  1. I have reported but I don’t think there is much to be done.
  2. Recently, I sold a bass on eBay. No problems, money received, both parties happy etc. However, today I noticed the very same bass up for sale again (not by the person who bought it from me). It’s set at way too high a price IMO but that’s not all. They have used my pictures and the text from my original listing, with the exception of the pics and text that details the very obvious cosmetic paint damage. There probably isn’t much I can do but it does irk me https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F152932727384
  3. I do hope your trousers didn’t fall down while you were there! Still laughing at your letter in Bassist magazine regarding Chapman Stick and trouser accident! 😂
  4. I can’t believe I’ve only just realised this, and I can’t be the first, but the Ashdown “Little Bastard” and “Spyder 550” amps are named after the Porsche that he crashed and died in. This must be deliberate on Ashdown’s part, but is there a deeper connection between the two?
  5. Oh, and be sure to use the same gauge for each shoe or you’ll get a limp.
  6. Lace them up with a set of flatwounds and you’re done.
  7. I don’t like natural finishes that have been stained an unnatural colour - black, purple, green, blue.... Not a massive fan of angled back headstocks either. And those pickups that look like two J pickups glued together. Regards.
  8. We have it too. Only way I can think of pulling it off is by trying to commit the fast quaver passages to memory.
  9. I’m a biker, and a bass player - perfect for me. The wife, however, hates it so....... 😐
  10. Just for my own clarification, can these be used as a ‘normal’ amp rather than bi-amp?
  11. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F302610445756
  12. Strapped a couple of his massive Foderas to his feet and waterski’d I expect.
  13. I learnt the church organ for many many years before taking up bass. The first year of organ playing was solely on the pedals (bass clef) which in retrospect gave me a great head start. I got to grade 7 organ and grade 6 theory in the end. My boring advice would be to buy a keyboard and learn from that. Maybe have a few lessons or theory lessons, maybe even singing lessons even if you’re not a singer. Listen to music genres that you wouldn’t normally listen to, even JS Bach. It’ll give you a fresh perspective if nothing else.
  14. Where do you store your bass stuff? Do you have a separate wing in your mansion? A temperature controlled outbuilding? A spare room converted to a music room with your babies lined up on display on the wall or in stands with a wall of amps and cabs? Me? My wife has graciously allowed me literally a gig bag sized space in a cupboard by the chihuahua’s bed with a space on half a blanket box which is just the right size for a Barefaced Midget with my Promethean head on top of that in its little bag. My music stand and guitar stand hidden under the bed.
  15. I do drive, but I’m always on the lookout for a small enough and loud enough cab to fit into my scooter’s top box. Amp can go under the seat, bass on my back.
  16. Purchased an Ibanez Singlecut from John. Great guy to deal with, excellent communication. Bass was just as described and well packed. Very reliable and trustworthy chap. Cheers John!
  17. There are still quite a number of professional big bands out there recording and performing original material. It is so much more than just Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra 😃 Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band is one of the more popular modern big bands but also worth looking up The Loudhorns, Tim Akers Smoking Section, Chris Walden and Maynard Ferguson amongst others.
  18. The bass parts are there. If you download the pdf they are usually around the last few pages. Also, I’ve only played in one band since I took up bass and it’s a big band! 😎
  19. Pretty much all of Billy Joel, Steely Dan and Donald Fagen. Being self-employed, finding the time to do so is another matter...
