1.
I think the problem with this situation for me is that I can see both sides of the argument. However, there are several dealers on here and ebay (I mean on both, not one or the other), who do the same thing but less openly, and they rarely get flack for it (often because we don't realise they're one ond the same person or because it's the same bass at twice the price). Furthermore, selling for profit is not against forum rules and is, in these difficult times, simply common sense, so whatever we think, we perhaps shouldn't really complain? Thirdly, I'm guessing that had it been listed on ebay alone (as suggested above) several folk would have said "why didn't you list it on BC so we could get our hands on it". I guess GP can't really win here. There's no doubt the bass is worth the asking price and on that basis he's perfectly entitled to ask it. I've sold basses way below value on here before and seen them sold (in one case) at over 200% profit on ebay, and once at around 150% profit on BC, and within a few weeks of my selling it. However, if I choose to sell at a competitive price this will happen - let's face it I'm usually selling at a competitve price to fund another competitively-priced bass and therefore usually need a quick sale, so it's kind of circular.
I compleatly agree with the above, but one thing with regard Fender basses, is that they seem to hold and command high prices for c/s or vintage, and ols jv squires. Personally i would not sell a fender like this at a giveaway unless it was for something that was equally a giveaway and that would be as easy and respected as the fender to be able to sell on for a price that can recoup some of the loss that i made in the Fender. If you keep losing money then a 3k bass will turn into a £500 bass in the end, unless of course the bank balance is not a problem. Personally i would feel bad to take such a financial hit, and would let the other bass go unless it was a real steal in itself. I guess when i sell something, im happy to sell it for that price, and walk away thinking good luck to the new owner and what they wish to do with it.
 2.
I still struggle to see what significant difference maple or rosewood makes to the tone on a fretted bass. The string never touches the fretboard...!
Its the resonance of the basses woods that create the tone. Tone woods etc. If your theory is right 4 bass strings mounted to a cricket bat with frets and jazz p/us will sound the same as a fender jazz! Lets hope not!
 3.
Lovely Van Der End! I usually prefer maple too. I have three MIJ Ibanez ATK's, an MIJ '75 RI Jazz and an Ellio Martina Forza 5 with maple boards. My only exceptions are my fretless Sandberg Bullet 5, my Rickenbacker 4003 and my G&L SB-2. I've been playing that '75 RI Jazz most of the time during the last two months, and love it to death!
i do too as the slap sound is a little brighter. Heres mine.
 4. i have this. and the recording quality and fx are fantastic. In the past i had a korg costing £1500 and this walks over it. As far as the drums go, i dont use them, as i have other means, but for demos, voclas, guitars if you learn how to use it properly, it is exellent, and as it has mastering, the finished mix sounds great! As an owner i would recomend this. PMT are giving this away, i got one at this price, and very pleased with the results. BAsically, it will not color or change the input, so what you put in will come out as long as levels, fx and conpession is under control.
 5.
Sorry it's not in my habit to post comments in the for sale thread but... if you want to make a profit (not that there's anything wrong with it), why put the bass for sale on the very same board you bought it on, just a few weeks later? I've had basses that I sold below their value cause I wanted a quick sale, and then later the new owner tried to make a profit on it... that's ok in my book, but at least they had the decency of selling it via another channel, like ebay or through a shop. I totally empathize with the original owner here...
Of course you are entitled to your veiw, but he needed a quick sale, i dont. If the bass was way overpriced for what it is, then i can understand, but to sell it for its worth its fine. If this bass was priced at £1600 on this board i would have paid it, as i want it. Its not about decency, but if i wish to sell this, i will not cut out fellow bass chat menbers from having the chance to own such a rare and such a class bass cos i wish to make a profit. They should also be able to have a chance to own it. Anyway its not about profit, but getting the true value for this fine bass, which i will say again, is not for sale at this time, due to the sheer future value potential, and that quite frankly there is nothing to touch it IMO. Just for the record i just had a convo with masons and they estimate it at around £2200 and would offer on a px £1600 or there abouts. Thanks Rich.
 6.
Yawn....... I know a rip off merchant when I see one !!!
The only one that must have lost out was yourself for selling such a fine bass at £1000 when they are were retailing for £2600 and more and now its as rare as hens teeth-already!!. If you can afford to lose £1100 on a new limited 100 run cs that is clearly worth at least £1800 then thats up to you, I have not even seen one of these trading elsewhere but the us and thats at $3800 and thats after fenders retail cut from $5000. there is no need to be bitter when someone has this bass and wants its rightful price for it and can get it no problem. :Like that you can moan about all the old wals fenders that cost a fraction of what they are worth now, and being exchanged at £2000 plus. If i ever decide to sell this bass then it will sell for its rightful price, and quite frakly Marcus, its none of your buismess any more. You sold it for a low low price, but that does not mean that i will do the same, but as long as your happy with your £1000 thats just fine, there is no way on earth that i would sell this for the price of a standard us jazz, when it is so much more special than that! . but right now i dont need to nor wish to sell this baby. If you have such a big problem then pm an administator and see what they will say. But as already stated, this is withdrawn due to advice that tis will keep going up in value. THe whole problem is that you sold this way too cheap and now expect others to take the same hit........sorry mate, not going to happen. If this bass is going to trade, then it will trade at a price that it desrves, and nothing less. Rich. A grand.........do me a favor!!
 7. HI chaps, This bass is now being withdrawn. I was working with it today, and it is just the best that i have ever had, and that includes an original 1975 jazz! I have had many basses but this tops them all. At the studio today, it recived 3 comments from others to the sound and looks of it, Today, i talked to a few dealers and they say limited Fender c/s runs of 100 will only go up in value, and they estimate it to be worth around £2000+ at this stage, even though its not a sellers market, and may not sell at this price at this time, i was advised not to sell it, as the future value potential is very strong on any L/E C/S fender guitar. Andys said they have buyers if i wish to sell. Fender specialist dealers also said that the bass will at this stage be worth more than the original price due to 100 only ever made.(bass centre said £2400) I paid £1000 for it, and the seller told me he had many offers that night, just i was first! The price was very very low for such a rare bass, Nope, i will keep this beutiful bass, and enjoy it rather than pass it on again. I did accually buy it with half an intent to move it on at a profit as the potential to make good profit on this is there, i did tell that to the seller (who knew this was a steal), who is a great guy and cool with it, But i just fell in love with it, and i guess had a silly moment about selling it. When the offers came in, i turned them down-no way could i part from this baby! (for less than 2k anyway!) Im sure if i wish to sell it i will have no trouble, buti will regreat it, and im not going to make that mistake. Its not every day you get a fender c/s limited run bass for the price of a 09 standard jazz!! I dont consider this board my doorstep, but a place to enjoy to buy and sell, If someone is happy to accept £1000 for this, thats fine, but i would never sell this less than £1600, and now on advice, wont sell it for that even, and not for a while yet. It needs a home, rather than being flipped around at low prices, and a home it has found!! It is a very special Jazz with a stunning neck, and the ash body is just stunning. i personally have never played or seen a fender of this quality before, and i know i will regreat selling such a wonderful instrument. Not to mention the fender custom shop treatment and candy that it came with, and thanks to the care the previous owners gave it, it is in presitne condition, and when you show it to people, it has the wow factor!! From what i can see, only one is available to buy in the us at $3800. I think the dealers are right, it will keep going up, but more so, it will become sought after in a few years. Till then, i will keep it, play it and enjoy. This is fender at its very best! Thanks to the original owner for letting this baby go at an amazingly low low price, i now have it. I will say this though if the last owner said £1600 i would have still snapped it up purley for what it is A certified Fender limited run of 100 ever to be made, custom shop 1970 jazz bass.
 8.
'If' you get offered a 4 string Sadowsky that you need to move on (heaven forbid ) then I am in the market for one!
Ha ha ello mate! i have never played a sadaowssky, so have no idea what they are like! hope you find your one though!
 9.
Rich you have a text!
Ha ha yes i did thank you, will email pics tomorrow, thats the 2nd sadowsky i have been offered in ten mins! i will say the same, would be looking for a cash adjustment, but to be honest would like a nice overwater or something like that. I will try and check out a sadowsky local if possible though. Thanks Rich.
 10.
???????? sorry did i miss something
Given the availability and quality of this stunning c/s fender jazz bass. Now im not going to get into any exchanges over the price, and yes i piad £1000 for it on a fast sale, so i got a good buy. ;-) but this is worth every penney of £1600.(IMO) Any comments that have nothing to do with the sale, please PM them. Thanks, Rich.
 11.
I've got one of these and they are dead good. The sound is, for want of a better description, BIG. Blows the socks of a Musicman - if you like that sort of thing
i agree, much more oooph than a MM, good slap tone without the glass. Best MM iv heard is a bongo.
 12. Never played one, but i cant see how any manufacturer can justify 5k + on a bass. No bass can trully be that expensive in materials unless made of gold?? 2k Is the max i would pay for a brand new bass, and whatever for a vintage fender. But good luck to thoses that have them, and can afford them. I would worry about gigging my CSFender jazz (100 made) let alone a 6k bass no matter how good it sounds.
 13. They are great guitars (i had one) and personally i would keep it original rather than restore it, unless its for your self, Rich.
 14.
I'm wrong on a regular basis but I'd be amazed if 'Psittacus erithacus' didn't now have this in his ever-expanding collection.
Ha ha like it! I only have 2 basses this zebrano and a 1970s cs jazz! Just move basses about alot, but the jazz is a keeper for now anyway!
 15.
Loving that buckeye burl top
Im a big fan of spectors, having had a NS5 XL water cured job, and now a Rebop zebrano, all fantastic quality and amazing sound weather EU made or US. I think these should be given more respect and most who buy one wonder why the hell they never had one before! Good luck with this sale, Rich.
 16. This would have made a great back up bass, i treid one of these ages ago, and the slap switch is cool. Loads of bass and quality even at the full price of £230. shame your so far. Good luck this will fly out im sure, Rich.
 17.
Mine is just under 10lbs I think, they are pretty heavy but I guess that's where some of that big old tone comes from Sorry - forgot to ask. Does the neck have a gloss finish - that's different from the US models? Don't suppose you need an Epifani UL310 by any chance, lol. . .
From what i know they are the same bass, just assembled in Chez. Same preamp, and sound and finish. Just cheaper labour.
 18. The tread stater and i have agreed a deal on this bass subject to trying etc. Regards, Rich.
 19.
Hello all, thanks for having a gander. Im selling this lovely bass to fund another 5 string. It's never been used for gigging; only the odd practice in my room. I bought this with the intention of modding it into a 6-string, but i've had a change of heart. £140 Ruairidh.
Where abouts you based mate? Regards, Rich.
 20. UP FOR TRADES LOOKING FOR AN AS NEW LAKELAND JAZZ 4 PREF 5 STRING FENDER JAZZ 4-5 USA SEI 4-5 STATUS 4-5 SANDBERG JAZZ 4-5 STRING. CASH £900 OR ANYTHING YOU MAY HAVE TO OFFER WILL HAVE A LOOK! THANKS RICH.
 21.
very tempted
Well im up for it! The warwick is in front of me now on its stand. I have to say it looks and sounds amazing, but i am a fender fan, and i guess i dont really wanna gig my 1970 CS Jazz. so looking for a good gigging fender, and this will fit the bill perfect! Have a think, and a bit of research on my bass. As far as i know only 30 were made. There is a section on this on the warwick website. It has a full 1inch thick zebrano wood layer on it, and this makes for a rich sounding bass. The sales tread for this started by me, is here somewhere but i withdrew it, worth a look at. Rich.
 22.
Hi Funk This bass will be an even better sounding guitar than you tried in Soundcontrol as its a 1998 model which is when Gibson were making there guitars out of the finest Brazilian Hard woods:-) It has an awesome sound have a read of some of the reviews on Harmony Central see link in ad.. Cheers J
How much do you think its worth? are you looking to trade and if so for what? Rich.
 23.
Had a quick plonk on this bass at the Yorkshire Bash and I can vouch for it being a real belter
Pm'd you also the Warwick has a full active bypass so it can be run totally passive, and it sounds very sweet like ths as well, a bit like a super jazz!
 24. REally sorry to hear that ands a dam shame you dont have the serial number for police etc. This may be covered under mu insurance or house contents if you have it. All the best, Rich.
