Just heard the news a short while ago... Currently listening to the Oil On Canvas live album and reminding myself what an amazing player he was- undoubtedly one of the coolest and most instantly-identifiable fretless players ever. RIP.

Another thumbs-up for the 1153 here! I ran a pre-Gibson carpet-covered one for years and loved it- it was my first proper speaker cab, which I bought in '98 as an extension cab for my T-E BLX-130 combo back when I started gigging... When I switched to using heads, I bought a T-E 2103H cab to partner it, but nearly always ended up running the 1153 alone because it sounded better- just wish I knew then what I know now about speakers, as I would have bought a second 1153 instead and saved myself ££££'s over the following decade! I'm now running a pair of Barefaced Compacts which I'm very happy with, but I still think the 1153 is one of the best-sounding 15" cabs around! Really nice round tone, with plenty of top end for my varied tastes- most definitely not dark-sounding! I ran it pretty hard for the many years I owned it and it handled whatever I threw at it with aplomb. I eventually sold it along with the virtually-unused 2103H to another bass-playing mate of mine a couple of years back, who managed to fry the stock Celestions in both cabs within weeks... On that subject, did you replace the driver in your 1153 Count Bassie? Looks like you've got an Eminence 3015 (as fitted in the Compact) in it now... P.S. WHY am I on here writing this at this hour on Xmas Eve?!?! Haven't even finished writing my Xmas cards yet, ha ha!

Paul bought my Sadowsky preamp yesterday, and just took delivery of it this morning. I found him to be a straightforward and honest chap to deal with. Good communication (pretty much all conducted via text) and no-hassle payment. I recommend this fellow highly! Thanks mate, Etienne
Good luck with the sale. I too had one for a while but prefer a BDDI for some reason.
Thanks Dave! I've fallen in love with the BDDI all over again, after trying some new settings that work really well for my current sound... PS Have just re-edited the trades in the 1st post to justify the bump...

Hi folks, I bought this from BC's very own Platypus back in May this year- it's a lovely bit of kit and works great, but after living with it for a while I've decided to go back to my trusty Sansamp BDDI for gigs, and I can't justify keeping this only for the occasional recording session... I've really looked after this whilst I've owned it, so it's still in A1 condition inside and out- all controls and functions work perfectly! I'll be packing this up really well to post it too, so it should reach its new owner in the same condition... Comes with the original box and instructions sheet, plus a 9V Duracell to get you started. ***EDIT: NOW SOLD*** Please check out my feedback and PM me if interested- thanks for looking!
Sold Etienne a pickup, very smooth transaction and very fast payment pleasure to deal with.
Thanks Callum! Can't believe I'm on my third page of feedback! I think I may have a small problem with GAS...

I also bought an Nordstrand NP4 pickup from Callum. Again, a nice straightforward and rapid deal (paid him yesterday morning, he posted the pickup in the afternoon, and it arrived at lunchtime today!), and I'm very happy with the goods! Thanks mate! Etienne

My solution to the over-bright lights on my old Shuttle 6.0 (now Rich's) was to press tiny blobs of Blu-tack over the LEDs- worked a treat! They still let enough light through to see what functions are working, are easy to remove and don't mess up the look of the amp if you're careful putting them on...

Great work CK, really enjoyed that! Hopefully more of the same in the not-too-distant future...
I have taken this advice and put the precision neck on the dark star bass.. feels pretty good, going to try it at rehearsal this eve and see how it works.. SO the goldish coloured p body is now avalable with the jazz neck on it, looks pretty good too!
Good call my man! Hope it works out... -
I'm in the same boat- would love to get this, but no spare cash either! I owned the 300W version for ages, and it really was great- I shouldn't have sold it... The design and build quality of these amps is fantastic, and they're very reliable too IME- I did plenty of gigs with my old LM300, driving it hard at both 4 and 8ohms, and it lapped it up... not even so much as a blown fuse in 5 years! Good luck with the sale mate!

Duncan just took delivery of my Jazz bass body- another nice and easy transaction completed on BC! As with pretty much everyone I've dealt with on here, great comms throughout and prompt payment too... Don't forget to show us some pictures of the project when it's finished mate! Etienne

I own and regularly gig a 1001RB-II, but haven't heard or played through either the Aggie or the Orange (yet). Yes, the G-K can do bright tones if you want, but it's by no means a one-trick pony! There's serious amounts of midrange punch and bottom end in there too should you desire- IMO it's by far the most versatile amp I've gigged with. What I will say is that it's well worth reading the manual (available online) before trying one out for the first time, in order to understand how to get the best out of it. IME, knowing how the Volume (gain), Contour, Boost and Master controls all interact is crucial to getting a good tone. Once you're clued up though, it's fantastic! The 4-band active EQ is very flexible and covers a lot of ground- I personally find I don't need to use it that much though, as the basic sound is pretty much right on the money! Hope this helps, Et
