1. Unfortunately I had to reconsider buying this- GAS got the better of me and I hadn't really thought things through... sorry Sug! I tried one of these heads out whilst on holiday and they do sound terrific- somebody snap this up please!
2. 'Back from holiday' BUMP!
3. Quick 'off on holiday tomorrow' BUMP! I'll check in/answer any PMs when I get back next Tuesday (21st)...
4. I bought this from sk8 back in February this year... and it hasn't even left my flat once! I'm sure that another Shuttle 6.0 owner could make better use of this, plus I wouldn't mind the extra cash to put into my valve head fund! It's boxed and in superb condition, controls the Shuttle's mute and pre-shape functions, and features some nice bright LEDS- what's not to like? ***NOW SOLD, PENDING PAYMENT*** Thanks for looking! 5. PM sent Sug!
6. Hey Mike, I'm glad that you're happy with your new purchase! Where were you playing last night- Zanzibar perhaps? PS: I'm selling the 4-way footswitch from my own Shuttle if you're interested!
7. I've always wanted to try out one of these beasts! How does a potential trade for my Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 (boxed with footswitch) plus cash your way sound?
8. +1. It has to be the Compact in my opinion (I own one)- you've got every other conceivable gigging situation covered with that cab collection! I have previously owned Berg gear, and have heard the AE cabs you're looking at- in terms of sound quality, I think that the Barefaced Compact can hang with those cabs no problem! Would be a great match with your LM3 too...
9. I think it would work no problem- I have a VT Bass and it has more than enough output level to drive a power amp. I've actually been thinking about running a set-up like this today as it happens!
10. Thanks for all the replies people- much appreciated! Guy, I'll be in touch...
11. I tried out a Black Beauty a good few years ago with the Roscoe Beck 5 I had at the time- it sounded brilliant through it! Sadly I had neither the cash to afford it, nor the desire to lift it up 6 flights of stairs to my old student digs... You'll be made up with this when you plug in!
12. What it says in the title! I'm really interested in A/B'ing either one of these fine amps against my Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0, using my Barefaced Compact. Is there anybody out there with either a 700 or 1001 RB-II within, say an hour's drive of Liverpool? I'll bring my setup with me of course, so if anyone's curious about the Compact or the Shuttle they can give them a spin... PM me if you have anything! Thanks, Etienne
13. I'm glad you managed to get this after all Chris- enjoy it!
14. Another +1 for the Trace 1153! I regularly gigged a late-90's (Pre-Gibson) model for several years and loved it... it never let me down once! That Celestion driver could handle a lot more power than its specs would suggest, and it sounded great for pretty much every style of music I play. It turned out to be a great recording cab too, especially with a Bassman valve head! Having owned and gigged my Compact for a while now, I think that overall it's a vast improvement on the Trace in almost every area. Loads more power handling, loads more bottom end, far more balanced tone from top to bottom, better tone at loud gigging volume, much much lighter, smaller and much easier to carry/transport... However, on the downside I must say that although the Compact is built very solidly where it matters, it's let down a bit by the finish, compared to other high-end cabs that I've owned. I ran the Trace for a decade and it still looked great when I eventually sold it, thanks to the tough carpet finish and metal corners. I have my doubts that the Compact will age as gracefully. The painted-on finish is already displaying chips and marks (despite me being very careful with my gear!), and I'm just not a fan of the plastic corners that Alex is using- they are cheap compared to the rest of the components used, and break easily (two of mine have split, although Alex has sent me replacements through). Sorry, this has accidentally turned into a review! Back on topic now... I've briefly owned a pair of Aggie GS112's, and must say that I greatly prefer the sound of a single Compact to a pair of these!
15. I'm glad that this has gone to a good home now- hope you enjoy it Marcus!
16. Unfortunately I've had to reconsider putting the cash down for this now- I'm gutted... This is a lot of bass for the money, especially at this new price- somebody buy this now! Regards and good luck Chris!
17. No word from Mr Redtenbacher as of yet, so this is still available! Now just looking for a cash sale...
18. That's a cool colour- like an old Cadillac! Are you sure you want to sell it?
19. I love happy endings!
20. I can't wait to get my hands on this- it'll be a real change for me from the usual passive Fender-type stuff!
21. I do love Berg gear... I'd be all over this like a fat kid on a fairy cake if only I didn't live on the 2nd floor!
