1.
Finally tracked down the one I've got. It really is brilliant, as it uses a ball joint to change angle. http://www.swstrings...s/cello/GP-EPCG
cool never seen one of them before
2. Measure up your the end of your endpin and have a look down BnQ or some hardware store for rubber door stop bungs and find one slightly smaller you can always bore the hole out bigger if needed. http://www.doorfurnituredirect.co.uk/scpro/bernards/productdetailsmore~productid~7233.htm?gclid=COXj64PF87kCFWfMtAodXTMAVg you could always use a cello floor protector http://www.thestringzone.co.uk/accessories-cello-end-pin-anchors-floor-protectors-viva-la-musica-cello-spike-rest
3. Was trawling around on the net as you do and came across this, fitted in nicely with my current mood so heres to sharing. Great horn work as usual, with the ever present backbone of the band thumping allong in the background.
4. Poor packaging and transit damage, light soft bendy box and strings up to tension so would only take a good bounce to get the crackle pop of wood breaking. majority of other companies ive brought kit from have generally come well packaged.
5. Ive brought multiple items from Thomman over the last 8 months or so and havent had any problems, though i did have to change one item and it was sorted out with 2 emails in one day . one 3/4 double bass bag and a few bits n bobs came decently packaged. Only bad side was my end with pickup, pain in the arse when delivery companies wont follow basic instructions.
6. I have as a backup to my Wolf ball http://www.thestring...ello-spike-rest Gives a nice wide foot for the bass to rest in and on the surface of whatever
7. I foolishly brought a EUB from G4M came with a free broken neck, on the plus side it was cleared up for a full refund and a free VIP membership..which i have not used. I do suppose it would be good for a unique fixer upper opportunity spexcially if this winter turns savage.
8. Hehe that one of your mate made me chuckle. shame to let the bass go, id keep it if your able. Sell the telly much better idea uhh the black market is thataway
9. Ive noticed ive become rather protective of my bass. Bus driver closed the doors on my bass once before i could fully mount the vehicle, almost put the boot into the bus doors.
10. im using a cheapish wooden bow, its still straight and holds taught. Im guessing its horses for courses. If you can find someone nearby who would allow you to use one it would probably be best.
11. Bookmarked and due to be eyeballed after i go to tutor tomorra
12. Probably a little more than sending a set of strings but if it costs me £9 to send a book to Australia it bloody well better not cost more than a fiver to send something inside this rock of a island.
13. Seeing as im starting to amass a fair few books why not. its alway good to get a loan of a copy of something before you want to buy it.
14. dont need to splurg on the foam padding..it comes in the case
15. It looks like i have another few books to buy . Yes i have flicked through them but as im still learning to read some of it boggles my mind. But most importantly im getting there and thats all that matters to me.
16. still working on the Belwin series but im supplementing them with Ray Brown Just to allow my wife the sound of something different to twinkle twinkle tiny star
17. Ray Brown's Bass method The Evolving Bassist Rufus Reid Suzuki Double bass Belwin string builder 1-3 Steven Mooney walking Jazz bass lines triple pack these are the ones i can see at the moment.(feeling lazy on sunday afternoon)
18. Since i have decided to learn how to both read and play music on the double bass i have collected in just a few months 12 books. All on recommendations from people on the forums, I swear im going to have to build a new bookcase before december at this rate hope there aint any joiners here. To accompany the books ive also amassed a larger collection of music, guess that means i can justify a new 64gb memory card for my phone. Anyone else have this problem? Glad im buying a house soon with a shed/doghouse/place for me and the bass.
19. I say that bass looks familiar Good tune plenty of bounce.
20.
*Reminds me of the old Richie Benuad quote "There's only three things wrong with English cricket, they can't bat, they can't bowl, and they can't field"
He said of his mother, "She improved my love of vegetables by introducing the phrase, 'You can't go out and play cricket until you have eaten all your vegetables." Wise words from Richie Take heart mate, even my wife has said im getting better after just a few months of learning. although i am far from any form of performance
21. Better call Mark D Phillips (Master Bodger)
22. I know it sounds bizzare, but i had a spike tip cover rubber stopper bitty which looked like a doorstop plug, turned it into a cat toy after it got busted Recently replaced it with a Wolf Cello endpin stopper aye the funky round one. Also picked up one of these for a few quid if you want the pin pointy and free. Welcome to the Forums mate, Plenty of good advice and knowledge on here and plenty of good well mannered helpful people.
23. Though i am still learning the basics my tute knows i have no intention as yet to follow the grading process. He teaches for the most part classical and traditional styles, but seems alright with the whole not doing exams
