1. Always loved the guy. I know people will say he was the pin up boy etc and his early bass was played by Jones etc even later on Sandanista by Norman Watts. It still remains The Clash had great songs and bass lines in which Simonon grealty contributed. Really great simple repetitive stuff. He has always made me feel that "complicated" bass just isn't needed. Especially when you have a guitarist as talented as Mick Jones! OK, I'm a biased Clash fan!
2.
That's a thing of beauty alright - an SG1000/2000 is pretty much my dream guitar. Unfortunately the money to buy one is also a dream. GLWTS! Jon.
We could half on it and I get it for the first 25 years? It will be worth a fortune then! Its a win win for you
3. Great guitars these. A mate has the SG2000 from the early 80's (I think) but there's little difference. Blows the Gibson Les Paul out of the water. If I had the loot, this would be living with me permanently. GLWTS.
4. If it's half as nice as the RW Precision I just got from Karl, it will be a great bass!
5.
Judging by this pic it seems as if he's a bike 'improver' as well, checkout that sidecar! I cant believe you found that! Perhaps he is responsible for Rog2611's previous offering too? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HOT-ROD-RAT-ROD-CUSTOM-CAR-/181974651414?hash=item2a5e88d216:g:gQIAAOSw1S9WgRWl
6. There are some very interesting descriptions and mods in his other items too.
7. Once auditioned a drummer who said all the right things. Before the audition we went and picked his kit up. Carried it all up the attic steps. He set it all up. That's when we discovered he had never played drums before. He didn't know it would be that hard apparently. Why he had a kit i will never know. Our guitarist told him to go away and practice really hard for 6 months and get back to us. I felt like throwing him down the attic steps with his kit behind him!
8. Been talking with Karlfer tonight and he mentioned how good this bass sounded. Wish I had the cash...
9. Just bought Karl's wonderful RW Precision. Just as described and plays very well indeed. He even brought it round to mine! The fastest deal in the North West. Lovely chap and a pleasure to deal with. Have no reservations. Thanks again Karl. Cheers Dunc
10. Great little lightweight head. Weighs nothing but sounds big. GLWTS
11.
That refers to Saturday then. I had some bitter moments on Saturday as well. Namely the 3 hours it took to do J22 to J20 westbound on the M62 . Hence the delay in replying to PM's on Saturday. Anyway, all Sat/Sun/Mon PM's now replied to, ta very muchly
Full of bitter again and I still have beer goggles for this gal. Oooooh if only....
12. Did this sell? I'm tempted to get this back!
13. Look at the new price of used Orange TB500's and then what they sell for second hand...
14.
If you have done all the major homework on a working band you have received an offer from, what 4 questions would you ask to make sure your making the right decision? Blue
Q's 1) Would we be a band in the true sense? (to simplify this read Q2). 2) Will I be playing for a singer and guitarist etc that will claim all the royalties if we ever make any money? (If so, this is not a band. In my eyes I'm hired help). 3) If Q2 is answered honestly and singer/guitarist etc take the lions share. Will I get paid for my labour at a resonable rate until that point? 4) How much are you going to pay me then? Played with many bands in my younger days and it always ended up the same way... Bass players and drummers are often over looked as if they can be replaced at any point. When a tyranical singer said to the drummer once (when we were on the point of signing) "I could easily get another drummer", I asked him, "what about me"?. His reply was that he would have me replaced too. I left that second. The band never found another drummer or bass player and went into obscurity... Maybe I was a bit rash but at least I saved myself the crap that was to come!
15.
No graphite rods until 2006 -- The USA bass I was trying to remember was called the USA traditional series and I think they were the predecessor to the First Highway 1 Will
I really wish someone from Fender would join BC and make our lives easier! Wish I'd read this link earlier! http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=47881
16. Ah! Its all coming together. So, will the neck on the early models have graphite rods?
17.
Looks like a Highway 1 or USA Special that has been refinished!
I thought truss rod access was at the heel on the highway 1? They had a Badass bridge though. Didnt the Specials have a jazz pup too?
18. Truss rod access at the head on a 2003? I thought the Elites and Plus had access at the head but nothing else does? I don't like the way part of the 3 on the serial is missing either. It all just looks a bit off? The guy has loads of positive feedback though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Precision-Bass-2003-American-/281883343220?hash=item41a18e7974:g:EMUAAOSwp5JWbFSC
19.
.... my ar*e. Which, coincidentally looks like where it's been kept for the past few years. https://reverb.com/p...CFYpsGwodLLwJeA
Is it not part of the new Boss 'Road Worn' series?
20. I very nearly had a bitter fuelled moment with this last night!
21. http://www.21frets.com/squier_jv/jvprecisionbass.htm My 57 has one too. Was there a 57 in black? I think only the JV's with maple boards have skunk stripes?
22.
Weird, I wonder if he did something with the listing that stopped it appearing on a UK only search, I check Ebay everyday and hadn't seen this one, it does look a real bargain, I am thankful I already have too many Precision's and a Jazz build in progress otherwise the bank account would be getting another beating as we speak!
I've been watching that for a few days (in north west). I forgot all about it. I'm surprised it didn't sell though. Perhaps there was something limiting it's search further afield?
23.
No sense of adventure! However I would agree with your view on this even though it seems a bit cold and wet for camping at this time of year. In my defence the original quote is "I will not s**t outside the UK".
Title amended!
24. This has got to sell soon or I'm going to have some explaining to do!
