually away on tour when the recording was happening...still I had bigged myself up by that point and never looked back...to this day I am far better than that bloke and nowhere near as good as another bloke
21. Awesome, I love Elites, just ordered two lots, that will keep me in new strings for a while, cheers for the tip off!
22. You get days where your mind is just not on the game, i usually realise it after the first song I play, I just put the bass down and walk away, come back to it the following day....if i keep playing I won't get through it I will just get the hump and dent my confidence for a few days
23. I use DeOxit, it is fantastic stuff...i read somewhere a top guitar tech was asked "if you were only allowed one bit of kit, what would it be" he replied instantly "DeOxit" it's not cheap but I have had my can for about 5 or 6 years so on a yearly investment about £1.50 a year it's not bad value
24. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-57-Reissue-P-Bass-White-Blonde-Precision-Bass-/111628043469?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19fd8cc4cd Just come across the above....how many points can you spot that says this is probably not a 57 reissue bass! So relisted due to crazy person or relisted because the original buyer got someone with a bit of knowledge to look at the pictures and decided not to lose a shed load of money on some dubious Fender(ish) parts. At a guess, possibly a standard mexican neck with 70's logo applied, possibly a Mexican 50's clasic body as it lacks the bridge cover holes but appears to have the right scratchplate and looks to be ok for the blonde finish they had, black plastic gasket on the neck plate is wrong, knobs are wrong, finger rest is wrong! I would report it but Ebay won't do anything about it
25. Mine has standard Dimarzio super distortion pickups fitted, it is a beast of a guitar, it's as well built as any guitar I have ever played, certainly worth saving and, if still fitted with the original pickups they will continue to gain value
